  1. Hi, wondering if someone could offer advice. We are a family off four, me, wife and two young children aged 1 and 4. My question is is it worth sending medical records at a cost of £50 each when we have no medical history other than vacinations and trips to the doctors for the odd cold etc. We have no medical conditions, neither take any medication. Would be nice to save on the cost really. Thanks in advance!
  2. Hey Sam, Just a bit of advice from me, I had the same apprehension of moving away to australia as a plumber / gas fitter but it didn't stop me applying for a visa. If your considering it and have your heart set on it then go ahead if you don't you might think later in life.. what if? .. Its a massive uphill struggle yes, with lots of money to pay out before you star earning reasonable wages. You have to be realistic when moving with the mind set that you are going to have to start again and life will be tough to begin with. You won't be earning $100,000 a year and going to have to put some hard graft in. Hopefully worth it in the end. I'm going to australia on a 189 permanent resident visa as a general plumber. If I cannot secure work as a plumber then I can apply for any job I wish and it doesn't effect my visa conditions. It's not alll doom and gloom. Keep your chin up and go with your dreams.
  3. Hey , gas fitter is on the skills occupation list (334114). Through TRA you can get information on the route to gain a visa. Don't know the full process but for general plumber gas route there are a lot of courses needed to go on before you can even apply for a visa and your skills will need to be assessed through TRA. You may also have to do gap training of 12 months on a provisional licence while working with someone to convert your qualifications over to the Australian framework.
  4. Thanks for your replies . Decided to go Anglo Pacific as we are not shipping a large amount and they seemed really helpful.
  5. Hi. Don't know what position your in but we just booked our flights to Australia. I have two young children also and thought flight would Be too long for them direct to Australia. We have booked at the transit hotel which is in the departure lounge at the airport, you dont even leave airport so no customs or visa required. We chose to layover the flight with a 10 hour stop off before our connecting flight to Australia. Time to sleep/ rest
  6. Currently in the process of looking at shipping some personal items to Australia next month. Done a bit of research and found Anglo Pacific to be quite reputable with good reviews. We are only shipping. Small amount, about 150 cubic feet. We considered a move cube also. Price wise it was a little bit cheaper for the move cub. Compaired to a shared container with Anglo Pacific. Difference between both companies is Anglo Pacific deliver to my Australian location which is 200k. From the port where as movecube I have to collect from the port. Can anyone give any advice on these or other companies that are good to use? Thanks in advance
  7. Thank you for clearing this up everyone. I couldn't find info online about it. Applied for my AFP clearance on Friday and was pleasantly supprised to see an email saying it's all done and in the post on Sunday! Fingers crossed it arrives this week. Would be nice to have a Grant this week!
  8. Wow that's an agonising wait. I am hoping they come back quickly as co has gave 28 days to get document submitted .
  9. I hope that's so then. Done medicals and UK pcc when I submitted my EOI. As I haven't used a migration agent I overlooked the Australian pcc. Didnt think I would need it as spent 11 months in Australia 9 years ago and two other seperate 3 week holidays. So just takes me over the 12 months unfortunately. So now got to wait for that to come back. I didn't know if they would find other things to request or if the case officer hasn't fully looked at before requesting the Australian PCC. Constant thought at the back of my mind.
  10. hi all, got a co allocated a few days ago. they have requested an Australian police clearance certificate as have been in Australia more than 12 months in the last 10 years. this is the only thing they have requested. I wrung immigration and they said if theres only one thing requested and that's all they want to see? is this true? I have a feeling they will request more info after we submit this. my question is do they normally request further documents only once? or one at a time?
  11. Hey! Just wondering if there's any other plumbers out there applying for a 189 visa? Or plumbers already in Australia? I logged my application on the 27th April. Medicals done, pcc done. Just waiting now. Can see on immigration that only 90 plumbers out of 4500 have had successful visa application this year so doesn't seem like a lot is us are applying this year. Planning on moving to Newcastle nsw. Hope to fly around Aug/September
  12. Hey Neil, I have been through all the processes and currently awaiting a co to be allocated for my visa, loged April 27th. If I can help in any way pm me. I have contact details for licencing etc or info.

    Rant

Sorry I might be missing it but I can't see a link at the foot of the forum relating information. And the last post I can find relating plumbing is 2012. Before skills select? Also licencing has changed and the courses have also as they don't have high immigration numbers so conversion courses are rare. Just seems that department of immigrating doesn't help in providing any information. Thanks

    Rant

Hi first message posted on this forum however been Lurking for months reading the posts. Just a general rant/ question regarding my currrent situation and see if there's anyone out there in my position. Cut a long story short, applied for 189 visa. General plumber. Been a long struggle up hill with countless hurdles and what seems to be a never ending money pot. At the last hurdle UK side at the moment with all documents submitted 26th April, pcc's done and medicals done. Just a waiting game now for co allocation/ Grant approval. Tried my up most best to obtain information on where to attend college for my migrant gap training, where to obtain my provisional plumbing licence and what is required to obtain employment. I seem to have the right information now but considering this is supposed to be a required occupation the government don't make it at all easy for plumbers to gain employment in Australia. Contacting TAFE institutions with detailed questions regarding courses or information they couldn't care less, rather than replying to an email they reply with a generic response by copy and pasting a transcript off the government migrant website. No one seems to have the right information and just points you to websites that just lead you back to where you started.. It has been a dream to move to Australia since my first visit ten years ago. I knew it would be a struggle but the information/training is just not there. Hopefully it will all be worth it. Rant over. Ha. Anyone else having the same sort of issues and wants to share feel free. Would be nice to know I'm not the only one on this boat!
