Hey JenPen so glad other people are in the same boat!! haha Really thought the hard bit would be to get through this degree with my partner living over the otherside of the world....but it looks like actually getting a job straight from qualified will be tougher! I think i will do the same as you and just get visa and go out to live in oz and see what i can do about job! Trying not to stress too much about it as have exams coming up end of feb!! Are you doing emergency scenarios at the mo? Hey Teal, dont feel nervous about the midwifery degree... i found the 2nd year of study the hardest, but u get through it! Time goes so quick and u will be in your final year before you know it! I will hopefully let u know that its easier than we thought getting a job in oz when im out there once i qualify!! fingers crossed anyway! Where are you student midwives training? x

Hey Bailey im also qualifying as a midwife in September this year I am moving to the Gold Coast in Sept as my partner already lives out and set up with buisness and house. I am starting to worry that i wont be able to get a job as newly qualified, as it seems from other posts and what i have heard that hospitals like uk midwives to have experience in the UK. Im really hoping this isnt the case as have already done 2 years of working for my degree here and flying to oz to see my loved one when i can...i just want to live and work there now! Im flying over to gold coast in Feb so i will go in and hopefully speak to someone in the maternity hospital about our queries! I will let you know the outcome! I looked into a graduate program at a private hospital but was told to just apply when im qualified plus they have a lot of oz students wanting the graduate program too! I dont know much about AHPRA... but have literally just filled out an application for visa eligibility and am eligible for 3 different visas... just waiting on a call in the next 48 hours for more help with visas! Sorry for the long reply... so happy to find people in the same boat as me! xx

Hello... i am currently in my last year of my midwifery degree and will be moving to broadbeach gold coast this time next year! Is it possible to get a midwifery job straight from qualifying OR do they prefer people who have 1 or 2 years experience in the uk? Im really hoping to get a job straight away as my other half is already set up with house and business in oz, i just need to get this degree! Are any of you lovely people on poms working at the gold coast maternity? Steph

Hey Sharon thank u for your reply, gold coast hospital would be perfect as i will be living in Broadbeach. Im hopefully flying out to oz again in oct, would you know who i could contact about having a look around or meeting who is in charge of jobs there? Did you work in the UK before going to oz?

Im a student midwife currently starting my last year of studies in the UK.... moving to oz once qualified so hopefully this time next year. My partner lives in the Gold Coast already so will be moving there. I was thinking about applying for private hospital jobs, but since reading info on here ive decided against it!!!! If anyone has any info about what the gold coast, logan or brisbane maternity hospitals are like i would love to hear about it. Also if anyone knows if these hospitals need more midwives?! Any info about moving to oz, which visa to apply for or midwifery in public hospitals that would be great!
