The visa granting seem to be more or less in strict order according to lodgement date.  This, once again, is only an observation and not based on any formal information.

I really wish that someone could give us some more info regarding this matter.

Hi folks. I used to follow @Catlady2014‘s progress with interest as I always assumed we would get our visas a couple of months after her, having applied a couple of months after her.

If you look at both our signatures, we actually got our visas first!!

Loving life here, especially laying on the beach mid January:cool:

Hi, my parents are currently in the que for their parent visa (the expensive long term one). They put the paperwork in july and have just sold their house and want to know if theres any way they can move over earlier before there visa is granted? Or whether they just have to wait it out on the UK.

    Thanks.

I would suggest they look at this thread. It’s an absolute mine of information....

We arrived about 4 hours ago, and in all the excitement I actually forgot about the insurance for the trip!  I sold my car the day before I left the UK, which was cutting it fine to say the least.   It's now 2.30am and I'm still awake.  Good luck everybody still waiting, I'll be keeping an eye out and fingers crossed for you all.

At long last......congratulations. I can’t believe how long it took.

Enjoy your new life in Australia. If ever you are in Melbourne please let us know :)

Hi both. @Geoffandgill, @juliew1499 and I are meeting up sometime in November or December at a rooftop bar in the city for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. Exact date and venue still to be decided but you are more than welcome to join us.

Please pm me with your contact details if you fancy it.

Police check is done online. You can have medicals done in Oz - @ BUPA for example

you have to be out of Oz for visa. Email the CPV at the end when all is done, give them your travel dates away from Oz and they should activate visa whilst you are out of the country.

So I believe anyway. -   I’m sure others may know for sure!!!! ?

Spot on Kath. We spent a few days in Bali. Such a hardship I know........

    Hi BendaM
I hope you can assist please?
How long after sending the AOS Acceptance Letter back to PVS did you get the request to pay the 2nd VAC?
    Many thanks

I think this depends entirely on the case officer dealing with your application and probably how straightforward it is.

Our request came within days but others seem to take several months.

    Good luck.

End of June. Nice to see it moving.
No we aren’t using an agent. I have spoken to a couple subsequent to sending in application and asked if they can speed it up. They’re very honest and say not. The letter of acknowledgment and receipt with all your references, file number etc means they know you are there! It would be nice to get that case adviser though.

Welcome 2015 applicants. It is well worth the wait in the end but so frustrating when that processing date sticks.....seemingly forever.

Ian, you can add a signature to your posts (in settings) so everyone can see your dates and you can update it as things progress. We also added our destination areas so it is possible to arrange to meet people for drinks etc.

And, for anyone thinking about using an agent I can highly recommend @Alan Collett. He is knowledgeable, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. We started the process with an agent who was so inefficient it was almost laughable so we basically sacked him and appointed Alan after reading his posts on here!

Not been around for a few days. hope everyone is ok  We have received our email giving 28 days to complete police checks ( applied for) and medicals ( booked ) . no mention of case officer though ?. House not sold but 2nd vac £  sorted so that's a big worry of our backs. Things seem to be moving along now, the pound has rallied a few cents too ?

We got our request for further information at the beginning of July but didn’t get a case officer until early September. Our case officer was pretty quick off the mark asking for the 2nd VAC but @Catlady2014‘s took several months!!

    Good Luck:)

Congratulations!  You are so lucky, I'm still waiting.  I don't know what the hold-up is on mine - over 35  months since I lodged my application, and over 4 months since my AoS was finalised and accepted, and yet I still haven't been asked for the second vac.  My agent has emailed DIBP three times, but they just don't answer.  And now the waiting times have increased again.

Thank you. You have been my benchmark through this whole process and I cannot believe this has happened. It seems the day a case officer was allocated to our application the 2nd VAC was requested.

It does seem very strange that nothing has happened on your application. I think I would be chasing them daily!

Good luck and fingers crossed for you.

  11. And so, I thought it was time for an update.

I'm not sure of the exact dates as this last part has been a bit of a whirlwind. My daughter had her interview at Centrelink, lodged the $14,000 bond and the AoS application was accepted and uploaded to Immigration on 30th August.

All the other documents were already with the agent. The medicals were completed back in July.

On the 8th September we were asked to pay the 2nd VAC. We had already transferred the necessary sum from the UK and so arranged a bank cheque which was posted to the PVC by express post on 11th September. We booked a trip to Bali and flew out of Australia on 16th September.

From my sun lounger by the pool I can confirm our visas were granted today, the 18th September. We return to Australia on Wednesday and can start both work and serious house-hunting.

I cannot believe that after all this time it has actually happened.

Keep the faith those of you in the waiting room.

No, not yet BrendaM.  I spoke to my agent again this week and we expect to hear any day now.  She has several others still waiting who lodged at the same time as me.  Meantime, I'm trying not to stress about it, although it's difficult with the £ dipping again.

Goodness. It must be so frustrating for you. I can't believe how long it is taking. I expect to hear your whoop of joy over here in Australia when you eventually get your visa.

@BrendaM how's it going for you? We are so close on our lodgement dates.

Hmm looks like we'll have to hit the ground running ... My daughter had the back door slam on her had two days ago and has lost the tip of her middle finger, which is broken. Right hand and yes, she's right handed. Not ideal when you're 38 weeks pregnant. With a two year old to be cared for they are counting the days till we get there ...

Oh no, that must be awful for her. I'm sure you will be an absolute godsend when you get there.

    Enjoy every moment:)

Top hint from intrepid emigree ... Don't leave the bag with your tickets, address book, computer memory sticks and the book with all your bank details in a bag in your neighbours house and set off to your sisters house on the train ...

:biglaugh:Oh dear. I call it emigration brain!

Good luck for your new adventure.
