  1. Thanks I had a brief look but there was so much info I got a bit confused!
  2. Hi Hope someone can help. Am I right in thinking that a DipHE in Adult Nursing will now need to be topped up to a Bsc for the purpose of registration with APHRA? What if you have a positive skills assessment with ANMAC with a DipHE does this still mean you need to have a Bsc for APHRAreg? If this is the case whats the point in having ANMAC undertake skills assesment if you wont be able to register with APHRA? I had started the process of applying for a visa but will need to rethink if this is the case as cannot financially afford to top up to degree. Thanks for help in advance. Kirsty
  3. Hi, Thanks for this, I went on the website for ACPO and found the following: Where a recordable offence is dealt with by the way of a Penalty Notice for Disorder (PND), that event can be recorded on PNC but will not be regarded as a criminal conviction. So it appears that it will show up, I guess its whether this will be a problem for immigration purposes. This is something we could really do without, I appreciate it is rather minor compared to other offences however it is still possession of a class B drug and was recent that this will go against us.
  4. Hi everyone, I have just discovered that in November last year my other half received a fixed penalty notice for possession of a class b drug. I am extremely concerned that this will show up on a police check and if it does that it may affect our chances of iemigrating. I've started the long process of skills assessment and obviously don't want to pay any more money or time/effort if this will stop our chances of living there. Upset is an understatemwnt. Does anyone have any advixe
  5. Thanks lets hope it stays that way!!!!!!! I haven't managed to sit my IELTS yet Im so worried about it all, im so desperate to get out there xxx Do you think its worth applying for APHRA once I have(eventually) sent all my stuff to ANMAC. xx
  6. Im not sure that is correct as when I look on the aus immi site it states this:( I agree however a diploma is most certainly not a degree however as stated on the immi site it appears it is comparable NOT equivalent) Bachelor Degree To receive 15 points for having at least a Bachelor degree, you must have met the requirements for an award of Bachelor degree by an Australian educational institution or your qualification must be considered as at least comparable to a Bachelor level at Australian standards. For example a Diploma in Nursing completed in the United Kingdom is generally considered by the relevant assessing authority as comparable to an Australian Bachelor degree.
  7. Hi, I feel sick to my stomach! I am really worried, I have only just started the process of getting my skills assessed by ANMAC and I was reading on APHRA website the following information: In February 2014, the National Board and AHPRA implemented a new model to support the nationally consistent assessment of the qualifications of internationally qualified nurses and midwives. The assessment decides whether an international applicant has a qualification that matches the standard of (in the National Law this is called ‘substantially equivalent to’) a current graduate of a Board-approved program of study. http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov...pplicants.aspx I have a DipHe in Adult Nursing now as far as I was aware they assessed the diploma as an equivalent to the qualification needed to register as an RN in Australia, which would attract 15 points on a visa. Is this going to change now? Does anyone know if this will change my entitlement to work as a registered nurse in Australia? I don't want to spend lots of money and stress going through the process of trying to get skills assessment etc if in the end I left with heartache knowing that my qualification will not entitle me to work as an RN in Australia. Thanks in advance for anyone's guidance
  8. Hi, I am just completing a form to allow my ielts results to be forwarded onto ANMAC, I didn't request them to be sent in my original ielts application hence why I am completing the form now. Does anyone know what address I need to send it to? I can only find a PO Box address..... Thanks in advance kirsty
  9. My dad had a criminal history which involved burglary and fraud along with car theft and driving with no insurance. He committed these crimes 15 years previous to his visa application. His visa was granted even with his history he did have to write a letter and explain himself. The crimes he committed were when he was at a 'rebellious' stage of his life and happened some time before his thoughts of immigration he explained this in a letter. Unfortunately he didn't move out there in the end but that wasn't anything to do with his past!! Good luck with it xx
  10. Ok and we are looking at perth in WA! xx
  11. Ah ok I think I have that but will double check. Just looked at practice academic reading its really hard!!!! What area of nursing do you work in? I work in a prison. Did you say your reference is completed? The sister is finding it tricky to write! What address did you put for where you want the ielts sent to? They have sent me a form as didn't include it with original application asking for the name and department and address, but can only find PO box address? xx
  12. So does the transcript need to show my placements etc? Mine show each module and the details of each module etc not where I did my placements. It shows how many practical and theory hours and credits for each module. Such hard work all this!!LOL. So the uni can send the transcript direct to anmac? Can that be done before I submit my online application do you reckon? Sorry for all the questions! Where do u intend to move to in Oz? xx
