  1. Yea that playground at Alex is our local, as that is where we live... Moving interstate and buying a house without seeing it is very common so you're not alone haha.. Glad you like the property, there are some beauties in Buderim.
  2. Awesome, Kawana Island is really nice. I work next door in Brightwater at Mink Property. We haven't been to the group for a while now we're up in Alex, I think it was a Tuesday when we went. There's also one in Maroochydore, which is probably closer, but I haven't been to that one.
  3. We could do with some furniture... Are you on the Sunshine Coast?
  4. It would workout much cheaper to rent for a while once you arrive in the UK then arrange a standard owner occupier mortgage. Are you moving back from the Sunshine Coast?
  5. Hey Nina Not sure if you're already here, but I work for Mink Property in Brightwater, which is in Mountain Creek. You will only get a holiday rental for 2-3 months as permanent rentals only offer a minimum of a 6 months lease. Furnished properties are very rare and either low quality or high end, you may have better luck contacting the holiday complexes and asking them if they have any permanent rentals... Give me a shout if you need any further help
  6. Hey Sharon Whereabouts in Caloundra are you? We're up in Alexandra Headlands but all the people we met when we first got here live in Caloundra as we started off living in Kings Beach. Have you taken the young one to any playgroups? There's a good one on Sugar Bag Road called Mainly Music I think.
  7. fire away... I'm from Sheffield, so just the other side of the peaks.. Currently on Alexandra Headland and been here just over a year.
  8. If you private message me I can help you with your property needs, but no idea when it comes to separation laws.
  9. Hey We are on the same visa and live on the Sunshine Coast (14ish months), which doesn't feel very regional at all. It's an amazing place to live, but work can be difficult to find. I know someone who has moved here from Toowoomba and had a horrible time there as people were very clicky and pretty racist towards the English. But that's my only experience of Toowoomba so obviously doesn't tell the whole story. If you do decide to head to the Sunny Coast give me a shout and I can help you with any property needs. I work for Mink Property in Mountain Creek.
  10. I work in Brightwater and a lot of people move in here for the school which is very highly sort after, so I would inquire about getting your children in before coming over. Brightwater is a great place for families, by Queensland standards it is very crowded (with houses being so close together) but from our point of view it is very spacious, with parks, walkways, a lake and it is very clean. Compared to an English estate you will love it, although it does feel very purpose built, which it obviously is, but English estates tend to feel more organic. If that makes sense.
  11. I live on the Sunny Coast next to Mooloolaba on Alexandra Headlands, but I work in Mountain Creek (10 minutes away). Ive heard a lot of people talking about the horrendous commute to Brissy and how a lot of people do it because there isn't much work on the coast. So people do, but people also suffer. I work for Mink Property, so if you need any advice on renting or buying property over here, give me a shout as things are very different from the UK.
  12. Hey Nina I have been on Alexandra Headland for just over a year now. Buderim is a great place, I'm sure you are loving it. I go to a playgroup, which would be good for the twins (I think there's 4 sets of twins that go there), its on Wises Road, Maroochydore at the Lifepointe church. It is open on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:30. You will meet lots of people there, everyone is very friendly. If you are looking to rent or buy a property, give me a shout. I work for Mink Property in Mountain creek.
  13. Exciting times ahead....good luck... Enjoy the flight, haha
  14. The rental market/application process can be tricky.. I work for Mink Property in Mountain Creek, so if you need any advice let me know..
  15. Just out of interest which part of Australia are you having issue with? We are having to think about similar issue also..
  16. So there's a few people who have done the whole backwards and forwards thing. Anyone on the Sunny Coast thinking of going back? We are in two minds.
  17. We are really thinking the same, but we are on the Sunshine Coast where it is slow. Where are you? Have you thought about moving to the city for a more cultured and dynamic lifestyle?
  18. There are particular types of mortgages that make it easier for someone in your position e.g. self cert mortgages. The problem you may have with that though is your current address, which is obviously not in the UK. We have recently started thinking about heading back, are you moving back from the Sunshine Coast?
  19. I would check with your bank, sometimes the rates aren't that much worse and for piece of mind it is often better. That's what I did with HSBC. We have recently started thinking about heading back actually, are you moving back from the Sunshine Coast?
  20. Hey katenollie I would be interested to see how you get on with that stuff as we have recently started thinking about moving back and would need to resolve similar issues. Are you moving from the Sunshine Coast?
  21. Hey kiwiinaus Wow, you have some of the same issues me and my partner are having, but not sure a move back will resolve them. Are you moving back from the Sunshine Coast?
  22. Yeah you really need to watch out for the additional charges at the other end and there could be unexpected ones too, mainly if they deem any specifications to not meet European standards. Are you moving from the Sunshine Coast? I know someone who would be interested in looking at them if you sold them.
  23. Awesome... We are starting to think about heading back too, any of you guys moving back from the Sunshine Coast?
  24. Hey Rhenny We have recently started thinking about going back too, are you leaving from anywhere near the Sunshine Coast?
  25. Anyone moving back to the UK from the Sunshine Coast?
