Thanks for ur reply, we have spoke a lot and He will come back early this year, he will give london a try but I suppose at the moment that's all that we can do, hope for the best. I know in my heart I want to stay in London so I hope he can be persuaded.

    Confused

Hi, I joined this website and have been reading posts as it makes me feel more sane. I moved back to london after less than a year in Perth, I intensely missed London while away, my partner on the other hand is in love with Perth. He got a FIFO job and as I hated my job I decided to come home rather than be really lonely in perth for 4 weeks at a time. Perth was quiet, beautiful but not a great social scene or cultural and had limited options, coming from london I struggled, especially with hating my job, I tried to apprieciate the moment but I think I didn't as much as I should, as I was too busy analysing my life and missing friends and family. So I came home last August, I love being back but my partner is still out there and I'm not sure what to do. I could return and try it again, although my job opportunities are so limited as a children's nurse. I feel really bad making my partner come home and give up his Australian dream, he says he'll come home for me but i feel that's all as he just loves the lifestyle there. I was thinking maybe we could compromise and try Sydney but I know it would be for a few yrs not forever as I see myself growing old around my family and friends. I love my job here but what oz taught me was I should work to live not live to work so I want a good balance which jobs in London don't do, they tend to want ur soul. I'm confused, he plans April as the return month, I'm just scared he will hate being back. Should I reconsider and head back out?
  3. Yeah, I should find out really, I emailed immigration ages ago but to be honest I find them completely useless sometimes.
  4. So my visa will say it's is valid until it's expiry in 2017?! Should I expect to receive a email or confirmation when it is actually ceased.
  5. Thanks Adam, I just left it at the time due yo my partner still bring there but I'll do that as I want my super back.
  6. Look at wa government website for nursing jobs, they will give u salary ideas and roles descriptions and a good idea of where the jobs are available. As a general nurse you have more choices and hopefully u can find work easily but I would decide what visa ur looking at whether it be state sponsored or employer sponsored, different ones work for different people. Salary compared to London is good, I didn't have to work nearly enough nights or weekends just to make up my pay but the hospital I worked at didn't do 12 hour shifts and I found I was at work a lot! And I ended up doing the 1-9 shift a lot which sucked. And working five days a week didn't allow for weekends away and Perth being so isolated u need more than two days to get and enjoy anywhere, just depends on what ur used to job wise back home, as if it is very different it is hard to adjust but if ur committed it is worth a shot, Perth is beautiful.
  7. 90 days, I left my employer in August and they give u 90 days, in fact I emailed immigration to tell them I had left my employer and yet my 457 visa is still valid and it's now 5 months since I left oz.
  8. Hi just to say I never had a joint bank account or anything like that, me and my partner lived with his parents and used letters of both of ours that showed they went to the same address, I also used photos dating back the course of our relationship and got some declarations from family and at the time our current landlord and it was fine, I found it very easy! I just got a justice of the peace to sign them, which he did for free and he even came to my house.
  9. I feel ur other half if passes the ilets should have enough points for the visa, my partner was a plumber with 7 years experience, city and guilds and gas fitter and he got more points than me as a medical professional. My partner didn't even need to do the ilets as he qualified with enough points anyway. Not sure about money via agent as we never used a migration agent. But he will need to do some more courses when he gets to oz which cost in region of couple thousand dollars.
  10. My partner was out of work for ages, as a plumber people made it seem like u can just go over and walk into a job, not the case. Lots of courses and money need to be spent on getting equivalent certs to prove skills, nonetheless once done u can start earning the money back, my partner had to do a job he hated and it was long long hours, eventually he quit due to feeling very low and really focused on getting his trade courses done. In the end he managed to get into mining but it took a year.
  11. Hi jimmy I live in London and I love it, it the best place ever! If you u are travelling to the uk and want to make the most of it I would suggests getting in on a house share in central London, the cost of living otherwise is too high. I live with 9 other people in a big townhouse and it's fine. Croydon is a bit grimy and quite far out of central but easily commutable if u use it as a initial base while u get sorted. London has amazing transports links and things run very late, night bus so forth. Europe is on your doorstep too, u have the beautiful countryside and you can travel up north too, which I'm sure ull find very cheap compare to oz! Scotland is very nice and Ireland for a visit too. I'm sure u can find some work in london most Australian manage it but mainly they end up in bar work.
