    ANMAC application

I submitted my ANMAC info 4 weeks ago now, the website states can take up to 7-8 due to COVID and WFH. I've logged into my account today and it just says 'Documents Received, nothing else. Do they update this as they go? Has anyone submitted their ANMAC info recently and received their positive skills assessment so I have an idea on the timeline please? I'm a Midwife currently on the PMSOL list so keen to get this process moving!!!
  2. Hi, I'm a 25 year old Midwife in the UK. Have been qualified 4 years and have done maternity care in hospital and community settings, CoC and now have a Specialist Midwife Band 7 post My partner is 28, qualified Chartered accountant (ACA). Does anyone know of an excellent immigration advisor to liaise with? Just wondering whether we should go on my visa, and whether it should be an 891 or a working holiday? My job is easy to change after 6 months but accountacy not so much.. any advice appreciated, thanks!
  3. So submitted an EOI 2 days ago and qld have offered us an invitation to apply for state sponsorship...was not expecting that! Now I know there is still a huge amount of hurdles to go over but wanted to ask ...my English test runs out mid march..if I get an invitation from skillselect before then but I lodge application a week after let's say will it be valid or would I need to repeat?
  4. Hi all, Just thought I'd let you all know that from the 3rd of Feb 2020, there is a new pathway for internationally qualified nurses and midwives to get registration. The old route was through filling AGOS-40 and sending notarised copies of the relevant documents. This form is no longer available, and it appears that the process will be electronic (Self-Check), however there is now a two-stage exam (MCQ, then OSCE) that some may have to undertake if it is deemed that their qualifications and experience are not commensurate to that of an Australian qualified nurse. Furthermore, as part of the registration process, all nurses and midwives will have to complete an orientation program. If you printed and filled in your AGOS-40 before Feb 3rd, and submit it before Feb on or before Feb 21st, 2020, it will still be accepted. See the AHPRA website for more details. https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-and-Endorsement/International/Applying-for-registration.aspx

    Just saying hello!

Hello! I have just joined your lovely forum and have had a good look around. I have dreamt about making the move to Oz for at least a decade! And I've finally managed to convince the hubby that it is a good idea!! (I hope I'm not wrong ) We are just starting our in-depth research now so I know we are a while away from the big move. We are thinking of relocating to Perth, however this would be dependant on the availability of jobs for us both. We also have 4 children (ages 6, 8, 11 and 13) so at least 2 of them will be teens when we move. Has anyone else successfully made the move with teens? Any tips on making the process easier for them? I know it can take a while before you are in invited to apply for your visa after submitting your EOI so would you recommend submitting asap just in case? My concern is that it all happens to quickly and we won't have time to complete our research - I know this is unlikely, but I'm just being cautious! Perhaps it would be better to wait until we've done all our research before submitting the EOI? Thank you for your time and I look forward to reading your replies

    Worried about AHPRA

hi all, just going through the ahpra application with my wife and see a section about impairment, my wife had an injury meaning she currently cant work on labour ward, but has no issues working on antenatal wards, and the hospital she works at are happy with this, are ahpra likely to decline her application? would it be worth calling them? Cheers

    ANMAC Question

Quick question, am I right in thinking once IELTS is passed and a suitable score obtained nurses/midwives etc have to then apply to ANMAC and once the skills assessment is approved then and only then can they apply for a skilled visa? once the visa comes through then AHPRA should be applied to due to the new rules?
  8. Hi, looking for some general advice please. I'm a qualified midwife with ten yrs experience hoping to move to Melbourne in January with my family. Can anyone recommend which hospitals are the good ones in Melbourne for midwives? What salary could I expect, and lastly, which areas are the most suitable for raising a young family within commuting distance to the hospitals. Not asking for much then  If anyone can offer any advice that would be great xxx
  9. Hi Guys, I am currently a third year student midwife, I will qualify in September this year  I am wanting to move to preferably NSW area and begin work as a newly qualified midwife. I am completely lost as to where to start. There seems to be a lot of conflicting advice about what to do and how to do it. Was wondering if others have/had this experience and could perhaps shed a bit of light on the situation. I have researched that i could potentially undertake a Graduate Midwifery Programme (which a I understand is similar to our preceptorship) Whilst a few hospitals do not even require this. I have been trying to look for jobs or even just contact numbers for further info from employers but this is proving difficult and I am unsure as to whether an agency would be useful or not. Am I right in thinking that I will have to wait for my UK pin from the NMC before I can apply for registration from AHPRA?? And why is the IELTS exam necessary?? Sorry for the 20 questions. Any help would be massively appreciated. Thanks Bailey xx
  10. Hello. I am looking for some advise please as I have heard on here via an agent that hospitals in Perth prefer you to have Nursing as well as Midwifery. I am starting my training in the UK to become a Midwife but am now unsure as to do the Nursing first then the Midwifery add on. I really want to be a Midwife not a Nurse but will obviously do it, if it is a requirement and guarantees me a job in Perth. Any advise or links to threads regarding this would be greatly appreciated as I can't find them. Thank You in advance Vikkey xx

