  1. that is unusual, a lot of job are pretty much on equal or less pay than the same pay in UK. My sister works in medical field in Perth and said that public health jobs pay better than agency and are more sought after. Whereas in UK, agency can often pay more if you are willing to be flexible.
  2. You child can have a great and fulfilling life in the UK very easily. I wouldn't base a decision to move on that alone.
  3. Thanks, I'll take a look into it
  4. You don't need data switched on once your have set your route with Google maps and it will track you on the map, just not give turn instructions. Other big advantage of having data switched on is live traffic info and re-routing though based on my road trip, outside of urban areas didn't get much traffic anyway.
  5. I've been having a look at guardianship options for my kids. My wife doesn't have any family in the UK and from my side of the family the best option we would consider is my sister who is in Perth. I take it that in the event something happened to my wife and myself that it wouldn't be as simple as my sister coming to the UK and the children being able to return with her ?
  6. Google Maps caches maps or you can download areas while you are on wifi. I mapped my route while on wifi then my total download while on the road for 1000km of touring was around 50mb, that included live traffic updates which are free with Google maps.
  7. yes they will work as long as they are not carrier locked. I used google maps on my android phone for a 1000km road trip from Perth down the south coast without problems. Just bought a car mount and charger along with me when I visited. Just need to ensure that you have 3G data enabled.
  8. Wow, you bought 5 million dollars with you. I better rethink how much money I am going to need, lol.
  9. she doesn't have to legally start school until the first term after her 5th birthday, so that would be Jan 2017. However I think it would make sense to fill in the application in case there is any delay in your move and in theory if your move is delayed to 2017 then you could start getting fined if she is not in full time education. If you get a 2016 date confirmed then just tell the school that she won't be starting but if it is going to be late December or something then it could well be worth her doing a term to get used to going to school. At that age they adapt very well and a move after a term is unlikely to have a big impact.

    Hi

Just wanted to say a quick hi. Found the forum through a google search looking for information and tips for immigrating to oz. Founds loads of useful information so I thought its best if I signed up. Just come back from a 3 week visit to family in Perth with a mind to moving at some point. Didn't see anything to put us off so now starting from scratch to research what's requied. Know very little so I am probably going to be asking from pretty dumb questions. I've visited the immigration website and looks like both myself and my wife have jobs that qualify under Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List. That is about as far as I have got. Thanks,
