  1. That is disgusting, (but who knows if they are right left or centre):frown:
  2. Hardworking folk are in all sections of our community, and what ever current stats you look at, it is an unfair budget,
  3. Yes no one is a winner but the budget has hit to different degrees sectors of our population, and the people are shouting about this unfairness where most of the lifting is going to be done and comparing. quote Concerns over broken promises and a lack of fairness have been vindicated by an independent analysis of the impact of budget decisions by the Australian National University. It found high income earners can largely escape the so-called "heavy lifting" of fiscal repair, with some well-paid couples worse off by just 0.9 per cent compared to a single parent on payments with a child aged six, who could lose more than 10 per cent of their income. Voters agree, with nearly two thirds calling it unfair - 63 per cent, compared to 33 per cent who marked it ''fair''.
  4. Todays Polls tell a story, I couldn't help but think that when this budget was announced it seemed to be a divide and conquer, In the media letters to the editor was full of baby boomers against Uni students, visa versa, Welfare recipients against the workers etc. It was great to see our states come together on education & health.
  5. Hi Shelleybingo Like you we have done the hard yaks paid the high tax, never a day unemployed, or family allowance here but I would find it hard to except this as the genuine needy are not asking for a hand out, just fairness remembering England in by gone days, the 3 class system, I would hate to see it here by not giving a fair go to lower paid workers, I do not want that history to repeat itself here. I am not a low paid worker but I can totally sympathise with the outcry this has caused. Equal treatment as I said previously and you would not have had the backlash that this budget has created. Thousands of people protesting, look at their placards about education & health think of your grandchildren needing a decent education and good hospitals, the treasurer needs to spread the load, I don't think we would have seen this revolt then. People are not silly they know when they are being treated unfairly, If you take away the initiative what else is there, we all came to Oz for a reason, Please Sir Can I have More LOL
  6. Yes totally agree, they used to call it the lucky country, Can't you arrive in the U.K and make it with a few quid?
  7. Hi Shelleybingobingo You are right they should not do all the heavy lifting, but they should do equal lifting, and this is not happening in this budget. it has been a budget that has hit the lower to middle income earners very hard.
  8. I am not sure if they pay a Medicare levy, private health insurance, gap payments, will have to find out
  9. Yes I understand that, this is after the co - payment the user will pay an extra $7.00
  10. Lets think about it, do we want an American style medical system or an English one! We as a nation have a mixture of folk, haves and have nots, some possibly self inflicted, and others accidents or organ transplants cancers whatever. These folk need our help they need regular Dr appointments. specialist appointments pathology x-rays etc After hearing Joe Hockey this morning on Sunrise admitting that this budget has been unequal and the lifting will be done by the lower to middle income earners, it took a badgering by the journo for him to say that, he also stated that if the heavy lifting was to be done by the highest income earners they would leave the country and go else where. Just perhaps the lower income people do not have this choice! cannon fodder maybe,
  11. My Understanding is the user pays regardless if you use a bulk bill Dr or not.
  12. Yes that what they do, they contract to AP, they tender and if they purchase the run, then they have to put staff on and try to remain profitable. Staff rush around to finish asap so there wage doesn't seem to bad for hours worked.
  13. The Illawarra has been great too, about 24c, sunny & warm.
  14. Hi my quote choice is always good, imagine not being able to have any choice and not being able to act on them. We came to Sydney way back in 1981, left a huge family of parents brothers & sisters, aunts uncles etc. We came with our 2 children aged 8 & 9. first thing I recall stepping out of Kingsford Smith Airport at around 7 am was a huge orange - yellow ball in the sky, loved it. I miss my family & always will, we have holidays their and they come here. We had another child here and now are grandparents. Go with your heart, life sometimes can have regrets, which ever way you go., you may end up being a 3 way pom who knows. My sisters & brother who has visited here over the years, also love Oz, but not everyone is lucky enough to be allowed entry, well that was the case in the early 80s. Good Luck and be content in what ever decision you make.
  15. Hi Andy We are new to Poms in Oz, would you be able to help with our questions. How is the UK state pension assessed by Centrelink, we were once told it was 50c in every dollar, I do not believe that is correct? is it all assessed as income with the income & assets? test applied. We have paid make up payments which qualifies us for 25 years currently, I am not sure now if that was such a good idea, paying make up payments and possibly loosing a Centrelink benefit. I would like to understand how it is assessed in Oz. Kind regards Dave & Sue
  16. Hi We came from Wolves over 30 years ago. Live NSW:)
