Majority of Australian seafarers are employed in offshore oil and gas sector

From 14 Dec 15, the workers on vessels in the offshore oil and gas industry do not need visa. This should hit the industry badly.

Yes, It is normal for DIBP to see how many visas they have issued against the plan. The last year, upto May, they had issued far less visas than planned for the year, so they granted alot of visas in June to be in line with yearly budget.
