I have been in Oz a month and I found a fruit picking job after one day of looking at a job club, I'm in Sydney working as a office temp seems to be loads of jobs around at the moment because everyone has gone north for the winter. I would sign up to loads of agencies how I found my job and I know loads of other that did it that way.

I'm heading out 5th May getting pretty excited and nervous now!

Hi Abbie, £3000 should be enough as its over the $5000 limit they ask you to bring. I'm not sure how much money you should take as I have not done a WHV yet but I'm flying two weeks today and have about £5000-£6000 but thats with no return ticket, however alot of people go with £2000-£4000 and are fine. My mate did it only last week and he wasn't charged maybe give them a ring and ask them to make sure your account is set to no fees sometimes the account is set wrong I have heard

Yeah you don't want to be stranded at the airport we fly in at 8am I think so we have time to make our way to the city. Yeah you will have to live off pasta until you find a job . I used NAB they seem decent up to now always emailing me back the same day ect.

I booked us both in a hostel for 4 nights and after that I dont have a clue what we will be doing just take everyday as it comes! I'm sure you will be fine going on your own loads of people in the same boat as you. How much you taking with you? I would open an Oz bank account before you go and transfer the money across when the currency rates are high so you get the best deal. That's what I have done anyway. Tom

Decided to buy that Berghaus I linked, I live in a City with no decent hiking/travelling shops so hopefully its a good fit if not il send it back.

Hi Everyone, I was wondering how do you move money over to Australia can you open your Australian account before you move and transfer it before you fly? Also what kind of fees are involved and do you get the standard exchange rate when doing this? Thanks Tom

I would be happy with any job, I would like to avoid cold calling as I dont agree with it. I thinking of doing woofing and helpx anyway as I think it would be cool experience. I will be partying I guess, how much is beer or vodka ect in bars and nightclubs in australia. I'm sure you know but in a supermarket in England you can get 4 bottles for £5 or a 70cl smirnoff for £15. Thanks Tom

Hi everyone, Im heading to Brisbane on a WHV May 5th. There's a good chance I will lose my job a month before I go, any hope I should have $10,000 AUS saved. I wont be going crazy buying adventure packages and I'll be staying in hostels and eating cheap or cooking my own food. I will look for a job inside the 1st 2 weeks I would think. So my main question how long could I last with $10k, personally I'm thinking 3 months but I don't know the true cost of food ect. Thanks Tom

Hi Everyone! I have now booked flights and sorted out my visa I was wondering do most people take travel insurance out even with the medicare agreement . It may end up been pretty expensive maybe £200-300 I have not looked into it that much though. Any Feedback would be welcome! Tom

I did mine on Monday and it was done inside 12 hours, I have had the money taken off me you get a email sent to you telling you have been granted a visa and you get a visa grant number that you need to keep with you. Tom

No its a one way ticket its with emirates though which I have heard are a decent airline as well. With some more research i have found flights for £480ish seems like the seats are running out so may have to book soon then. Tom
