  1. Hi all, Thought I'd highlight my dad's 143 timeline as a rough guide: Application lodged: 16 Jan 2013 Acknowledgment received: 31 March 2013 along with request to send through Form 80, form 47A etc. PCC: 12 Dec 2013 AOS lodged: 3 July 2014 Request for documents email received by our agent: 14 July 2014 (this is not a formal CO allocation, just a reminder to now keep all documents ready) Letter from Centrelink to lodge the bond received: 22 July 2014 (Bond lodged within a couple of days with CBA) Medicals done for both mum and done (mum is non migratory dependent spouse): 30th July (this was done after the ''request for documents'' letter was received because it contained the eMedical HAP ID's) CO allocated: 28th July, requesting for Form 80 for my mum (non-migratory dependent spouse, Form 1221 for both parents & original PCC's for both). We sent all this through within a few days. AOS acceptance letter received: 5 August 2014 At this point everything was done except for my mums PCC which was holding us off. My parents got this processed and sent this through, the Department received this on 04 Sept. Request for 2nd VAC & Pre visa grant received: 11 Sept 2014 Bank cheque prepared, sent and delivered by: 16 Sept 2014 Visa Grant: ........WAITING..... **hopefully soon** We also received the timeline along with the Acknowledgment indicating when we should get what done, however, our agent told us to hold off on getting PCC, Medicals & AOS lodged per the timeline because the CO's are rarely allocated per the 16 month consensus. (which is true cause ours was only allocated in 18 months and 12 days so nearly 19 months). The risk you run of getting your PCC and Meds within 12 months of lodgment (which is what the timeline states) is that when your visa is granted, you have very little time to enter the country. If that's not an issue for someone then it doesn't matter if you follow the timeline strictly. Our CO has been really good so far and very prompt so I'm hoping we receive visa grant soon. I also was quite happy with Centrelink, the entire AOS lodgment from start to finish only took 4 weeks so not bad at all. If only we were told by our agent to get my mum's PCC done too the wait would have been halved from the time the CO was allocated and the 2nd VAC request was received. The timeline says so specifically and we kept asking our agent but he said some CO's require the non-migratory spouse's documents whereas some don't so best to wait. Oh well, you live and learn!
  2. Hey Richard, Yes you're spot on, our agent forwarded us the pre visa grant letter & request for the 2nd VAC yesterday, soooo relieved, it means myfulfilled all criteria!!!! I was going to pay by credit card but then my parents found the 1.8% surcharge pretty ridiculous so I got a bank cheque this morning and going to post it off soon. Plus with the credit card, there's always a risk of the security team within the bank rejecting large requests despite having pre warned the financial institution. So we figured bank cheque was the best bet... Cheers Pri
  3. Hey guys, We are waiting for further progress on my dad's application since the CO was allocated on 28th August 2014. The hold up was due to my mum's PCC who's non migratory spouse, our agent insisted we wouldn't need it but CO asked for originals so had to get all that done. We've finally submitted that last document last week so now fingers crossed waiting for the 2nd VAc request. Does anyone know roughly how long this takes? Also, my dad completed his medicals on August 29th or so, but we are a little skeptical cause we haven't heard anything from the CO since the first batch of documents she requested. Do we assume all is good? Also does anyone know if the CO goes through all paperwork once everything is received or would he/she go through each document as and when it is received? I'm so worried.. Cheers Priya
  4. Hello again, The link states that you have to be in Australia for 2 years before applying for a a RRV which is a ''residence requirement''. However, I'm sure they'll consider other reasons cause there's another Visa subclass 157 too where you can rpove under compelling situations reasons you were out of Australia. If that's not the case then that'll be a relief for many parents such as yourself and mine too who won't be able to satisfy this condition. Good luck and keep the forum updated on your findings. I'm sure it'll be fine, you're not the only one who hasn't stayed ehre for long. Thanks,
  5. Hello there, What Bridgeman & I tried to explain was that the CPV 143 visa and Residency Return Visa are both inter connected in a way for those parents who wish to be in and out of the country, otherwise once the 5 year visa expires, in order to be eligible for the Resident return Visa they need to fulfill the 2 year condition of living in Australia within the 5 year CPV 143 visa grant. I think the purpose of this forum is so everyone expresses their views so when you asked me to ''verify'' what I said, I presented what I thought was appropriate per my kowledge, however, I am not anyone's lawyer, so all I was doing was talking about what I thought was correct applicable to my situation. Not everything on this forum is, or is meant to be 100% factual, people are amateurs presenting information on what they know, all in hope of getting residency quicker. Apologies, if the above link wasn't what you asked for & that the link didn't apply to you, however the point of sending that through wasn't to provide any sort of ''advice'' as everyone's situation is different. Cheers, Priya