  12. London/Perth as above people state r completely different worlds, i love london but I don't have a family. Even when people move out of London in England it leaves a massive hole and u get all nostalgic about ur London days! I feel ur pain but just remember the aspects of family life u want and get out of being in Perth. It is a great place for the outdoor lifestyle while kids are young. Happy thoughts
  13. It's easy to let ur mind go into overdrive, especially when ur partner loves the place more than you, my situation also. Australia and uk r both amazing places, 2 yrs isn't a long time but it can bloody feel like it if you don't have the job or makes the friends to enjoy it. If your not starting a family Imminently then try not to worry about that aspect, remember you have family at home so you can go back whenever, as long as u go back knowing you gave it a fair shot. Ur partner should get sponsored by a company then u can go as his defacto, working for someone else first is better, u guys can assess if the place is what u want, no point looking to start a business if ur not sure u love the place plus he'll have to do lots of courses first as oz love u to do a course to get the job! And it will cost. September is not long, enjoy the summer, ur partner can accost sponsorship surely and then always refuse nearer the time if you both wanna go home.
  14. Depends where ur moving, registration takes a little whole depends how quick u are on gathering all the required documentation. I worked in Perth and their big tertiary hospital was like a district general so I wouldn't worry on that front, nurses do less as well, so depending if u think that's good or bad is up to you. The defo are better staffed, job was a lot less stressful but I like stress in my job weirdly ha. Anyway all the info for aphra rego is on the aphra website, just read it it's quite straight forward.
  15. Grammar and spelling errors, I apologise, it's late! Ha
  16. Hi Sammy, I would get your registration first as it takes a while, best to get it done before you go out, as then you are ready to apply for jobs straight away instead of sitting around without work which gets boring. The process is not hard just time consuming and lots of paperwork, but I did it so u defo can, u just need a medical to go with your visa and nursing wise there is no exams just proof of your registration which is transcripts and your dipolma/degree certificate and ur NMC pin, plus u write to the NMC to write to aprha proving your registration. U download the application form of the aphra website and just go through it systematically, getting the stuff done one at a time. It will all come together. The only issue I had was when I got to Perth, aphra took ages as Wa does. But I just went not the offices to prove I was here and hand in something, I can't remember now then u get ur registration. I find as a English nurse often jobs don't actually reply to u if they don't think your in the country or at least have ur oz rego. I left uk without a job and when I got my rego I got a job very quick, Australians like people they know and it's a bit incestrous so best just to rock up with a prior email of course and job dice ur self and say ur looking for a Job worked for me. If ur a adult nurse there be lots of jobs, as a children's nurse it's a bit more limited. Look on the way government website for jobs, that's the best site and u can apply directly from there. But again if ur English and have no rheo or visa they prob won't even look at ur application yet . Best of luck
  17. Hi Polly, I feel your pain. I moved to WA for 10 months and returned to the uk, my time there I felt very pressured because my partner loves it but I just felt such a pang for my family, friends and lifestyle that I really didn't think I would miss. I always had a fab life in London and moving away actually made me realize how fortunate I was to live here. I think whatever u decision u make as long as u feel u won't have any regrets, having a family makes it much harder I know and ur decision affects not only yourself, but really despite Australia's amazing sunshine, being back home I don't feel like I'm missing much. Yes WA is beautiful and serene but for me I thought it was more of a holiday destination, I got bored very quickly, England has culture, diversity and a lot more going on. There are lovely places In England to bring kids up, and even if your a hours from family no where feels as far since ive been back from oz. Children can be immerse in a multicultural society with lots of museums, galleries, fetes, fairs. Personally I missed the theatre and the amount of options of things I could do, any given night here In london I can choose something different to do and it's not all that expensive if I don't want it to be. It's winter and I still go out for runs along the Thames and walks, kids don't care so much if it's raining! Anyway i hope u make a decision with your family and you all feel it's is right for you, for me there is no price on family and friends, I can't justify sacrificing my relationships with them for a beach but each to their own.
