  1. Could he apply for a business visa instead of a 457?
  2. Hi, I recently applied for the 189 as an General Accountant. This category is very over subscribed. I was lucky to get an invite straight away with 75 points. 70 points currently takes around 2-3 months to get invited and they don't invite anyone with less than that at the moment. You could get 5 extra points for nominating NSW for the 190. They will only consider post qualification experience. I have the ICAEW qualification, you would need to check that the AAT covers all the syllabus that they require. Happy to answer any further questions if I can be of help
  3. Mine is a 189 visa. We are hoping to move in July!
  4. I'm not sure how long it takes for a plumber, but there are definitely others on this forum who would know. I think it depends how competitive it is for plumbers?
  5. Hi, I had to submit 2 because I discovered a mistake on the first one after I was invited, I put the dates on my signature. How many points did you have and what profession?
  6. Hi all, Has anyone else submitted their visa application this month? I have booked the medicals for 21st Feb How long should it take from here? If you submitted this month, when are you planning to make the move?
  7. Thank you Leanne, I submitted a new one last week and was invited on 18th. I have now submitted the full visa application.
  8. The agents I spoke to said it was really no big deal, and I could carry on with the application. Nevertheless, I decided to go on the side of caution and resubmitted my EOI last week, and was invited again yesterday. The visa application is filled in, and planning to submit it and pay tomorrow!! Scary stuff!! Sorry Ausstar - I don't know anything about External Auditors. However, one of the agents I spoke to said his client had been waiting for at least 4 rounds as an Accountant with 70 points
  9. Thank you for your reply. Although it's a small mistake I think I will go on the side of caution and submit a new one in time for next week's selection. Thank you
  10. Hi, I submitted my expression of interest on 18th Dec, got invited on 21st Dec (Accountant with 75 points). I prepared the visa application but before submitting it I realised that on the EOI I had chosen IPA instead of CPA as the assessing body. All the other information is correct. I can see 3 options now: 1. Continue with the application and hope it's not a big deal. 2. Do another EOI and hope to get selected on 18th Jan 3. Wait to withdraw the original EOI and start again (not keen on this option due to lost time and risk of missing the accountancy places) Can I do number 2? Can I have 2 EOIs in the system at the same time? Any input gratefully received. Thanks
  11. I spoke to a few agents today, and the general feeling was that it's such a minor mistake and doesn't affect the points score, so it should be fine. However, I also have the option to submit a new correct EOI straight away, and hope for selection on the 18th Jan. I think this is what I am going to do, as it's such a lot of money to pay out when I know that there is an error already
  12. No, I was just checking everything on the visa submission, ready to apply, and then I realised the error
  13. Thanks. I will call one tomorrow. I will also call DIBP. If I have to resubmit a new EOI it's not the end of the world if I can do it straight away, and not wait until the first one has expired.
  14. I submitted the EOI on 18th Dec, and got the invitation on 21st. I was almost ready to submit my visa application and I reaslised that I selected Institute of Public Accountants as the assessing body, instead of CPA. What should I do?
  15. I have logged in and checked my EOI, I have made a mistake!!! I have put the assessing body as the IPA and not the CPA!!! What do I do now?? (I haven't yet submitted the visa application thankfully)
  16. I having a bit of a panic, I got mixed up between IPA and CPA. The CPA did my skills assessment, on the visa for I nearly selected IPA. But now I'm worried in case I put IPA on the expression of interest! Does anyone know if there was a place to select the assessor (I think there was!!)??? How do I check what I put on the EOI?
  17. Thank you for your reply. I hadn't realised I needed to upload my CV (I haven't got to that bit yet) that helps, as I just thought that 300 characters was no where near enough space to explain everything!
  18. Hi, I have my invitation to apply, and trying to complete the visa application. On the experience section it asks for a 300 character description of your work experience. What information are they looking for, do they want a bullet point list of daily tasks, or a more general description of the role. Thanks
  19. OK I'm nearly done with the application, however I am struggling to keep my description of my job to 300 characters. Are they looking for a summary of the organisation, type of work and where you fit in. Or are they looking for list of bullet points on your daily tasks?
  20. Oh wow, you've just arrived, I missed the date in your signature! Congratulations!! My husband contacted an agency and they basically only wanted to know once he has a visa and has arrived. We've been researching possible jobs for him, rough areas etc, but that's all. The plan is that he gets a job first and I look after the kids and bring my online (non-accountancy) business with me. I heard from several Australian accountants that it's tough to get accounting jobs in Perth at the moment. We are also both open to career changes and steps backwards if needed. I've logged into the visa application website - but that's all so far. Did you use an agency?
  21. Wow we totally fell in love with Perth! I was kind of hoping we wouldn't like it as my life would be cheaper and easier that way, but we loved it. First day back and my husband has started decluttering the house!! I submitted the expression of interest on 18th Dec whilst we were there and got our invite on 20th Dec. I now need to know how to apply!! I also told my parents within the first few days of getting back, which was always my biggest issue. We are hoping to go at the end of the school year in July but I think that might be pushing it!
  22. Hi guys, been quiet for a while as we haven't made up our minds about whether to apply or not. We leave tomorrow for 3 weeks in Perth and hopefully this will help with the decision!
  23. Hi, yes I got my letter back from CPA in July confirming that I could claim the full amount of points for experience. This will give me 80 points when I apply. However, I have not done the EOI yet as we have decided to wait and do it in November so that we don't have to pay for the visa until our visit to Australia and we are certain if this move is for us
  24. Thanks Suzukiscottie, So if it's just a couple of weeks, I could get away with not disclosing it? Thanks
