  1. Hi Rachel Speak with Deryck at Burhill Cargo-Care on 01784 473815 - deals with a lot of personal effects - really nice bloke and tell him Olly put you in touch ! Thanks Olly
  2. unfortunately you still have to take it - qualifications are irrelevant - don't underestimate it either as you can get caught short if you don't follow the process. Good luck - the weirdest thing for me was being back in a classroom for the first time in 23 years !
  3. To be fair they just said it changes all the time - I don't think they have misled me in anyway I think we were just awaiting for my occupation to be on the Queensland list - so far it hasn't - I have no idea if or when it ever will. I sent an email today and they have responded accordingly so have put my mind at ease a little - they are good guys and have been really good throughout but I guess they are only really good when they have done their job and I have a visa in hand! They sent me a link to SA where you are correct my skill is in demand - if there is a moral obligation but not a legal one to stay in SA for two years how is this policed? Surely this is the way to go and apply to there but I feel a bit uncomfortable if I was doing this to have no intention to work or live there?
  4. actually I just checked the code on the application and it is only 11111 ! If they have submitted the wrong code I will be furious and it may be the reason I have heard nothing since July !!
  5. Hi Thanks for the email - Have just checked the code and I must have erroneously deleted a 1 on the ANZSCO code when I copy pasted it! I think they have the right code I have passed the skills assessment and got a positive response from the institute of Managers and an 8.5 in the IELTS test - to be honest I have left it with Migrate Me but am now losing faith having read the above - SA or WA aren't really helpful to me as my wife's family live in Brisbane! Not sure what I should do now - they have told me all along that I would be ok to get an invite to Queensland and not to worry - the fact it is taking so long is causing me to worry now. The horrible thing is it feels like my life is on hold at the moment - if I can move over on a visa then that is brilliant - if I can't then at least I know and can plan my future accordingly and stop dreaming of emigrating - I would be gutted though
  6. Copy pasted from the T&C's Nominated Occupation: Managing Director Business Owner: 50% Shareholder of Ltd company with a yearly turnover of no less than 1Million GBP's Anzsco Code: 11111 Age: 15pts (Aged between 40 - 44 Years) Language: 20pts (English Language Test Required) Employment: 15pts (Have worked in your nominated occupation for no less than 8 years in the last 10) Education: 10pts (Meets the requirement for AIM - above) Sponsoring State: 5pts (TBC by client as to ideal location) Criminal Record: No Including family Dependants Medical Conditions: No Including dependants Dependant details: Wife + Children under 18 years Areas of concern: N/A TOTAL SCORED: 65pts Service Type State Sponsored Permanent Residency Includes all aspects of the Permanent Residency Application: ● Skills Assessment ● Expression of Interest ● Invitation to Apply ● Obtaining state sponsorship ● Final Application submission for all family members ● Appeal Process if applicable ● Assistance with Medical and Criminal checks I am worried now - all along I have been told it was only a matter of time but think I migh be missing something by just sitting and waiting ?!
  7. That worries me - I am with migrate me as well and my application went it July 5th and despite me chasing numerous times ( in fact so much that I think I am a bit of a pain in the ass!) I have had nothing back on the EOI - MM keep telling me they have not had a response and it's fairly normal to take this long. Am I right to be worried that in nearly 5 months I have heard nothing ? I am on 65 points and I think the 190 visa I don't want to be too pushy but it seems when you were pushy you got the response you were looking for !! I have no complaints about Migrate Me communication wise but I am just getting nothing back from the embassy!
  8. Thanks for the reply I believe that we have submitted the application and are just awaiting an EOI from any state - our preferred one is Queensland as this is where my wife's family live (Brisbane) but I am told it isn't an issue as the states change all the time what they are after ? To be honest I haven't ever seen the occupation list so I wouldn't know where to start - my business is logistics but I think it maybe the fact that I am a 50% shareholder and director in a successful business rather than the logistics bit that is the 'skill' that I am on the list for. I just want to get it all sorted - it seems so long ago that the application went in - very frustrating but hopefully worth the wait in the end ( assuming a state does actually express an interest!)
  9. Hi There I used Migrate Me as well who I have to say have been excellent throughout - frustratingly my stage 1 application went in on July 5th and I am still awaiting EOI. I have applied on State Sponsored Permanent residency visa and I had 65 points - not sure if this visa has a number to be honest! I own my own Logistics business which is pretty successful and have passed the skills assessment which I'm told is the hardest part and the rest is just a matter of time for the EOI but it is starting to do my head in a little bit now how long it is taking. You can't help worrying it will never happen but hopefully there si nothing to worry about !
  10. It is certainly worth making the effort with revision - if you haven't been in a classroom for 20 years then that's pretty weird to start with ! I needed to gain a score of 8 for my visa and thankfully I managed to sneak in with an 8.5 but I would definitely recommend have a good look into it beforehand and having a go at the sample papers. Good luck
  11. Hi All Firstly I am not sure if I am actually allowed to write a message such as this - if I am not then I apologise to those concerned but I can assure you there is no malice intended. Basically to cut a long story short I am in the process of applying for residency in Australia as my wife's family live in Brisbane, my father originates from Sydney and to be honest I fancy the change! Have had enough of the grey skies..... I am a 50% shareholder and director in a successful logistics business based next to the Port of Felixstowe for Seafreight and warehousing and we have an office in Heathrow focusing on airfreight. The business is the main reason I have been able to pass the skills assessment for the VISA and everything is slowly falling into place - Frustratingly I am in the EOI stage which is taking a while but I am assured it is a matter of 'when' not 'if' My long term plan is to open an office in Brisbane as part of my current set up, move over there with my wife and young family and I run the Australian office or branch whatever you want to call it. Before this happens I am actively looking at increasing my business to and from the UK/Aus trade lane to make things easier and also meaning I need to be going over regularly on business before any potential move. Whilst we have shipped cars and caravans and have global partners who we have worked with for many years including every major port in Australia we have never really dipped into the personal effects market - we have never really needed to to be honest but personally this is an area I am now keen to look at. After signing up for this site to get general information on my own situation and the questions I have it on possible emigration it dawned on me that I might be able to assist people here who probably know little about shipping and logistics whilst at the same time increasing my business on a trade lane that will be of a benefit to me personally. Without a doubt there can be some synergies and mutual benefit for both parties. What I will give anyone who would be interested to discuss any movements is 100% honesty and assurances that I would be involved at all times - this is my own business and my own personal mission to move to Australia so I am sure I could help you whilst helping myself if it was of interest. Rather than put my company details on this message which might not be allowed I guess the best way to contact me is to PM me if anyone is interested - hopefully the above is all ok and I am not seen to be plugging something I shouldn't be but as a few of you guys are in a similar situation to me just further down the line I am positive I can help you if you wanted me to look at anything for you to be shipped or sent by Air to Australia. Many thanks for your time and hopefully hear from you at some stage soon. Olly
  12. Hi there I own my own logistics business and own my own warehouse in Felixstowe and I am pretty sure I could save you money on that if you wanted to discuss a bit more? I am in the process of applying for residency to Aus and am really keen to up my business on the Aus trade to enable opening an office in Brisbane a little easier ! PM me if of interest as I could help you and save you some money and you could help me Thanks
  13. Many thanks - interesting reading I always getting confused with the 'private' schools over there compared to over here! Private is paid in Australia I think ? My two kids go to a fee paying school and I would be looking for something similar over there I would imagine but the most important thing is finding the right school so my kids are happy as this is very important of course. It seems you are all set to go with flights booked !
  14. Hi Tina Thanks so much for the reply - always nice to hear people are happy with the move ! My wife's family live in Thornlands which seemed quite nice and I will probably look somewhere in the Eastern Surburbs but not sure - think the nicest places are all the most expensive like Wellington Point, Cleveland ? I am planning on coming over in January or February 'on business' to have a look round and see where is the best place for us - schools are really important for the kids, they love school here and it's a bit risk moving them especially if they don't like the new school! What work do you and your husband do may I ask? The reason I ask is my stage 1 visa application went in on 5th July this year and haven't had the EOI yet - this is normal apparently but it's getting a little frustration as am kind of in limbo until all the paperwork is sorted. How is Bayside ? Thanks Olly
  15. Hi All Am new to this forum and just thought I would say hi. My wife's family live in Brisbane and last Christmas we went over to see them and had such a good time we are currently applying for residency and thinking of moving over in the next year or two - we have a 5 yr old girl and 7 year old boy so not an easy decision! My father was schooled in Sydney and moved to the UK when he was 19 only to return with my English mother when they were married and had my sister who is the only member of the family to have an Australian passport as was born there. My Father was born in Singapore and never thought at the time to get himself an Aussie passport which would have entitled me to one as I was born in the UK after they returned back to the UK for work reasons. I have been to Australia 7 times now and have always had an affinity with the place due to previous family connections and my Aunt lives in Sydeny, just by chance I met my wife 10 years ago whose family live in Brisbane and we are now looking to possibly make the move. I run a successful logistics business in the UK which is the main reason it looks like our visa application should be successful - it has nothing to do with family connections through either my side or my wife's side - apparently my business 'skills' are what allows us to be granted a visa - am currently in the 'expression of interest' stage which having passed the skills assessment ( apparently the hardest part) and the IELTS exam it's just a waiting game I'm told by my migration expert - hopefully they are right! As businesses go , with the global nature of logistics it is properly the perfect business to be involved in to maintain a connection with the UK allowing me to fly back on business if and when it is needed - therein lies my main challenge now to try and find a way to dramatically increase my business to and from Aus over the next few months to make the setting up of an office over there much easier and a serious option for the business and my business partner. Not quite sure how to tackle this but if anyone has any contacts with people either side of the world who import or export I am all ears ! I think about moving everyday and the pro's and cons but am definitely more in favour of emigrating than staying but I am terrified of making the decision to go and it's a huge mistake and we have to come back. By applying for residency now I would at least have the option to decide which I never had previously and 12 years ago when I lived in Sydney for 8 months i would have bitten my arm of for the privilege of resindency! Those of you that on this forum that have emigrated - did you have these same thoughts when you were still here, leaving family, friends etc ? Any regrets ? I would be really interested to hear peoples thoughts but understand it has probably been discussed many times on this forum before but any help would be appreciated Cheers guys Olly
