Not sure if immigration officers sell TV's..have to check out the sales!! I used the word 'me' in the post, meaning I always had good sound advice from them, which incidentally was a godsend as it corrected the very poor advice I received after paying 2.5k to a well known legal/immigration specialist! It prompted a ' unofficial correspondence' email from my CO suggesting I look very closely at the service I had been receiving.... Look...life is, you pay your money, you make your choice (TV's again...no) service!. I always made an appointment and the guys looked at the specifics of my case and how my query related to it. I didn't ever feel, worry that the information was going to be incorrect. I trust you would be one of the 000000.2 percent of the population who would follow the advice to wash a tv in 'warm soapy water' ...ooops

Mine didn't but certainly follow Quinkla's advice! make sure you understand all of the visa conditions you have!..don't break any through ignorance...don't think DIAC would buy that excuse!..Again...Local immigration office always gave me good sound information regarding MY individual case!

I'm probably no help here at all! but when I received my Visa A I was advised it was an extension of my current visa including the conditions which had a no work clause. I was advised to apply to have the clause lifted which I did. Unfortunately I (not everyone!) was refused on the grounds that my wife's earnings were sufficient. If worried...and horses mouth take a trip to your local immigration office and ask them to check!

He asked (if he ever travelled to oz again!) A warrant would have been raised by now, so paying the fine won't pardon him....Just part of the thread i noticed.

I'm absolutely no expert, but had a complex application! Firstly remember you have plenty of time, and once you get to the one on one stage with a CO they will work with you! Mine was fantastic!. Have you booked tickets on the same flight? Have you passport entry stamps which match? Have you been through your individual bank statements for items which could put you in the same place at the same time?....Humans are generally creatures of habit and leave traces!!! Has your partner ever paid for something for you on the internet or vice versa? (I pay my wife's phone bill sometimes and vice versa) My card/ her name. gym memberships? if so and you attend together ask for a print out. Sit together and think of anything you have done together which was registered in any way! above all...don't panic!! My visa is 801..which are you going for? keep posting folk will help!

Before you set foot on australian soil you will need to complete a landing card...asking if you have committed any offences. If they discover you have, they could just turn you around...dunno...your call!

From memory....?? if your sending original documents (bills and statements (bank etc) these do not need to be sighted and JP declared. Mainly things like birth/marriage/divorce etc certs need to be sighted and declared. I took mine into a lawyers office in Brisbane and they did it for free!! We sent in tons of stuff...If we had it we sent it. Photo's (if others were in the photo we wrote (after getting permission!!) email contacts on the back. Pretty much anything...It all helps! Bills were a problem as my wife paid these via her business so all ALL our bills were in her name....towards the end we worried over them and the answer was very simple!! My PV CO accepted a stat dec from my wife declaring I paid 50% of the statement! Good luck! and don't panic...CO are human!

If anyone ever wondered about the outcome of this....? My friend now has a printing business in Coffs Harbour and is doing very well. He (we) own the company and employ his wife on a 457 visa and she sponsors him. What happens after...anyones guess!

Thanks Alan, and thanks for your concern. I'll pass on the advice (politely) I appreciate your input, but find a little short in explanation. If someone is wrong, and you have information to suggest they may be being misled by what they are reading, it's sometimes best to say what is wrong with the path they are on, not, just that it's wrong. I haven't been pulling random nuggets of internet information, but using the government advice sources. Which appear to be wrong?...confused. My friend has sought professional advice, and was advised to follow this route.

Alan. I don't recall saying it was impossible to be an approved business. I said the criteria had widened for a business that could help. Meaning as you have stated, already had approval. However business is wide. I may be mistaken regarding the need to employ locally first, but if you could put an explanation to your statement it would helpful and not sound so condescending...but thanks for your interest in this thread.
