Thanks for posting these Keith, but I'm not sure I understand them!!

Do you know if anything is posted anywhere with regard to the 143 visa?

    Many thanks

    Jan

  2. Yes, that is correct.

Applying for the 143 straightaway is a cheaper solution in terms of Visa Application Charges payable to the Department.

    Best regards.

    Hi Alan,

Will the Department publish the number of applications for the 143 in any given month do you know? It would be interesting to know how many were received last May and June as opposed to the number received in the forthcoming months.

I think it would give us some idea how long we might be waiting as we assumed after the May and June backlog things might speed up. However, one day's progress since the 23rd January is somewhat disheartening. Initially when we applied we thought we would be there for (last) Christmas......

    Many thanks.

  3. The long journey has finally ended, flew to Bali last night and received THE email from immi at 9.00am this morning to say PR is granted. Our legs and bums are a little stiff from sitting in the waiting room for so long, but we have finally made to through the door. So after a very long wait it's great to say..... whooohooo.

11am is no too early to start a liquid celebration is it.

    Never too early. Congratulations:ssign19:

And this is where we need a smiley with glass in hand.......!!

  4. Have spent the afternoon sorting Christmas decorations that I'd intended to keep for sentimental reasons. I am now looking at ( don't laugh) the coal scuttle. It's s special coal scuttle (I did say don't laugh) as it's an antique and sat by May parents' hearth all the years I was growing up. Its been next to my wood burner for the last three years ... But is it Australian customs proof? I've never thought about it before, but I'm wondering if I should give it to my sister

Sorry, Fisher, but that did make me chuckle.

Good luck with your move and RIP to your mum.

  5. HI

Thought I would let you know that some processes move very quickly. Our container left the Uk on 5th December 2016 and arrived Melbourne 21 January. It has now cleared customs and Dept of Agriculture checks (got stung for 71AUD for destruction of 4 Xmas decorations that they didn't like). Got the call yesterday asking to deliver goods on 9th February........oops don't get our house until 1st March! I've got so used to waiting for everything relating to our move to Australia that this has taken us by surprise. Oh well more storage to pay for.

Things are slowly coming together for us, we have a building plot and a design company (another waiting list!). A unit to move into in March, bought a car, two kayaks plus trailer, Medicare cards, Aussie driving lics , just got to sort out HMRC and the ATO....oh that bit might take a while.....

the climate on the Mornington Peninsular is lovely except when we get the odd day of 38C, it's great to be able to walk to the beach, we have seen loads of dolphins, pelicans, sting rays, loads of wonderful birds. I'm still having trouble adjusting to seeing Camelias out in October! We are now immersed in a world of self build, finding out that the Aussies do a lot of things very differently, some better, some not so. There seems to be legislation for just about everything you want to do, a permit for this and a permit for that.......

Just to add to the wildlife, we had a koala in one of the trees on our building plot, how great is that?

Good luck to all of you still waiting, I hope you get some movement on the dates soon.

    Julie

Aw Julie, it sounds wonderful, especially the koala. I am really getting frustrated now and just hope the dates speed up or this could be a very long year:sad:

I blitzed my Christmas decorations too and have got rid of anything that had pines cones or suchlike so hopefully the rest are OK. I have a large Santa but all the greenery in his sack is fake. Just hope they can tell the difference!!

See you on the Peninsula at some stage......

  6. well, it appears that Bryan was right - I do not have a CO after all. My agent apologised for referring to a CO, and has admitted it was not a CO who asked for the extra stuff and Police check. But it appears that the processing has changed slightly - extra info or docs can be requested, as can Police checks, ahead of a CO being appointed. This appears to be an effort to speed things up in advance of the CO stage, unless anybody else knows something different. I am happy that progress is being made though - finally! - after nothing happening at all for 29 months.

But at least someone has actually looked at your application.

I have visions of mine festering in a huge pile of case files gathering dust!!

  7. Not sure I understand the progression of cases because I now have a CO and my agent has been asked for extra docs and to get my Police check done. So maybe the "assessing" date doesn't have as much significance as we thought.

You must be so excited that something is happening at long last. Fingers crossed it all flows smoothly:smile:

  8. I really hope the end is finally in sight. I've applied for my Police Cert, accepted an offer on my house, applied for an import licence for my dog. I didn't dare do any of these things until now because of all the delays. I just hope it all comes together. My daughter is planning to come to the UK when the visa is granted, so that we can travel back to Australia together.

I think I might send off for our Police Certificates soon too. I printed the form 80 today as it looks as though it could take a while to fill in!

What a lovely idea to travel back with your daughter. I'm sure the champagne will flow freely on the flight:wink:

  9. My agent also said they are requesting medicals and Police checks in advance of the Case Officer being allocated. I haven't been asked for my medical just yet, but the agent expects it to be any day and has said I should go ahead with the Police check.

Oh my goodness, you must be so excited:chatterbox:

I'm gambling on being 8 weeks behind you......or even closer of Immi speed up!

Is the end in sight, even if still just a dot on the horizon?

  10. Hi Jan

We're going to the Mornington Peninsula, we've been staying there off and on for the last three years, so have got to know it quite well.

    Brenda

    Hi Brenda,

I've only been there a couple of times but love it too. We will be more in the burbs of Melbourne, Oakleigh area, but I think a coffee on the Peninsula might be in order once we're both moved over.

Maybe @juliew1499 would care to join us?

    Anyone else heading that way?

    Jan

  11. I'm headed for Victoria Point, a little way southeast of Brisbane. And the waiting is enough to drive you mad. I feel that my life has been on hold for well over 2 years now, during which time I've watched happily as the exchange rate climbed to dizzying heights during 2015 and the early part of 2016, and then sadly plunged lower and lower since just before the Brexit vote. And I had expected to be in Australia by April 2015. As you say, all very frustrating, but clerk85 has just posted that the processing date has moved on a few days to 11th August, so we all need to stay as positive as we can. We will get there ...eventually. ??

We are off to Melbourne. We actually made the decision to put the house on the market after Brexit and sold really quickly. We are now renting so ready to up sticks and move as soon as we get the go-ahead. Let's all hope that the date moves on swiftly. We will probably rent over there for a while too and just hope the exchange rate picks up a bit.

Does anyone know if Immi reveal numbers of applications received in any given month? It would make it so much easier to gauge timescales if they did. I guess not as I'm sure someone would have posted it on here if they did:laugh:

  12. Everyone waiting patiently.....

is there a quicker way to get there?

is there a visa that would let us work in Oz whilst waiting for contributory parent visa?

we are 51 years old, would want to work.

    applied in June 2016

    any suggestions greatly appreciated.

We are in the same boat as we will need to work too. I don't think there is any way to work whilst waiting, but if you do find a way, please share.....

  13. Hi one and all in the waiting room. I decided it is about time I popped in to say :ssign6:. We applied in December 2014 and were hoping to be on our way by Christmas this year! I don't think that's likely to happen now though:sad:

We will be moving to Melbourne when we eventually get there and I know there are a few of you also heading that way so maybe we can organise something at some point.

No doubt I will be on here with questions as and when things occur to me and also to vent steam at the Immi dates!!

Look forward to joining in with you all