  6. Hi, Thanks bridgeman, you explained it much better. In a nutshell in order to be able to apply for a Resident Return visa it is necessary to spend 2 years during the 5 year visa period. Subclass 155 Resident Return visa You might be able to be granted this visa if you: have spent a period totalling two years in the last five years in Australia as either an Australian permanent resident or citizen (the ‘residence requirement’). http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/155-157.aspx cheers
  7. Hi, Yes that's what I've heard re visa grant, you have 12 months from the date of PCC/Medicals whichever is earliest. However, if people follow the timelines per the checklist then those things are completed way before the CO is allocated which in turn leaves very little time for one to enter the country from when the visa is granted. Anyhow, I'm going to ask my migration lawyer to see if he can request an extended date on the visa grant, but I guess I'll only do that once the request for the 2nd VAC is received. Else more $$ down the drain for my dad to visit for a week or so to validate his visa and then go back to attend my wedding.. Also, the 5 year clause means the Permanent Residency visa is a 5 year visa. It means permanent residents carrying that visa must spend atleast 2 years every 5 years in the country (doesn't have to be 2 years in 1 go, but can be made up of several visits). If they dont do that they have to apply for a resident return visa. So the best bet for those parents who are trying to be in and out of the country is to stay 4 years and get their citizenship after which they can stay n or out of Australia as much as they like without any visa issues. Cheers
  8. Hi Barry, Thanks, yes I did the same, just got a call & email from Centrelink this morning saying our AOS has been accepted & we'll get a final approval letter in the mail and that they'll notify the Department too. Does anyone know how much time they give you to enter the country? I hope they give us until early next year because my parents are organising a wedding and it'll be quite hard to come to Australia straight away, worse comes worse my dad will just fly over for a quick week, more expenses ugh but they've got to do what they've got to do!! Anyone from this thread moving to Melbourne? I know of people on this forum who organsied a forum meet up in various cities here and I reckon it's a great idea for newbee parents to meet people of a similar situation having moved to a new country.. Cheers Priya
  9. Hi, Yes exactly my point, Despite the checklist, Immigration themselves have advised against commecning Police checks etc per the time line advised so I'm not sure what the right thing to do is. Our migration lawyer also advised to wait. Anyhow, we've lodged the AOS bond and Medicals have been done. Only thing we are waiting on is PCC original for my mum who's non migratory spouse. Has anyone completed their AOS yet? Can someone advise if afetr lodging the bond with the bank, has the assurer gone in person to Centrelink to hand in the Bank Guarantee or did the Centrelink officer provide an email address to email the documentation through? I was provided an email address so I emailed them, however I'm a bit worried because the letter states to drop it in person, so I'm hoping Centrelink provide me some ackowledgement of the email and send me a letter that AOS has been accepted.
  10. Hi guys, Just thought I'd provide an update - My dad's case officer was allocated on the 28th of July, lodgement date 16th Jan 2013. Such a relief but super busy now sorting out stuff. My mum had to get her medicals done despite she being non migrating spouse so both my mum and dad got their medicals done on the 31st of July. I received a letter to lodge the bond on the 29th of July so that was lodged on the 1st of August with Commonwealth Bank. The case officer requested for Form 80 and 1221 for my mum too so we had to send that through. Other than that all we are waiting for is the original police clearance copy so fingers crossed. Hopefully this helps those who are waiting for a CO to be allocated, the wait is nearly over Cheers Priya
  11. Hi Barry, Good to hear that there hasn't been any issues so far. My parents have theirs tomorrow so fingers crossed. Funnily enough, it's only my dad who's applied for 143, but they have said in the medical letter that this is a combined visa application for my mom and dad both. Having looked at this, we aren't sure if we want my mum to be included as secondary applicant as a dependant either considering she's having to go through the meds, PCC etc despite not applying. Would anyone know if it possible to add on my mom now at this stage 18 months after lodgement date? Anyhow, I shall be updating this column wit any developments so it helps the ones who've applied after 16th Jan 2013, so follow this closely guys! Cheers
  12. Hi Barry, Yes he has logged onto the eMedical site and printed the referral. He answered yes to the diabetes question and provided details that it is mild and controlled and privided details of the prescribed medication he has once a day post breakfast. good to know it wasn't an issue for your wife. I'm assuming she declared this as a ''yes'' on the form too? How did you know she was A graded? Thanks
  13. Hi Steve, lodgement date 16/01/2013. The email received isn't from the CO. It's just a prep email telling us that the CO is about to be allocated soon so we should now forward the documents on to DIMIA. Oh and they sent us a medical letter with HAP IDs. Any tips on medicals guys? My dad is a diabetic but not high, border line and takes pills for it.
  14. Hey all, Our migration lawyer just forwarded us an email from WA Paretns saying that our applicatio is about to be assigned to a CO so to get Medicals done and start forwarding originals of the PCC etc. So yay! anyway, so the weird part is in the medical letter, they've inlcluded my mum as the secondary applicant too and have requested for her medicals too. Even though it's just my dad who's the applicant. Is that weird? Also, with medicals, apparently you have to fill out a form with medical history online etc before going for the examination? How does that work? Thanks, Priya
  15. Thanks Veronique, yes they've been assessing Jan 2013 applications for nearly a month now and my dad's lodgement date is 16th Jan 2013, but we still haven't heard anything. Going to wait till 16th July 2013 and then email them asking the status cause it'll be exactly 18 months then. The wait is soooo frustrating!!
  16. Does anyone know what month applications are CO's assessing for 143 at this stage?
  17. I lodged AOS forms at centerlink today! They said normally we should be contacted for a phone interview in 2 weeks time. All that's left is CO allocation & medicals !
  18. Hi Alan, I have seen how useful your responses have been to a lot of people so thought I'd throw in a quick one. This is for Visa 143 for my dad with Lodgement date 16th January 2013. PCC completed dated 16th December 2013 and is ready to go. I am quite confused because my immigration agent has been telling me to hold off from my father getting Medicals until the CO is appointed. He is also telling me to hold off submitting the AOS forms to Centrelink. His reason being that incase there's issues with Medicals then once we lodge the 10k bond to Centrelink it could get messy to ask for the refund incase there's problems with my dad's medicals. I, however, am in a bit of a rush to submit the AOS forms because I mgiht be quitting my job by 31st August and per the form I should have emlpoyment etc to be Assurer. Can yourself or someone experienced please advise what should be done? Per the letter received from Immigration, if you follow the timeline, we are well overdue lodging the AOS forms, but a few people on this thread have mentioned how there's huge delays in the CO being appointed and hence it's best to wait before getting Meds, AOS done. Even with my dad's medicals, he's 53 and healthy and fit looking except for being diabetic. So not sure if that could be a potential issue? Any help would be appreciated guys!!
  19. Hi Blueray, But your visa was from 173 to 143 correct? Thanks, Priya
  20. Thanks Bridgeman, yes I meant, if the CO requests him re doing Meds/PCC then we'll have to - ugh it's gonna be a long wait until the CO is allocated so fingers crossed.
  21. Yes, our migration agent told us the same as well as someone on this thread rang Immigration and they advised not to follow the checklist because here's a huge time lag between what the checklist advises and when the CO is allocated. It has been just over 17 months since our lodgement date too so everyday is becoming a nightmare waiting. My dad has only gotten the PCC done, we shall get the Medicals and AOS lodged once the CO is allocated.
  22. Hi Barry, I wasn't aware of this condition. I reckon this is exactly why our migration agent advised that we shouldn't get Medicals etc done per the timeline indicated on the checklist because there's a huge delay in the CO being allocated and by the time the CO does get allocated the Medicals or PCC may expire. We followed the checklist and got the PCC for my dad done. This has been ready with an issue date of 27/12/2013. The Medicals haven't been done yet because the migration agent advised us that it only takes 2 days to electronically send through the results to the panel doctors in Australia. So does it mean if all goes well my father has to enter the country by 27/12/14? Because that may not be feasible to wrap things up from their end since they're organising a wedding etc. Or would it mean they'd have to get the PCC done again before entering the country? lets keep this group going guys.. Think this is the only actively running CPV 143 forum so kudos!!
  23. Hi Barry, yes so its been 17 months and 3 days so we are expecting a CO to be allocated any day now. As someone before mentioned, when you call up Immi, despite the letter that states ''get Medicals done 12 months ater, AOS in 12 months etc'' , Immi informs you to hold off on Medicals and AOS until the CO is allocated. It's so confusing with differing views and people.
  24. Still waiting for CO allocation!! Seems like their process has slowed down even more cause it's been exactly 17 months since lodgement date. Does anyone know how long it takes for medical results to reach Immigration? And how long roughly does the AOS take?
