  1. hello confusedozzie337, where in Somerset are you looking to relocate to? We moved to Taunton in Somerset with my Aussie husband,( I'm British) work prospects are ok in terms of finding placements however pay is a lot less than Aus. It's all relative though really as some aspects of UK living can be cheaper. Life is great in the UK, if you are willing and able to make the most of it. I won't lie it is a hard transition coming from Aus but you will settle into it, the weather can be a bit depressing but it is nice having the 4 seasons, and Europe on the doorstep makes it all worthwhile! let me know if you do end up in the Somerset area, would be good to meet up, there is a distinct lack of Aussies in the regional areas of the UK so would be good to get the numbers going! Hope you you can make your decision easily enough.
  2. Ahhhh welcome to Sydney! Where abouts do you want to find a place? And what type of visa are you on? We are living in the UK at the moment doing a European stint until we return to Sydney early next year, I lived in Randwick and then Cremorne thereafter, ( was in Aus for about 3 years) can't wait to get back next year! Anywhere in the lower north shore is a great place to be, particularly Neutral Bay if you love Coffee and a good social life! ( and there is a lovely old theatre cinema in Cremorne for the films when you fancy it!) that's about 10 mins away Would be interested to hear your story, hope you have an exciting time getting settled in! :-)
  3. Where are you moving, are you shipping your house hold belongings and do you have any work lined up?
  4. It's a long shot, but we currently live in Taunton, Somerset UK, is there anyone on this forum who is also moving to Sydney? Would be great to meet up to share the experience with!
  5. Thanks so much for your advice and reassurance! That's great! It's funny how a visa application can make you feel so insecure isn't it!
  6. Hi All, I'm British but have an Australian husband whom I have been with about 4 years, according to the website I can submit a partner visa application and may even be able to get PR straight away as we have been together long enough... I wondered if anyone else has the same scenario and/or whether generally it is worth using an agency to make the application or if it is safe enough to make the application directly? Any other her advice would be great too, on shipping etc. we are heading for the hills district as our family is based there and we are so excited! Just got got to hope work prospects are good and the house prices haven't gone up too much by 2015!
