  1. Was your 70 points including the 5 points from State Nomination? If so, you would still have 65 points to apply for a 189 (rather than the 190). I believe the processing time for 189 is pretty much the same as the 190 nowadays.. https://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/8.0.htm Cheers Eddie
  2. That's great news, Congrats. Just the waiting game for a Case Office, and then the Visa grant.
  3. Yeah, I created my EOI first and then applied of VIC SS. I then received an email stating that I had secured nomination from Victoria, and the very next day I received my email from IMMI asking me to formally apply for our Residential Visa. Cheers Eddie
  4. Hi Gez, We're looking at moving to South Melbourne. We've got family in that area. What about yourself? Hopefully your wait won't be too long for your skills assessment. Ours was done pretty quick at the time. Much quicker than I expected. Cheers Eddie
  5. Hi GezMag, I feel your fear. I'm a Software Engineer of 15 years experience, and have a similar trepidation about trying to kick start my career in Oz. I'm married with two young kids too. (Little boy of 3 and Girl of 8). But if it means a better way of life for my too young ones, its a chance worth taking. Cheers Eddie
  6. Hi Everybody, Newcomer to the forum, so this is my first post. Just been granted State Nomination for Victoria, and I have started my Visa Application. Just looking to get an idea of the current IT Job Market in the Melbourne area. I am a Senior Developer/Solutions Architect with approximately 15 years of experience of the full SDLC. Primarily in the Financial Services Industry. My key areas over the last 5-10 years has been in C#,C++,ASP.NET, Entity Framework, WCF, SQL Server 2005/2008. Can also do Front End Web using HTML and CSS. Is there a demand for these in the Melbourne (or surrounding areas)? How long on average is it taking folk to find a job (contract or full time). Thanks in advance. Eddie
