  1. Yes we were asked to pay the 2nd Vac a few days before Christmas 2016. So fingers crossed for you.
  2. We applied in June 2014 and finally had our visa granted in January 2017. I believe it is a much longer wait now, but hang on in there, it will be worth it.
  3. It is possible that with the large number of applicants in May & June 2014 that they have run our of allocation for this year and that is why the date isn't updating. That happened to us last year and we had to wait for 1st July before it started moving again. Hopefully that is not the case, but be prepared.
  4. Ours was done on line too. The agent would have charged us postage otherwise.
  5. I think Immi only like electronic correspondence so just email the correct form to them. That is what our agent did with our change of address. You will have to fill in the most up to date information when you fill in the Form 80 but you should still let them know the changes.
  6. You are right Alan. Fortunately our house had not increased in value but you have to get an estate agent to submit similar property sale prices. As we did this within the year we were lucky and did not have to pay capital gains. Double the solicitors fees though as well as 3 times stamp and there is always the outside risk of something happening medically to stop you getting the visa and then you are stuck with the house to sell. Glad we did it but we did take a big risk. For the first while we were here we invested the money from the sale of our UK house and with better interest rates here the interest paid for our rental. They don't make it easy do they?
  7. Hello. You would be allowed to purchase land and build a new house. While waiting for our 143 we bought a '2nd hand' house by setting up a loan to our daughter who bought the house on our behalf. In meant double stamp duty as it was deemed a 2nd home for my daughter and then another stamp duty when it was transferred to our name. This was done with lots of legal advice. also rates were higher while our daughter owned the house. Don't know if there is another way round.
  8. Have they asked for the medicals as well - for that they should have given you a HAP ID. Also you should receive a letter to set up the bond of assurance. We got our CO at the end of October 2016 and were asked for the money the week before Christmas. That is the last thing that happens they are then ready to grant. I you are unsure - email them. I am assuming you are not using an agent.
  9. I wrote to Immi to ask for my HAP id on the off chance they would oblige. This was 9 months before we got our Case Officer. I thought they would not reply but about 3 weeks later I got an email with my Hap id and instructions. I used the email given at the end of the update email. We got our medicals and police checks done but only just made it in time before the year was up. Might be worth waiting a little bit longer as we were sweating bricks at the end.
  10. Hello Again, I can only speak from our own experience. I have just checked the 600 visa we were given and it clearly states that we were only allowed to enter Australia once during the term of that visa. Entry was stated as 'Single' with an explanation of the same below. We were on a Sponsored Family Visa. Hopefully things have now changed.
  11. Hello there. Just to let you know our experience. We applied in June 2014 and like you decided to sell up to have the money available. In January 2015 we applied for a 600 visa which we received within two weeks. Our migration agent was surprised that it had a 8503 on it which we were not expecting. This meant that we had to leave after 12 months to apply for another visa , presumably we could have applied for another 600 but we chose to return on a tourist visa as we were expecting our 143 at anytime. We had to make two exits after 3 months and a further exit to have the visa granted as the time frame stretched hugely during May & June. They also ran out of visa places so there was a period where no further visas were being processed that year. We had applied for a sponsored 600 visa and we had plenty of money in the bank so no problems financially we were also from the UK. I think Sue was lucky or maybe they have changed the rules but do be aware as our 8053 was totally unexpected. The 8053 also has a no return clause on it so if you leave within the 12 months you have to apply for another visa you cannot come and go on that visa. Good luck with it all. It was worth the tortuous wait to be with our family so hang on in there.
