  1. Heh, well I will keep that in mind. Anyway, I will go and speak to a MARA Agent. See if they can suggest any further advice on whether we might qualify for something somewhere. I will also be sure to keep this thread informed of the result, be it good or bad. Thanks again everyone for your help and advice. Best wishes! Matt & Emma
  2. Aye, they have been at fault and as you say, we have been to happy to believe what they have said. If anyone could tell me though whether looking for a sponsorship in Australia while out here on a holiday visa is a no no it would be much appreciated. That was one of the last bits of info they gave me. Thanks again everyone.
  3. As you say, I don't think it's looking good for my partner to get sponsored. I will take a look into a Migration Agent. I don't suppose anyone can recommend a good one. Also I just noticed on another post that, Blossom, you and another mentioned that coming into Australia on a holiday visa and then looking for a potential sponsorship is not allowed?
  4. Ah great, a Mara Agent, I will look into it! Thank you.
  5. They are going to sort out the flights back. The thing that has annoyed us I guess is the fact that from the first time they told us of the opportunity they constantly told me that everything is fine and I would be able to work out here. It's just not the case. May I ask as to what charting to a good mara is? Thank you. Is that chatting?
  6. I should add by the way. I have referred to my misses as Em at points in there!
  7. I'll give the full story! Thanks for your advice so far! I've got a feeling it's going to be bad news as far as me working though! We were told about the possibility of coming out here one week before my 31st birthday annoyingly. I asked my partner if we needed to apply for my working visa as due to my incoming birthday (18 Dec) Her work told her not to worry. I would get into Australia de facto. (we should of ignored them at this point but we wasn't 100% on the ins and out of it or whether we would be able to go) Then then told her they would sponsor her to go out there. It got close to the date of us coming out (4 days before we fly out - 22nd Jan) No time to sponsor her before leaving, so they put em on a working holiday visa and myself a holiday visa for 6 months (told us they would change it when we were out here). My holiday visa didn't get approved until the day we left (yikes) On arrival here, the UK office told us they were not going to sponsor her here. They told me I would be able to approach companies and get sponsored easily. We spoke to the Australian office about the situation. At present. Emma (misses) will have to leave in 6 months. They will then have to get a temp in and my misses will have to do a handover for the temp etc. Because of these reasons Australia were really keen to go for the sponsorship and potentially keep us out here longer (until end of maternity cover). The job title my misses has is to do with customer services. The UK office have disagreed she has 3 years experience and are now saying they will not sponsor her. She has been with the company about 3yrs 8months although she has trained for the role the experience is a little short. As you say. I don't think there is an opportunity for her to be sponsored. So anyway. that has now left me here on a holiday visa. I originally trained in an apprenticeship as a Building Surveyor and have a BSc in Building surveying (finished this 8 years ago). Although working in an office wasn't for me. I then moved on to Marquee Erecting/Rigging etc. I then moved onto Scaffolding. I also have my class 2 HGV (Rigid) Now... Unfortunately the one job I have on the SOL list I have not done in 8 years. Scaffolding as I mentioned earlier is not on the SOL or CSOL list. So I guess, regarding being able to work out here. I'm buggered? Thanks again for those who have responded! Matt
  8. I was worried that would be the case. My misses has worked for that company for a long time. Not really sure what she would think about finding a new sponsor! I did previously work in a profession that is on the SOL list. But that was 8 years ago. I presume there is no angle to work on there?
  9. Hi all! I'm new to the forum! Stumbled across the site while trying to find a way out of my Australian visa pickle. I would really appreciate any thoughts, help and advice on any opportunity to be able to work out here temporarily. My misses was given the opportunity to work out here by her company offices in both the UK and Australia (Sydney). Originally they planned to sponsor her which would of meant I could have looked for work as her de facto. Due to time constraints of us getting out here they sent her out on a working holiday visa and myself on a visitors visa with the intention of changing visas out here... They have now changed their minds and do not intend to sponsor my partner. This has left us with a bit of a problem. I am over 31 and a scaffolder by trade, which I can see is not on either the SOL or the CSOL. On searching the net I have found only one firm that looks like they sponsor overseas scaffolders. I have reached out to them today and am hoping for some advice from them also. Does anyone have any thoughts on the possibility of myself being able to work out here? We are currently in Sydney. Any help or advice would be truly appreciated. Thank you very much. Matt
