  1. Looks a lot like the child of Sonic the Hedgehog and Caramello Koala to me ha ha
  2. :notworthy: ha ha ....was having a laugh with my folks about mushing my trio from quarantine in Melbourne to our new home if we couldn't get a company to transport them .... Would be a sight to see along the Victorian roads lol Ty they are mummies babies all of them, a huge part of my life. I can't wait for them to meet the family at last. cheers Mary-Anne
  3. That's great news that you've got your flights and accommodation sorted ....It's a bit different for me being an Aussie coming home after years of living in the UK ... I haven't had some of those problems as I have Australian addresses and contact numbers all my family is over there so for me it's home ....I didn't realize that you had the option of kenneling them for any extra days if needed before they go. Yes xmas time is very busy, worked for quite a few years in retail in Australia and December /January was always mad ....and also coming in to the Aussie summer...so can see why you'd like to get there that bit earlier. You are welcome hun am in the last couple of weeks now until my own trip so yep things are starting to get busy...my trio are down to the vets for their last flea tick treatment this saturday, then got the removalists coming next Tuesday, dogs final exams last worming and export health paperwork are being done on the 9th of May....they already have passed their last bloods ....then they fly out 11th via Emirates with me following on the 14th flying Etihad .... but if there's anything I can do to help just give me a shout  cheers Mary-Anne
  4. :jiggy:Yay great news travel safe Ralphy
  5. Crosses fingers for you hun ...hope it all gets sorted asap and Ralphy's able to jet off on Wednesday
  6. Hi Hun, Just chiming in here ....personally I'd hold off on booking your flights until you have the rabies passed....to quote the Australian Quarantine Rules "The animal is not eligible for export to Australia until at least one hundred and eighty (180) days have passed from the date that the blood sample is drawn for the RNAT test (with a satisfactory result)." As we were talking about on the other thread this would be from the date you took your dog back down to the vet as in on the 22nd of April......so as long as your dog passes this time around and is issued a Rnatt by your vet after.... it is 180 days from the date of the blood being drawn....in your case this will be around October 19th at the absolute earliest before your dog could enter Australia. I absolutely get what you mean about flights and grabbing them at a good price ....however I'd hold off a bit until you know you've got the rabies in the bag so to speak....then you know when the dogs will be able to enter Australia ....once you have that you can base both your flights and theirs after that date. Your vet should get back to you when she has the results ...which normally don#'t take too long to arrive. Just a suggestion ...not remotely trying to tell you what to do or in what order ...just thought it might help to do it this way and to take a deep breath ...you will sort it out and it will all get done....talk to your pet shipper too they are there to help you through the process cheers Mary-Anne
  7. Aww ty must admit as it is getting closer a few nerves are kicking in ....will be a very relieved mum once I know they have all arrived safely....think I'll be doing a VeryStormy trick and watching the flight radars
  8. True my trio relate treats as good times indeed...very responsive to treat training
  9. The rabies vax and test is one of the expensive parts for sure. It is a lot of money, especially for a student, to come up with twice ....Perhaps your dog might have failed regardless as yes some do fail the first one even if it is done within the recommended time frames. However maybe your vet might have chosen to put it a bit more diplomatically and said it could have failed rather than would have failed ...as the truth is that's not known even by the vet had it been done after 3 weeks .... so I think could might have been a better choice of phrasing on her part....it can't be proved one way or another now as to whether your dog would have passed or not. All that can be done is to revax and then re=test in 3 weeks. I'd still ask what she thinks is fair ....just my opinion but sounds like she was making unproved assumptions there. Can't hurt to talk with her about it all... Hope it all goes well this time around cheers Mary-Anne
  10. Hi Hun, Sorry to hear the result was a fail I gather the antibody levels had dropped that bit too much.....has your vet offered any help with the re-test costs etc given it was their advice to not re-vaccinate beforehand? Might be worth asking if they would at least in part met your costs for the second vaccination or test ? Cant hurt to ask and see what they think is fair... It's a blow...can understand how frustrating it is ... but on the bright side it's very rare for a dog to fail twice so hope it goes well this time around. Keep us posted cheers Mary-Anne
  11. Saw a comment on another thread about crate practice ahead of the trip... so very apt for me right now...thought I'd share some pics of my trio this week practicing for their trip ...only a two and a half weeks to go now until they are up up and away
  12. It's great to read good experiences with Dogtainers, Mick is very helpful and I can't thank him enough for his offer of help....unfortunately I did feel their recent quote for me just that little bit pricey for my trio so have chosen to go ahead with another company, which has now been all sorted with pretty much one phone call. That by no means is not to say I wouldn't use Dogtainers in the future, as yes very helpful. Sometimes speaking with a person directly on the phone sorts things out much quicker than emails....as I mentioned in another thread didn't want to jump the gun and glad I didn't as it was simply a case of the company I had been dealing with not getting my message. It is very reassuring though to know other Aussie Pet Transport companies would have been able to do it too ...so yep a thumbs up from me for Dogtainers too.