    Subclass 189 ens

Hi I'm a midwife looking at emigrating to Oz in the next year. I've been looking at visa types. Ideally the 189 skilled independent would have been the best way forward. However with 3 years midwifery experience I score 55 points, 5 below the expected level of 60 to attain this visa. On the flip side, I could gain the additional points by scoring superior of the IELT test but I have heard this is very difficult. My options are therefore, the subclass 457 temporary with the option of applying for PR at a later date or the subclass 186 ENS which offers PR from the outset. Although the 457 seems appealing (quick processing time, cheaper on application and potential to apply for PR after period of time under the 186 temporary transition stream) I'm concerned about it's stability. I'm taking my family and worry that for whatever reason I could lose my job and be left searching for a new employer. If I haven't found a new sponser under the 457 within 28 days, it would mean leaving the country. The ENS 186 would definitely offer us more security and option of living anywhere in Oz with the benefits of free state healthcare and education for our children. Can anyone advise on ease of finding employment under the ENS 186 visa? Also I'm curious of processing times for this visa? Interested to hear from anyone who has gone to Oz on the 457 and encountered my concerns above. would appreciate some comments please. Many thanks:confused:

  13. Hello everyone. I am trying to get my head around the visa points list. I will be a qualified midwife when myself and my family apply for a visa, (still researching which one is best to go on) Could someone just clarify the following for me please: 1. Do I get awarded points for my degree with me qualifying in the UK? 2. As I was looking last year at the subclass 175 visa it stated you needed to be in your profession for 1 year to apply but on both the new visa's it say's 3 years for 5 points. Does that mean that is the minimum you now need to work or you can work less than that to apply but you get awarded 0 points?? If anyone could help with these questions I would be most grateful. Thank You Vikkey x

I am now packing up to head for Orange maternity hospital, NSW, does anyone work/live in Orange that want to befriend me???? We will hopefully be there on 1 May!!!!

    Aphra help!!

Hi All!! Please can someone help!! :arghh: -APHRA received my application for registration on the 13th of December 2011. -I sent them an email on 28th Feb stating had a job offer and wondered how application was going - received email from them saying has been escalated for processing as have a job which I need to start on 1st May. -Sent them another one on 13th march asking again how application was going as heard nothing -Funnily enough I had a reply back straight away saying that i am missing some documentation: "Certified evidence of your nursing qualification. Transcript of Training must display clinical and theoretical hours-Theory subjects should include: Anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and Cultural issues.-Clinical hours should include: Labour, community health, post natal, antenatal and gynaecology I sent all this originally when I 1st sent my application to them but the course manual doesnt state which clinical hours are in which area, and the modules do not specify Pharmacology or Anatomy. Does anyone have suggesting as to what I should do next. I qualified as a direct entry midwife 10 years ago, and my course leader has retired!! Thanks again Sian :arghh:

    APHRA & 457, help!

Have got a job as a midwife in Perth and they are sponsoring me on a 457 visa, have filled my visa application online and have evrything ready to upload except my confirmation of registration from the APHRA (which I'm still waiting for). This may seem like a daft question but do I have to upload the APHRA confirmation or can I just put my NMC proof of registration on, its the only thing holding my application up! Sorry if its been asked before. Kirstie

  21. Hi All, I am a single 21yr old female and I have very recently qualified as a midwife, I have always wanted to move to Australia and am thinking now may be the best time due to the lack of available jobs here in the UK. I was told you need experience before being able to move to Australia as a midwife, but know of somebody who is thinking of moving after having a job offer as a newly qualified midwife and wondered if this was possible? I'm not really sure of what area would be best for me, I do come from a busy city but would like to live somewhere with a happy medium both a busy-ish city life but also somewhere being a little more relaxed. I have only just began looking into this so have lots of questions but any help as to where to begin the process would be great Many thanks Michala

    Nurse Midwife timelines!

Is there any midwives or nurses what have applied on the 175 visa? What was your processing times and how long did it take to get a case officer? Please advise as I was once told these occupations get fast tracked but im now a bit concerned that this is not the case!
  25. Finally felt like I was getting some where last week. I've been researching for about a million years now and finally settled on Brisbane as an area to relocate. Sent an expression of interest to the Mater Mothers, they wanted more experience (i'm just a year post reg). I went back to my agent at Geneva Health to move things forward there and she told me all the vacancies in QLD have dried up and are now primarily being advertised through Queensland health not being filtered through agents etc.... I feel back at square 1. Queensland is a very large area, has anyone else got similar information about the job situation in QLD? I've now started looking at NSW but i've never looked here before, can anyone give advice on areas? I'd like coastal ideally (but it seems so do many others) Being a brit I have everything crossed for warmer climates (hence being interested in QLD first and foremost). Any ideas/ suggestions would be great please........ I really don't know where to start  thanks Marie :v_SPIN:
