From 14 Dec 15, the workers on vessels in the offshore oil and gas industry do not need visa. This should hit the industry badly.- 737 replies

As Capt C mentioned, After my oral exam in Brisbane, I also filled form 419, paid for COR-COC and COR-GMDSS and international courier fee. Now, after obtaining residency, I sent the visa details by email and they have posted the documents to me and I have received the docs. I think for your case, you will have to fill form 419 and send them an email to know the detailed procedure. I emailed to : quals@amsa.gov.au -

Yes, If we can get it. The cost of application and time involved demands that one has to be sure of what he is claiming. -

Practically, I would tend to rely on what Capt C said. However, this is from http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189- "The relevant assessing authority for your nominated occupation can usually determine whether your qualifications are of a standard that is comparable to a relevant Australian qualification. If the relevant assessing authority that conducts your skills assessment cannot give you an opinion about your qualifications, contact Vocational Education Training and Assessment Services."
