  1. Very poignant, but remember why you are completing this move...... You are giving yourselves and especially children such a great opportunity. Technology gives you access now like never before to retain contact, although not personal seeing faces on Skype/ Facetime etc will give you a boost. My wife's brother moved around 7/8 years ago so we have been through the process once. I know my wife will still find it emotional when we leave in October we know we are heading for a fabulous new start. I know my boys will miss aspects of their lives in the UK but again there will be so much to occupy them and ourselves/yourselves you will have adapted and adjusted without too much looking over your shoulder! I'm sure you will all have great new lives...............and just think there will be enough alcohol available on a long haul flight to dull the sadness!
  2. We have just received our grant after lodging on the 26 June. It seems like it's a couple of months wait, were only allocated a case officer a couple of weeks ago. that said they have been banging out 189's just lately. When we lodged ours they had a back log so hopefully you won't have to wait too long! Good luck..
  3. Hey guys, after receiving our 189 grant on Friday the manic sorting had begun! I have a question for the tradies among us. We a looking at a leaving date of the 27th October, but our household items will have left a couple of weeks previous. Does anyone know if there are restrictions or special conditions for taking hand tools as luggage. There is going to be a fair gap between arriving and the landing of all our gear. I'm a plumber so there is only going to be a couple of pairs of Stillsons, shifters, pipe cutters etc, just enough to get me going on site rather than buying loads of new stuff and looking like the new 'pommie apprentice'! i'm aware there will be weight restrictions but we should have extra luggage allowance through Emirates/ANZ. As much as I'd love a two month holiday in Brisbane the money needs to start coming in! Any advice welcome. Richy
  4. We finally received the grant notification e-mail this morning. Sooooo massively excited & relieved!!!
  5. Thanks for your reply LisatoOz. My husband e-mailed all the documents last night, as we didn't know what else to do! I feel reassured reading your reply, so many thanks. Now we just wait again.....
  6. Congratulations to everyone who got grants today, they seem to be flying out now! We lodged on 26th June and were allocated a CO last week. They have requested more evidence on my husband's employment history - bank statements, wage slips etc. The trouble is, my husband has had so many plumbing jobs in the last 8 years, due to firms going under, that we had a lot of evidence to submit. Now our Immi account won't let us upload any more, and says 'maximum number of files reached'. My husband has e-mailed the case officer (Adelaide team 8), but as yet has had no response. I've seen other threads on this site where people have had no response for 2 weeks, and I'm starting to panic!! I just wondered if there was anyone who'd been in a similar position, or knew of another way of getting the info to the case officer. We don't have a telephone number, but are thinking of just uploading all the documents in an e-mail, but are worried they won't accept this. Any advice????
  7. Hi guys, does anyone know how long it should take for the medical information to appear on your immi account? The medical centre we used in Edinburgh sent the details to the immigration dept on the 4th August, is it normally a couple of weeks? Also the listing of information has changed positions slightly......... I think we check too much!! ;-) Rich

  9. We have looked at the page over the last 6 weeks or so and it still says March :-(. Some threads I've read say that people have received a 'direct grant', any idea what this is? I know that the processing time is longer as we are group 4 priority. Have you completed your meds and police checks? It's hard trying to balance everything, jobs and house sale etc....
  10. Hi Shelly, We lodged our 189 app on the 26th June after skills assessment and IELTS etc. Police checks are done and dusted as are the medicals, just waiting impatiently! Any news on the progress of your application? Very new to the thread lark, haven't really bothered with the forum side of things. Now everything has been completed it's nice to know other folk have some good information to impart. Any idea how to get all the info at the bottom of the screen, ie dates of sections completed? Rich
