  1. Damn, just found out it was great grandparent and not grandparent, so that won't work. What a shame that the Youth Mobility will get cancelled Would it not just get re-assessed? Any other ideas anyone? Will be very hard for me to get a job as I will be a young mum, try and save the 60,000 GBP which is a lot!:arghh:
  2. He does have an English Grandma, however sadly not alive anymore. Does this help us with an Ancestry Visa? Yes the Youth Mobility Visa is the one we have heard of, seems like a good plan for us, however pre-birth from the sounds of it. Looking like we may be speeding up the move!
  3. Thanks everyone for your comments, Sorry on this question I didn't correctly ask it, do I need a Return Resident Visa for the UK? I will not be coming back to Aus for anything other than a holiday!
  4. Also for me, do I need a returning resident visa? I have been in Aus for 4 years this Oct.
  5. Hi All I'm a UK citizen with Aussie Permanent Residency. My Husband is an Aussie and we are expecting our first child in October! YAY! We were going to be moving back to the UK after the birth however would it be preferential to move beforehand due to babys visa / citizenship? A few questions here so I'll number them! 1- If baby is born here, presume it becomes an Aussie citizen with an Aussie Passport? 2 - Does baby need a UK passport? If so, is it hard to get? Trying to work out basically if it is worth leaving pre-birth or not... 3 - What is the process with hubby and getting him a visa and eventually PR over there? He is only 26, I heard he can get a special visa as he is under 30 (or something) which makes it easier for him to work? Thanks everyone in advance! Roll on the cold Christmases (the only way to be!)
  6. Nice idea, however we want out... soon! So not willing to wait really... Hmm.. So job or 62k seems to be the answer.. Thanks everyone..
  7. Ah ok.. Yes a UK born grandparent, but no longer alive? Does this mean anything?
  8. Hi Everyone.. I have been in Oz for 3 years now and have been granted residency here (wooo!) I am recently married to my Aus husband and now we are looking into moving back to the UK. What is the deal with his rights, working etc? Does he get anything automatically being married to me? Or anything beneficial as I'm a resident now? Confused!!:arghh: Thanks
  9. Hey everyone! Just a quick question, I'm not sure if this is possible or not... My partner and I currently reside in Oz and he is on an apprenticeship, is there anyway of continuing this back in the UK, or is it a restart all over again job? Thanks very much

    Police Checks

Hi There Is there a cost for police checks here in Australia (de-facto visa application) Does anyone know how much it costs? Also how long it could take? I believe I also need to get a check from the UK (where i used to live before moving to Oz) would anyone who moved from the UK know if this would be a CRB check from the UK? And also time taken and cost? Thanks for your help.
  11. Hi Everyone I'm sure this is a burning questions that splits most of this forum! I am soon to apply for a de-facto visa and looking through the application with everything that needs to be done is very daunting! (also promted a few tears!) so I am thinking of using a migration agent. Im about an hour away from Melbourne, can anyone recommend one in this area? Also average cost?? I can't seem to find one for under 2.5k however on the dept of immigrations website they say it can start from 1.5k. Presumably cheap doesn't nessesary mean better but I'm trying to keep the cost down slightly! Thanks
  12. Sorry completely missed this post! Are you in VIC?
  13. Hey Has anyone ever had any luck with cancelling Qatar flights and getting a refund? I booked a 2 way flight to OZ and I dont need the return leg anymore, any chance of getting the money back or does it depend on the fare? I called the office here and they told me I have to call the UK to find out!!!
  14. You can never have enough licences!! Thanks for your help everyone, Im in VIC and Im pretty sure I can have the year on my UK licence and then I will apply for the OZ one, so glad I dont have to take a test!! Any ideas on the fees?
  15. Hey, As far as I'm aware whilst on a working holiday visa you can drive on a full UK licence with no further bits required. But what happens when I apply for my de-facto visa? Are the rules still the same with reference to the fact I have a full UK licence, or do I need to apply for something, or do I have to take a driving test over here even? Thanks in advance :cute:
