  1. Hi everyone, My friend is an OT here in the UK with one years experience. We are both confused over the process to get registered in Aus. Would someone be able to simply the process for me please? Kind regards Danny
  2. Ahh ok, well that makes sense thanks  So bascially if UK increase and Aus decrease then happy days. What if the US raise it? Will that have an impact on GBP/AUD too?
  3. Sorry to sound like a muppet, but what does that mean please? I am still learning all about these things. Cheers
  4. I am not neccessarily looking to transfer it right this second. I just want to be able to have that option when we feel it is the right time because of the rates. I would hate it if we waited for 2017 and it went down below $2 again. I just wanted to make sure I was armed with all the information possible.
  5. To be fair he was not pushing it at all. He said not to send all of it in case things improve. Probably the least pushy person I have ever spoken to
  6. On doing the medical before or after...it is upto you. There is no rule of thumb. I did mine after the EOI but it would be upto you. This is also the same for the police check. You just have to remember that you only have 12 months to enter the country from your point of getting medical or police check done whichever is up first. Eg. I did medical in Oct 2014, visa Granted Nov 2014. Had to set foot by Oct 2014. Did so in July this year just to get to activated.
  7. as an update. Spoke to a guy from commenwealth bank and he said I could transfer money now even if I wasn't moving until 2017. We can't access the money unless we were in Aussie, however. As long as I make a payment every few months it would be fine. Even suggested a few third party exchangers. So at least that is a worry off my mind. Although I was not sure at first because there own website said upto three months of moving but he was happy with Christmas 2017.
  8. This is what I am not sure about, yes, I remember when I was a kid it was 2.5 - 1. I keep reading that it is going to get even better and I thinking if it went to 2.25-2.3 then that would be a good time. I feel like a gambler at the casino.
  9. To both supercow and benji1980, would that still apply for me if I was not moving until 2017 if for arguments sake I put it in now?
  10. Ok brilliant thanks for the help guys. I am still as much research as I can. Some banks would take our money if we were moving say in twelve months. However, we will be longer than 12 months. I see what you mean by the aussie rate, it is all over the place at the moment. It looks like it is going more in our favour at present.
  11. Hi everyone, I am hoping to move to australia in 2017. We have the 189 visa and it is all activated. The question I have is what to do with my money now. I cannot open a bank account over there as I do not have an address over there yet. So I am wondering what to do. I am considering this could be the best time to exchange money but I am not sure where and how. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys Danny
  12. Yeh they did. As soon as I got my report from counsellor they had it done within the week. However, it then took another week for the CO to grant the visa. It was a tad frustrating but we got it in the end
  13. We did everything by ourself. If you read stuff online or ask people on here you can do it without an agent. I would have done it all before the case officer was allocated but we needed a report from my counsellor. I could have had it all 2 weeks ago. This forum is invaluable, cheers for all the help guys.
  14. Monday blues......nahh....Monday visas more like  its arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sydney 2016 here we come !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Just noticed this today by the medical bit..... Meeting the health requirement Health has been finalised for this person for this visa subclass based on the information provided to the department. If this person needs to do anything further to meet the health requirement, they will be contacted by the department. There is no need to contact the department at this time concerning this matter. does that mean medicals are now uploaded. That was the only thing we were waiting for/CO wanted. cheers guys
  16. Yes, you have one year to validate it from the date of grant. That means you just have to set foot in the country within a year. Even if it is just to walk in customs and get interviewed for border patrol australia (add in theme music). My fiance and I will not be ready by 2015, so we will be going for a holiday to Sydney to activate it and then go for real in 2016.
  17. Well done guys for getting direct grants. Me and missus got a case officer today and the only thing they wanted was......the medical This has already been done but they just need a report from my counsellor to start processing it. So I reckon if I get my report in early this week the visa will be granted. It is nearly party time everyone else celebrate!!!!!
  18. From the looks of it, they are starting to come through. I put mine in 25 sept so I reckon it will come through in another 2-3 weeks (if all all documents are ok).
  19. Thank you so much for everyones help. Wow I feel so much better than I previously did. I am seeing my counsellor on Monday and he will complete the report and send that off to the medical people asap who will then complete my medcial as that is all their waiting on. As for everything else I think that we have everything. If there is anything else anyone can think of please let me know. Me: masters degree, BA degree, AASW skills assessment, passport, Birth certiciate, PCC, IELTS (also can I add....what a ball ache that thing was) finace: passport, letter from uni to prove english, PCC and Birth certiciate Both: 5x photos over 8 years, 4x statements from families and friends, statement from each of us, 2 x phone bills, 4x holiday receipts over four years, 2x proof of address for each (we live at her parents so do not own property), wedding invite 2014 and 2015, our engagement party invite for next saturday. Medicals will be up I reckon end of next week. Anyone think I will need to add anything else We do not think we will be ready by 2015, so plan to go sydney for a visit to activate it and then move for real in mid 2016, so we can save our little pennies before then and yes Matt, I am a worrier, you should have seen me before the IELTS test cheers everyone you do not know how much have you helped.
  20. Ah right ok, well that makes me feel a lot better. The police checks came back clear (which they should have) and the medicals are just waiting for a report from the counsellor so I am not worried. We have no other health conditions so we should be fine. i guess I wasn't sure at what stage I was upto as I have done this by myself. But if it's just a matter of wait now. Hopefully we have everything needed. I think I took the end of the invitation period as when all the documents had to be in. Thanks for the help everyone.
  21. It says on the top of the attach document bit, application submitted and application paid for both on the 25/09. So does that mean I just have to upload documents now and then wait. Sorry I know this sounds dumb
  22. Hi everyone this is my first post. I have been looking at this website for ages and it has helped me so much. However, I have got myself in a pickle and I'm not sure if I am doing this right. i received my invitation at the beginning of sept and paid the money for the visa 25/09. I have nearly all of the forms uploaded including pcc. My finance and I had our medicals on saturday. However, they said they could not process my medical information without a report from my counsellor (anxiety related). He is willing do this on Monday but I worry I am going to run out of time. i received invite on 08/09 and it runs out 07/11. If I don't submit my medical information by then is that it. I'm just not sure, on the 'my account' as you log in. It says submit application.....should I only click that once the medical stuff is sorted. I don't have a case officer and I'm confused about what to do next. Any help would be great thank you
