  1. Just had a test email reply. No movement at all this week ☹️

We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 30 June 2014. Please note that due to a very high number of 173 and 143 applications received in June 2014, the assessment date is expected to change at a much slower pace than usual. We appreciate your patience and your understanding.

This time last year they were processing 6 Jan 14 - so just 6 months movement in a year. I do so hope that things start to pick up soon.

  2. Hi, I'm very new to this but love reading all the messages back and forth. I just have one question for you, what is the acknowledgement you quote after lodgement and receipt? We applied for a 143 visa 8th December 2015, receipt by email 10th December 2015 but have not been contacted since....is that normal? Thanks for any help. Regards Shelagh

Our acknowledgement letter was four pages long giving us a reference number, confirming details of the application and various other info on the processing. We received ours a month after we lodged our application although I see that some received theirs in a shorter time and others longer, but I think you should certainly have had one after over 10 months. Zee.

  3. Everything seems to be at a standstill at the moment, processing dates having only moved on 1 day in the last 17. Hopefully once the May/June 2014 applications are all processed we will be able to see a bit of a move on and get a better idea of how long it will take. But who knows? Going by the original advice when we applied (i.e. 12-24 months) we were hoping that we would have been well on the way by now – but unfortunately not. Let's just hope things improve soon.

    Hello all

we have applied for the 143 parent visa in December 2015 in total limbo as regards processing time

has anyone any idea what is happening ,,as we all know it's impossible to get any info from perth

    regards to all

  4. Good Evening,

I sent my mother's CPV application to the parent centre in Perth yesterday by courier - does anyone have an idea as to how long it takes to receive an acknowledgement of receipt and how long after is the first payment taken? Is this done by post or by e-mail?

    Many Thanks,

    Purpleal

I think it varies. Ours was acknowledged about a month after it was received, but I see that some have taken a lot longer. I think sending by Courier is preferable because you will at least have a signature from IMMI. We sent ours by recorded post and although we tracked it to being received by the Perth post office it said "awaiting collection" for the whole month we waited! Zee

  5. Thank you. My parents are both retired and come over here for the Australian summer every year so I've said if the 143 isn't fast enough they can do the tourist/visitor visa in the meantime - my bro lives in NZ so they could always hop over there when/if it looks like they're going to get the 143 visa granted. They can live with us no problem and they don't need to work.

The uncertainty is the big problem - my Dad is umming and ahhing about planning everything out and then submitting the visa application - whereas I'm trying to get them to put the application in and do the planning/preparation afterwards. They emigrated to France nearly 10 years ago so they know what they're letting themselves in for, sort of, in terms of relocating etc. My parents just like to have water-tight plans and unfortunately the Australian visa process is anything but, as I well know!

What about an 864 Contributory Aged Parent visa. I’m led to believe that they are being processed a lot quicker at the moment. I must admit we have been thinking that we should have gone down that route now that the waiting time for 143 is so long. The trouble is we are very cautious and didn't want to sell up and move out to Australia just in case things went wrong and we weren't granted a visa and had to then come back and pick up the threads again. It is a bit of a minefield.

  6. Hi,

I'm also a Sept 15 Lodger, nearly one year in, and agent has told me there is no chance I will hear anything for another year. Daughter on Gold Coast, coming home for Christmas though.

Christmas is certainly something to look forward to. The boys both want to see some snow - we may have to travel to find some, but hopefully not too far.

  7. Hi Pertenhall, We too are planning our move to the Sunshine Cost, close to Noosa we think, and we plan on renting for the first year. We spent some time there last year and going back for another look in November. We only applied for our visa in March 2016, so we have a long wait yet. Where on the SC are you heading to?

Hello there - our daughter is in Moffat Beach, next to Caloundra. We are hoping to go within a 30 minute drive from her - we are looking at houses in Kiels Mountain, Buderim, Mons etc etc. With the delay in visas being granted we had planned another trip out this winter, but instead are flying our daughter and grandsons over here for Christmas, which will be lovely. The way things are going we may yet get another trip out before we finally get the visas through. We will definitely rent for a while and make sure we pick the right house to buy. Lets hope things start to move again soon. Zee

  8. Is anyone headed to the Sunshine Coast. We're hoping to join our daughter and grandsons there. We had hoped to be well on the way to getting the visas granted by now - but looks like it is going to be a very long wait. Patience was never my strongest virtue! Surely we'll be on our way before yet another year passes. It is terrible wishing your life away, but I wish to time would go faster.

  9. Hello am panicking slightly here. We applied in December 2015 and assumed it would be through by or on December 2017, from reading some recent posts is that assumption up in the air? It has quite a significant determinant on what we decided to do between now and then, then being maybe sometime after 2017......If anyone knows where to look or who to ask please let me know. Thanks! Custardy.

I think we have just got to sit tight and wait and hope that things pick up a bit. But it certainly looks like to will be longer than 2 years before we get our visas. Zee

  10. Hi all,

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find the answer. I believe there is a minimum income requirement for the assurer of support can anyone tell me the figure.

    Thanks

If you go to this link it gives you the calculations. http://guides.dss.gov.au/guide-socia...y-law/9/4/3/60. I've asked the question before as to whether this amount is before tax but haven't yet managed to find the answer to that one. I also wonder how strict they are with the amounts and also don't know if they take into account our income. Zee

  11. Hi we will have a house to sell does anyone know if we can then leave the bulk of that in a uk account until rate improves if we went to Oz and rented? Assuming eventually our visas will come through.

    Sue

Just be aware of the financial services compensation - both in UK and Aus banks. UK is currently £75,000 per person. I know that our bank, Lloyds, offer a temporary high balance cover for "eligible" deposits such as house sales for a six month period. Other than that spread it around.

  12. Hopefully it'll go back up a bit. I know it's taken a hit because of the referendum result but it's been very up and down for a long time now, regardless of the referendum, so keep your fingers crossed. I don't think I'll get a visa before December, so I'm not going to start worrying at this stage.

It certainly isn't good news, however when we applied it was around 1.5 AUD to £. We would far rather it be higher, but hopefully it won't sink as low as 1.5 again and will recover over the next few months. Fingers crossed.

  13. Can anyone help? Is the AOS calculation for income for the sponsor done on gross income or after tax? Also is child benefit received included in the calculation. We are certainly better off than our sponsor. Although we don’t think there will be a problem, does our guaranteed income have any influence. Thanks, Zee.

  14. We applied for a Contributory Parent Visa 143 in March 2015 and like everyone else are waiting – rather impatiently. Although all the instructions say to wait until you are told before arranging your medicals I see quite a few do this beforehand. Can anyone tell me if there a time limit on the results of the medicals. We don’t want to have them and then find we need to re-do at a later stage.

    Many thanks for any advice.