  13. Thanks for all this!!! I dont have my graduation certficate yet as my ceremony isnt until July a year after I qualified!! I luckily have two orginals of my transcript of training so will need to send that to ANMAC. My supervisor at the prison is going to complete my reference today for me. My exam is at Guidlford University the last slot went so not doing it until 21st June now. But gives me plenty of time to prepare. I am really nervous about it particularly the speaking part, I am not great at things like that! EEEK! Gosh £180 an hour thats madness!! I havent even looked into it yet but I bet its going to cost me a bomb. Ive booked some extra shifts at work to try and help fund this whole process! I have got all my fingers and toes crossed for you! where is your test booked? xx
  14. Ah thats a shame and by such a small margin!! Thanks for the link! Thats great. Ive just realised when I booked my ielts I did not request for the results to be sent to ANMAC! Hopefully will be able to ring them tomorrow and ask if they will do it. Maybe their might be a cancellation for you and you can get in sooner. Fingers crossed! What documents did you submit for ANMAC assessment? I can find docs for modified assessment but not for the full skills assessment. Did you have to get everything certified? Such a long and complicated process! I am trying to get all docs together now so I am ready to submit it all when the time comes. I have requested verification from NMC. Kirsty xx
  15. Hi, Just starting the ANMAC skills assessment process. I am just about to ask my supervisor (nursing sister) to complete my professional reference and ANMAC state she will need to make reference to ANZSCO code- Just wondering which one! Prison nursing is similar to practice nursing but we are also an acute unit at times. Do you think i should go under the Registered Nurse NEC code? Any help would be much appreciated. I have tried to find out for myself but getting nowhere! Thanks Kirsty
  16. Hey there! I havent done it yet but thinking of booking it. There is a space in 2 weeks time, just wondering if that will give me enough time to practice! From what Ive read it seems hard so im worried. Have you done anma skills assessment yet? Good luck xxxx
  17. Sorry I'm very jet lagged with a poorly 3 year old. Sorry I wasn't clear. Your sdvice has been great thsaank you x
  18. Ok I'm basing this on the hope that as a registered nurse I will get a upositive skills assessment. My husband to be is a pipefitter but we cannot appear to identify him a suitable nominated occupation that meets his trade therefore cannotorganise for him to claim points for partner skills on a 189 we can't go for 190 as I am only a year qualified and the state need me to have mote experience. At the moment if I applied for 189 Iwould need to get 20 points for ielts to make up the points to 60. As I don't have experience and my partner will not have a positive skills assessment. Sorry I'm using a phone so excuse the poor ptronounciation. And spelling. I don't think I will be able to get 20 points for ielts hence why I though a 489.might be more suitable but if you're saying that's not feasible then I have no idea what to do
  19. Hi, I was looking at australian immi site re the 189 PR visa. If my partner does not get a positive skills assessment then we will only have 55 points instead of the 60 we need, so I was looking at alternatives... I have two aunts whom are australian citizens in WA and they told me that they would sponsor me and my family, now from what I can see the 489 provisional visa with my aunt's sponsorship would give us over the 60 points as we would be awarded 10 points for their sponsorship. Does anyone have much experience with this visa? Obviously I would prefer PR but not sure that it is going to be an option straight away, I also read there is a possibility of applying for PR visa after two years on a 489. I have a three year old and I guess my biggest concern would be his education. Will this visa require me to pay international fees for his schooling? Sorry this is a complete minefield!! Kirsty xxx
  20. Fantastic thats brilliant thank you. Kirsty x
  21. Hi, Just wondered I am starting the long process of applying for a 189 visa. I want to start with my skills assessment but would/need to do IELTS first as I need more points. I am a registered nurse with 1 years experience mainly in a prison setting.. I read somewhere I could do General or Academic but I read somewhere on the ANMAC website I need the academic IELTS, could anyone clarify? Thanks for help in advance. Thanks Kirsty
  22. Hi After spending some time in oz,my husband and I have decided to apply for PR visa 189 however we are trying to determine if I should be the main visa applicant or whether he should. The reason being is that I am a nurse wonly ayear's experience however my husband is a an nvq3 and gas safe quailifieid industrial pipefitter with ten years experience therefore he would, ofi hos skills were assessed as being on SOL, gain more points due to his experience. My questions are: Does anyone have any clue what the equivalent might be? Our thoughts were either fitter general or gasfitter. If this could be the equivalent who assesses his skills is it TRa or VeTassess? I've been told and seen different things Thanks in advance. Kirsty xz
