  2. hey people im a 21 year old man who, at the end of the educational year (september "14) will have a HND qualification in fitness, health & exercise. at the moment, how is australia looking for gym facilities etc and is there any chance of me, when i arrive, of finding any part time or full time work, working in a gym or anything like this? if there was a possibility of any full time employment then this would be amazing for me because hopefully i can get out of the UK and move to oz and change my very boring life to one i would more enjoy would love some help and advice
  3. thanks folks. iv signed up for the YHA. a couple of the ones in victoria that iv looked at are of a good price range and they look brilliant! obviously it would be a short stay kinda thing so it looks brilliant
  4. hi all. just wondering what the best option would be for when i head to australia at the end of the year. iv had a look around. hostels are pretty cheap but so are roomshares. A lot of the room shares are about $600 a month. is this a good price to pay or should i be looking for hostels for my first month in australia? also, what good websites are available for me to use for looking at roomshares? thanks folks

  11. hi all. just a quick question. when i apply for my WHV, do i have to start using it as soon as im granted it or can i apply for it now and start using it when i go to australia? because im looking to go over at the end of this year/start of next and im not sure whether or not i can apply for it now? any help will be appreciated
  12. you've really opened up my eyes about what i want to do now! its easy to talk about going to australia for a year on a WHV but it takes a whole lot more to actually do it, and thats what im definitely doing now i've read this post!!! thanks a lot
  13. hello everyone im a 21 year old man who is looking at heading to australia at the end of this year/start of next and i was just wondering how easy or hard it is to find part time work? obviously its like everything else meaning you have to go out and find it for yourself and ask around, but on the otherhand, iv heard a few people tell me that because the recession hasn't hit australia as hard as its hit the UK, it should be easier to find some part time work. with me applying to get my WHV, il be looking at getting a job on a farm doing some fruit/veg picking for the duration of 3 months to extend me visa from 12 to 24 months. is it easy to find a job on a farm over there? is it worth having a look on different sites that advertise such jobs before i go? how easy/hard is it to get a job? because obviously il need to make some sort of income during my stay
  14. hows it going dave im exactly the same as you. im only 21 and im looking to go solo as well. im thinking of going over in october of this year, but only if i have the funds to support me for this first few months until i find a job. if not, then il be looking at feb/march time, just to give me some more time to get more funds together. iv heard a lot too from my friends and family. iv had a lot of feedback from friends that have done it before and they say its the best thing you can ever do!! so go ahead!! it will change your life im looking forward to it myself! and plus, a lot of people have told me that when you do it for the first year, you wont want to come back! good luck dave!
  15. thanks people i appreciate it very much. iv got a few websites that offer deals on in-class courses to get the RSA certificate for VIC. these need to be booked when im there so il keep everything in mind
  16. thanks very much folks. this will help me hugely some great advice from all. "shakergaz", if you dont mind me asking, how did you go about getting a job on the farm etc? was there information on websites and stuff like that?
  17. thanks. il read up on this. thank you
  18. yeah i seen it thank you bell123321. il have a more in depth look into the information on that website. i think its best if i just head to melbourne and book a spot at one of the courses. the thing is, i dont know yet if im going to be staying in melbourne for the 12 month duration so i dont know if i should go ahead with that 1 first. ive got ideas in my head of where i want to go, Sydney being one of them, so il have a think about what area of Oz i want to get my RSA certificate for. Thanks a lot for this help. Appreciate it
  19. hi all i was just wondering if anyone could sort me out with a list of things i need that allows me to enter australia without any hassle, for example, what insurance i need, banking documents etc because im 21 at the moment and im planning on leaving the UK at the end of this year and heading to melbourne for 12 months on a working holiday visa is there anyone out there that can make my planning a lot less stressful much appreciated, thanks in advance
  20. Hi all  I've just researched about getting an RSA certificate (responsible service of alcohol) for Victoria for when i want to apply for bar work when im in Melbourne. (apparently you need one) I noticed that on some sites it says something along the lines of they dont do online courses and they only do in-class training. Does anyone have any idea what this is about and what i can do or how i go about getting an RSA certificate for Victoria because this is where im planning on going when i leave the UK at the end of this year. Thank you
  21. thank you bell123321. iv just had a look at the RSA courses online (RSA VIC online) and it says they only accept in class RSA training. this was stated on http://www.onlinersa.com.au/ can you tell me what this means??, because im looking at going to melbourne for the start of my 12 months
  22. Thanks so much "Fordy87" and "bell123321". i will take all of this information into account when i head over is there festivals on all the time in melbourne or is it just a specific time every year it happens? (Fordy87). "bell123321", how much money would you recommend i take? i've read the details about the WHV and it states i should have a minimum of $5000 in my account? do they even check this and would this be enough to keep me going until i find a part time job? also, how hard is it to find part time work, even when festivals and stuff like that aren't on? i have 4 year experience working in a bar so im thinking that would be the main route id head down
  23. hi there iv always been curious about what kind of things to do when im in melbourne, when iv been granted a working holiday visa. obviously the main reason i want to go to australia is to travel around a bit, find a part time job, and ofcourse get a job working on a farm to add another year to my visa. im just worried about how to go about spending each day and the sort of stuff to do every day that can somehow keep my expenditure to a minimum. if anyone can help me i'd really much appreciate it
  24. thanks very much everyone for your advice. will take all of it on board
