Reading recent posts the speculation seems to be that IMMI have reached, or almost reached, their allocation of CPV.s for this year and are only contacting the Oct 2014'ers in order to get their documentation in place for when the new allocation starts - which will not be until July 2016. Seems to make sense - but offers little comfort to those of us still way down in the queue. Meanwhile I am currently in Brisbane meeting my new granddaughter and I cannot believe how much house prices have increased here - about 20% - 30% over the last 2 years despite the fact that there seems to be a building frenzy everywhere you look. Add to that the decrease in the pound/dollar rate and we are moving further and further north to find something affordable. And then there is article 50 about to be enacted.............. Can you tell I am in a gloomy mood
I feel your anguish too. By the time mine is due to compete late 2018 the GBP v AUD could be in a right old sorry state! We can only live in hope!

We were kept waiting a further two weeks or so after the bond money had been taken ... As we were more or less en route for an Aussie holiday at the time, we contacted immi for advice and they more or less acknowledged that a visa issue was imminent.
Thank you. Just trying to pinpoint when is the best time to put the house on the market, they go pretty quickly where I am, so allowing 3mths for that process hopefully!

Same here. And of course, AoS currently takes about 8 weeks to process, sometimes much longer. Geordiejoe I believe took an epic 16 weeks or so and Julie about 9 weeks. They'll correct me if I got that wrong!
once they take your bond money is that a definite visa offer imminent? Thanks

I hope so! But having seen my daughter's experiences with her move, I thought I would just take the bare minimum - no white goods, no beds or furniture, just a few side tables etc that I especially like, crockery, cutlery, and the usual paraphernalia that you can't do without, plus all the personal items you gather over the years. And I've already sold £3,500 worth of clutter on ebay.
have heard many stories of regret taking lots of things over, wasting more money etc
Wow that's a good amount towards new stuff. Sling out the old ! New life! new stuff!
Am waiting with baited breath for you !! :ssign7:

i'm only taking what will fit into a Movecube. Selling some stuff to buyers of house, some via ebay and to neighbours, anything leftovers will go on Freecycle or to BHF, and any dregs to the tip. My daughter took quitea lot of stuff but then had to wait a couple of months for it to arrive, so she had to buy anyway in the meantime. You can of course buy secondhand make-do stuff though.
very wise you are doing the right thing!

Hi everyone, we are selling our house and will have to put our furniture etc in store awaiting our 143 visa which could be some time, I have been told by one shipping company that they would have to take it into store and then load into containers when we get visa (so twice the chance of damage or loss) does anyone have experience of this any recommendations or advice gratefully received. I know it would be easier not to take so much but we have many things we would like to keep and sofas that are less than three years old and it would cost a fortune to replace in Oz.
im sure there is another thread re shipping. I was going to take furniture etc but costs so much! You don't know if it will fit or suit new property so I would definitely whittle out down to the bare bones! Have heard people say they wished they hadn't taken stuff, white goods not bad price over their etc. Hope to sell some stuff to the buyers of my house when the time comes.

in the new five year parent visa does it state that you can work whilst there?
There you go....
[h=3]8 – Work rights haven’t been decided yet[/h]While the discussion paper lays down many statements as key elements, it doesn’t take a firm position on work rights.
“A key consideration is what, if any, work rights should be included with this visa. In what situations would temporary parent visa holders need to work?” a questions section asks.

No you can't work as far as I remember

Not sure if this helps and i am by no means an expert but my mum applied in aug 2016 for her 143 and the plan was to come out for 6 months over christmas. She applied for the 600 tourist visa just as shes done many times before and was asked by immi if she wanted to go for the new 5 year parent visa which she has. So the rules are 12 months stay in any 18 months, she had to take out private medical approx $200 pm for basic cover and its valid for 5 year's so she can come and go within the rules until 2021. She cannot apply for another visa - this doesnt affect her existing 143 application though. Cost was same as 12m e600 visa - one off cost. Hope that makes sense - she has to go home for at least 6m after being here for 12m.

Hi Leigh-Anne,
is that $200 per month on the insurance?
Was the visa number 600 -applied for online?
thanks

I know what you mean. You are probably going at the right time. Mine may come through just as we go through the brexit "divorce"
dreading the exchange rate in the future. Hope you hear something very soon!

Catlady2014 - I was thinking I would have to be in receipt of my visa before selling the house?
If they ask for AOS and mediclal/police checks etc, does that mean they have already accepted you in principle ?
I wasn't going to put it on the market until all done.
Thanks
-
And here was me hoping it might take some off the 143 list!
thanks anyway Alan

I read it first on this link and now this one
THIS PARAGRAPH IS IN THE DISCUSSION PAPER:-
The Discussion Paper also advises that: “In order to apply for the new visa, it will not be necessary for the parent to have also applied for a permanent parent visa. Parents can however, continue to lodge a permanent visa application if they wish.”
confusing! Maybe we can apply for both?
-
Catlady2014-I really feel for you. Hoping it happens soon. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you
-
I also saw the 2-4yrs processing time now quoted on the web but hoping that is for those starting the process now!
You can read up on the new 5yr visa but such a lot of info I gave up!
I know it starts July 17
-
I lodged mine only in March 2016, Reading all your past posts seems one hell of a wait!
My life seems to be in limbo land! Probably take 2.6yrs to complete now.
When I first looked it was 18-24 mths, so disappointing!
Also AUD was $2 to the pound then it went up to $2.20
Did all my reckoning on it being around $2 when I move, but with the Brexit situation etc I fear the worse.
How does this terribly affect us all in our finances! So gutted at what I thought what house I could afford to buy has changed an awful lot!
Am wondering if this new 5yr visa will maybe take some off the 143 list
Fingers crossed waiting time improves and doesn't go worse.
Good luck everyone!
-
Yes I've since noticed. Thanks
-
Hi
Approx 18-24mths presently
-
Thanks for that info. As processing time is 18-24mths now every extra month I can save the better as you never know which month they will request money!
-
Thank you anyway

Does anyone know how much time you have before having to pay 2nd instalment on 143 parent visa once they ask for it? Thanks
