  1. Thank you. I have savings, but just need to figure out the remaining $4000'ish balance to make up the remaining amount. Thankfully the only part of the PR application that is in, is the first sponsorship part.
  2. Thank you SO much for your information. You have no idea how grateful I am. I feel helpless because it's Sunday, so I can't do anything but sit and stir with my own thoughts. I have emailed for a migration agent in my area to contact me back for a meeting. The only thing I'm scared about is that my partner and I do not have a joint bank account, we just pay our bills from our individual accounts. We can certainly open one, however it might look weird if it's a new account. I will definitely look into my employers obligations as sponsor as I'm sure he doesn't realise his responsibilities. I do believe I have grounds for unfair dismissal too however I cannot think of dealing with that until I confirm I am still legal in the country after the 19th. Bigger fish to fry as they say. Thank you again for your help. I hope I can retain my status here as I have already established a life, car loan and all! haha Regards, Heather
  3. Hey gang, I'm in a new pickle re: 186. Any advice would be amazing. I'm trying to remain calm between tears. I've been in Australia for just over 4 years, 3 of them working on a 457. As of April, I submitted the first part of my application for permanent residency, and this upcoming week I was going to submit the more expensive half, my application. My visa expires on Sept 19, so this would have allowed me to stay on the bridging visa until immigration said yes. 2 days ago, my boss let me go. He knew my situation and felt no remorse. I was pushed out of the job I have been working for 4 years, months before having my perm. residency approved. I'm now at a loss. Had I known this was going to happen, I would have planned. I have been with my partner for over 2 years and we have been living together for almost 2. I believe I can apply for a partner defacto visa (if i can find $$) in the next couple days. Would this allow me to stay after Sept 19 if my application has been submitted? Any help would be appreciated. I now have to find out how to cancel my P.R application and try and get my initial money back.

  5. Ah okay. Yeah, I'm ****ed. I need to figure something out, I refuse to uproot my life over this.
  6. I figured it would be. I've only submitted the employer nomination. It's weird they have never asked for the payslips for the initial 457 application years ago. Maybe I can get the lovely accountants at work to embellish some stuff for me, I refuse to go home. I would apply for the defacto visa if I had $6500 to spend.
  7. I think I'm screwed - my employer hasn't been paying me the amount that is requested of the job/sponsorship. I think I can kiss the last 4 years of my life away and be subjected to being on a plane back home in Sept, leaving my partner and life behind. Everyone has been asked for payslips/PAYG summaries haven't they?
  8. I'm really confused as to why the nomination takes so long. Why do they have to look into so much when the company have already applied and was approved to be a sponsor years ago. Maybe I'm naive, but shouldn't they just have to check to make sure they are still a business? Also, what are some of the documents that people had to supply for their visa applications? Just wondering what I'll be up against when I pay my $3600. Did people have to supply payslips? I'm the only one in the company that is sponsored, they had gone through all of that BS to keep me 3 years ago.
  9. Awesome - thank you for your help. I would look through the forum for my answers but 2540 pages is a little daunting. haha I'll have to make sure my actual application is in before Sept, as of right now it's just my employer nomination I have done. Half of my brain thinks it would have been easier for the defacto visa.
  10. Is the processing times for English speaking, commonwealth countries for people doing the transition stream the same as everyone else? Is it still months and months for that? My 457 expires Sept 19th so it looks like I'll have to get a bridging visa closer to the date. I moved here 4 years ago and I do not want to uproot my life just because of processing times taking too long.
  11. I didn't know about visa 190. I don't have an agent helping me since I can't afford one so thank you for the heads up. I'll give all that crap a read today. I've technically been working at my place of employment for 4 years since I did my working holiday visa here too. Thanks again! I'm still shocked at the wait time for the 186 visa.
  12. Hi, Just joined the forum. I'm not a pom, but I'm canadian. I've been working with my job for 4 years and 3 of that under the 457. I've just submitted the employer nomination portion today and now it's down so I can't continue any further, driving me nuts! I'm now super depressed after reading the latest posts on this thread. I didn't think the processing times would be SO drastic!! I was hoping to move onto a new job very soon before I go nuts and quit. Does anyone know what evidence of form to submit the certification declaration form for paying for sponsorship?? I didn't know if I signed it or my boss so we each did one. Thanks!!
