  1. You experience is inspiring Paul1Perth. As you suggested, I will keep my options wide and open and look for work not close to my actual experience as long as it keeps me going. Eventually some day, I think I should land up in a job of my choice Thanks!
  2. I got you. It indeed is a risk but I had no other options as I moved here with my wife who had the job offer in hand (thanks to the healthcare sector). I shall keep my options wide and start applying for junior roles as well, as you suggested. Thanks Parleycross!
  3. This is exactly what I keep hearing from other folks as well, there's no dearth of PM's in Sydney. The thing is I don't have any programming or networking skills to start with a junior role, so what best I can do is to apply for business analyst roles as well.
  4. I've got PMP and ACP certifications parleycross. Not sure if I should be preparing for PRINCE2 as well, would you suggest that?
  5. What you just said gives me a ray of hope:) Are you a PM wolvesaussie?
  6. So as the title says, I am an IT project manager with around 11 years of experience in the IT&T sector. I moved to Sydney in the mid of June and have been actively looking for similar openings since then, but haven't gotten lucky yet. I was intervwed by a company twice for a profile exactly matching my experience and was informed by my consultant that I shall be called for the final round of interview (which never happened). 2 weeks after that I was informed that they hired someone close to the hiring manager . I got 2-3 calls from other recruiters after that but none of them turned into an interview. It's going to be almost 2 months since I arrived here (I know it usually takes around 5-6 months to land in a job here) but everyday I am losing hopes. I would like to hear from my fellow IT folks around here about their experiences finding a job and maybe share some tips one needs to follow while looking our for openings. Cheers, Varun
  7. Hello Stuart, I and my wife are moving to Sydney this mid June and we will be happy to meet you and Laura. Let me know know if you are still looking for people to hang out with and we can plan a get together then. Cheers!
  8. We are a married couple in our 30's and are moving to Sydney this mid June. We both are easy going, love to go out for drinks, walks and are fitness freaks. We will be happy to meet couples who we can go out with, spend weekends and explore Sydney together. Looking forward to hear from all you nice people out there:) Cheers!
  9. My MARA submitted the nomination and filed the visa on 8th April 2015. The status today changed from "in progress" to "assessment in progress". Does that indicate anything? Cheers, Varun