  13. Am using Santa Fe Wridgways for both my move from the UK back home to Aus and also my folks move from west to east of Australia....so it's an overseas move plus an interstate one. Over the years have used them on multiple occasions ...too many to mention. Reason we chose them was our own past experience with them ....not once have they ever failed to show up, packed our items with great care, have never failed to deliver nor ever lost or damaged any of our property. John Masons who work with them from the Uk end are actually picking up my gear on behalf of Santa Fe Wridgways and I'm very happy with the levels of service and responsiveness I've had from both companies. I would not hesitate to recommend. Have also used Grace Brothers in Australia for interstate and overseas moves and can say pretty much the same as above for them...again wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I can't say the same for Allied Pickfords unfortunately I just can't recommend them ....little and not so little things ....a couple of examples ....one move which was only within one state ....despite my mum stating it had to be white butcher's paper they came with newspaper on the day of packing ....she refused to allow them to wrap any items in that as she didn't want newsprint all over her goods they had to go get the butchers paper which caused a delay of course ...they also damaged the legs of my mum's vintage bedroom furniture, wardrobe, dresser, chest of drawers, and what really got her offside was they tried to deny it or say it was there beforehand when it simply wasn't ....they failed to strap it carefully enough so broke legs or cracked them ....to be fair they ended up taking the damaged furniture away and getting it repaired ...BUT only when my mum point blank refused to allow them to offload it into the new house nor allow them to continue with anymore of the unloading until the issue was addressed by the company and my dad's company who had organised them...ended up with her and the supervisor plus relocation manager for dad's company who both arrived literally checking every item as it was offloaded and returning any damaged items to their van for immediate repair....she vowed then and there to never use them again and she hasn't since that day!! Despite that in the past ....I thought well things change ....this time I thought well I'll see what they quote for my move ....rang up was given another number to call the first guy seemed helpful ....but then rang that number multiple times on different days, went straight to voicemail and couldn't leave message as it was full it remained that way until I thought well this tells me something when they can't even see to and clear their voicemails ....I also never got a call back from their pets specialist movers despite them supposedly going to ring me ....suffice to say they I made the decision to not try them again...BUT they can never claim I didn't give them the benefit of the doubt. I am sure they do many moves that there's no issues but I can only base it on my own experience with them and my families and say never again. Just a couple of my experiences.
  14. Very welcome Pat ...just passing in this little tip too courtesy of my Aussie transporters whom I was speaking to yesterday ....they were telling me they have had many calls of late about this ...as you have also done this yourself ie booked quarantine as have I....they said sometimes the new PEQ site will not allow you to nominate a company to collect when you log in to book the date ...BUT DON'T PANIC ....they told me if that happens when I log in to just go ahead and book it as me collecting and to email a copy to both them and the PEQ email I wrote above....they will take along a copy of the authorization letter with them to Mickleham on the day the dogs are released etc. Am sure Jetpets would do something similar Yes it is annoying when they change the goalposts lol ...I do think as with any new ish system there are going to be glitches ....Both Bicon and Peq are both new so I think they are trying to streamline them as best they can. It's inevitable that there will be some 'tweaks' along the way ....not made easier for those trying to use the systems though as we have found out ...if it's any reassurance I have it on good authority that many shippers too have found it a challenge to navigate Can say I was really thankful for getting that good tip as yep I would have been thinking what do I do now if that had happened. Been thinking of you and Ralphy as it's so close now ...travel safe everyone and hope to hear soon it's all gone well and you are all there safe and sound. cheers Mary-Anne
  15. Hi Hun, This might help......I was told ONLY yesterday morning to email the letter of authorisation for collection directly to PEQ here PEQservices@agriculture.gov.au Yes, you can upload all your documents documents via your PEQ log IN (not Bicon) so yes it could be uploaded to your account there too. I did all that myself for mine with the help of my shipper, just have the last documents to upload after their final exams etc ... but perhaps your shipping company can help you here as either you or they must have a log in for Ralphy already. He will have a PEQ reference number that should be on the letter when his booking confirmation came through https://online.agriculture.gov.au/webcenter/portal/peq/Home?_afrLoop=28765312591363466 Hope that helps cheers Mary-Anne
  16. The Vet sends it off to APHA ...APHA sends the Export Health certificate forms straight to the certifying vet at around 10 days before pet is due for export from the UK....they (ie the vets) will then fill those forms out on the day of the final exam. The vet keep a copy for themselves and they return another copy to APHA. ...oops thought I'd best add this bit ..The original certificates then travels with the animal. cheers Mary-Anne
  17. Yep green stamp is fine ....see below an little excerpt from the official UK vet guidelines CERTIFICATION BY AN OFFICIAL VETERINARIAN (OV) This certificate may be signed by an Official Veterinarian appointed by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Scottish Government, Welsh Government, or an Authorised Veterinary Inspector (AVI) appointed by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Northern Ireland (DARDNI), who is an Official Veterinarian (OV) on the appropriate panel for export purposes. OVs/AVIs should sign and stamp the health certificate with the OV/AVI stamp in any colour OTHER THAN BLACK. Any corrections made to the certificate must be struck through, remain legible and be signed and stamped by the Official Veterinarian (correction fluid must not be used). A certified copy of the completed certificate must be sent to the APHA Centre for International Trade (CIT) in Carlisle, within seven days of signature. The OV/AVI should keep a copy for his/her own records.
  18. Spot on right Pat must be a UK Govt approved vets also known as OV vet ....even then it might have been a while since they prepared an animal for Australian export ...very important they know the most up to date requirements ...or as my vets said when he took the up to date documents home with him ....oh good got some 'light reading' to do tonight lol ... good sense of humour also a great trait in vets imo !! cheers Mary-Anne
  19. I admit I am really surprised at your vet not thinking there wasn't any need to re-vaccinate and if it was going to fail it would have anyway etc....I saw this post back when you originally posted it ...and immediately thought at the time about the dropping levels of antibodies over time as Bob mentioned... given the amount of time since vaccination and the requirement for certain levels I too thought there was a good chance they might have fallen too low to get the desired result...but thought well he's a vet and I'm not so he would be more able to answer that than me. I hope that isn't the case and the levels are still high enough for your results. I just think well vets are human too, and yes mistakes can happen. When I started off this process and all the way through my vets took all the info home with them and studied the most up to date requirements ...to make sure they knew exactly what was required of them. I'm very grateful to my vets for all the efforts ....they don't assume they double check which is really reassuring....they have a big file on my trio with all the requirements in it and yep they do look at it for reference at each stage so they know exactly where each one is at etc....A little example of that is them looking at the words 'continuous' ....1 of my dogs when looking at her vaccination record had had her vaccination booster the month needed BUT the dates showed it was actually 12 months and 2 days apart ....so we re-did them ...we felt it could be construed that there hadn't been 'continuous' cover due to the 2 days over the 12 months ...so we felt it was better to make sure there was no doubt she is completely vaccinated and it has been continuous and up to date etc. Little things but very important as the Aussie regulations are very exacting and is has to be right. Will be hoping for your sake there is no need to re-vaccinate BUT just remember it's not the end of the world if they do ...it's very rare for two fails, most do pass the 2nd time around and you can then get on with the rest. The important thing is you've allowed yourself time in case there's any need to re-test any of the tests or treatments along the way. cheers Mary-Anne
  20. You are welcome good luck with the vaccinations tonight hope it all goes well cheers Mary-Anne
  21. You are correct you don't need the EU or Uk Pet passport ...however you do need the UK Export Health Certificate when your pet leaves the UK for Australia.
  22. Hi Ya, The requirements are very similar....the testing results including rabies that will need to be documented on both the import and export forms are the same ....from a UK perspective you are EXPORTING your pet ( which requires the UK Export Health Certificate ) from the UK AND then are Importing your pet into Australia. This might be where the Uk pet passport option is coming in from your vets receptionist...what has to be done for a UK Pet Passport is the requirements for Uk export and much matches the same requirements for Australian import . I'd advise you to double check with your vet tonight just for clarity as to exactly what the Pet Passport option does cover and whether there will be additional costs for any additional Australian requirements. Your OV vet will be required to complete all the certification as you go through the process. BUT yes do get that rabies vaccination under way and then the blood tests. Am nearly at the end of this process my trio are off to Australia next month. Please also do have a look at the link from dxbox post ...it is an excellent source of information. Hope this helps. cheers Mary-Anne
  23. Thanks for that Mick have sent you an email about it. cheers Mary-Anne
  24. Thanks for that link VS and your reccommendation ....great pics made me smile ... you wouldn't be able to see a desk if any of my lot were perched on it lol. I'll be giving Dogtainers a call if I don't hear from the company in the next couple of days. I don't want to jump the gun as there may be a very valid reason they haven't been in touch again as yet but at the same time I'm keeping my options open. I'm not one who functions well doing things at the last minute I like to have it sorted well beforehand so to speak and I'll honestly put my hand up and say it never inspires confidence in me with any company if there's no reply when you ask a specific question. cheers Mary-Anne
  25. I might be calling on you yet Mick ...been having hassles getting hold of the company that was going to transport my trio from quarantine to their new home in May ...as you can imagine as a result I'm not feeling relaxed at this very minute as I thought I was sorted with that. On the bright side their last blood tests are all fine so only the last of the flea tick and worming to go !! Will give them another day or two... if not well the job of getting them from melbourne to border of vic nsw will be up for grabs. cheers Mary-Anne
