  1. Hi Maggie, thank you for your answer. As I am freelance, I have been self-employed for several years (since 2012). Do you think that would count for WA? I will contact a migration agent during the coming week, I hope they will be able to come up with something indeed
  2. Hi wrussell, Yes, I am interested in ways to approach this. I am a bit desperate though, because Victoria would be my ideal choice, and it seems Translator is not on their list at the moment (although weirdly enough, Interpreter is).
  3. Understood, thanks for the clarification. I will do my best and come back here if I have further questions. Hope this can also help future candidates.
  4. Okay, so NAATI actually assumes this part of the process, which means that in my case, I won't need state nomination, am I right (or still utterly confused)?
  5. Thanks for your answer, lebourvellec. So what you mean is that even if "translator" does not appear on that list, it doesn't mean I can't have a state nomination for it? Or is my attempt doomed? If it is indeed possible to proceed, as a translator, what do I need to do to get it? Victoria's website is a bit vague :\
  6. Hi there! I am a freelance translator overseas, I wish to emigrate to Australia and I really struggle to find any information about this online. First of all: my profession being on the CSOL list, does it mean I am absolutely required to have State sponsorship? On the occupation list for Victoria (I'd like to settle down in Melbourne), "translator" doesn't even appear: http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au/visas-and-immigrating/occupation-lists/state-nomination-occupation-list-for-victoria :frown: Another question-mark: I have to pass the NAATI accreditation by testing, but do I do this for the CCL points (Credentialed Community Language) or for the Skills Assessment? Or for both? Also: once I'm accredited by NAATI, will I be allowed to translate my immigration documents myself for SkillSelect? Has anyone here been in this situation or does anyone know a translator who has been through this and that I could contact? Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance for your help :cute:
