  1. From 14 Dec 15, the workers on vessels in the offshore oil and gas industry do not need visa. This should hit the industry badly.
  2. They did'nt return me the letters when I went for orals. Perhaps, they forgot to do so. However, they returned my letters with COR.
  3. As Capt C mentioned, After my oral exam in Brisbane, I also filled form 419, paid for COR-COC and COR-GMDSS and international courier fee. Now, after obtaining residency, I sent the visa details by email and they have posted the documents to me and I have received the docs. I think for your case, you will have to fill form 419 and send them an email to know the detailed procedure. I emailed to : quals@amsa.gov.au
  4. Yes, If we can get it. The cost of application and time involved demands that one has to be sure of what he is claiming.
  5. Thanks for your useful input. Someone who has done this can give his input.
  6. Practically, I would tend to rely on what Capt C said. However, this is from http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189- "The relevant assessing authority for your nominated occupation can usually determine whether your qualifications are of a standard that is comparable to a relevant Australian qualification. If the relevant assessing authority that conducts your skills assessment cannot give you an opinion about your qualifications, contact Vocational Education Training and Assessment Services."
  7. This is beyond my understanding. Apparently, any foreign degree need to be assessed. I thought VETASSESS or some other authority may be required. OR There might be some exemption rule which I am not aware of OR Case Officer might let go the need for assessment at their own. Someone might help me make a clear picture on this.
  8. You should have three years from your first day as a Third Officer to present (assuming that you are still employed but on leave)
  9. Yes all the year, It was easy for me, I have over eight years of service with one employer.
  10. This might be required. but i did not submit this. I sent the employer letter upfront with application and stated that I could not get Marshall Island PCC. My CO, when assigned, asked for form 80 but did not talk about PCC at all.
  11. Yes, I provided letter from my employer stating that length of service and my conduct was good during this period.
  12. I have uploaded form 80. I provided good conduct letter from employer.
  13. I have submitted the additional docs required by case officer. Now waiting
  14. Got CO allocated on 10th June. He asked me for some docs which I could'nt provide yet as I have been busy. In this week, I will send the required docs.
