  1. Thank you for your reply. I did think that myself, just wanted to make sure .
  2. Hi can anyone tell me what happens to the Assurance of Support bond paid by my daughter when we came here on our subclass 143 visa , if we leave to go back to UK before the ten years are up ? We have been here 7+ years and can no longer manage financially as we only have our UK pension to live on . Will she have to wait the full ten years before she can get the money back ? Thank you in advance as you all seem so knowledgeable on here .
  3. We are Australian citizens came here 7 years ago aged 60 and 67 (husband ) to be with our family just finding it hard to manage financially at the moment and going through all the options and one is going back to UK .... we don't really want to and are trying to keep going till we reach ten years then see if we are entitled to anything from centre link if not we will have to sell up and go back . We do have Australian passports .
  4. I havent made myself very clear what i meant to say was will we need an up to date passport to claim full pension entitlement in the UK ? At the moment we are on low UK pension ...part of the reason we are struggling financially ..
  5. I was last on here about a year ago but i have read the forum quite regularly through the year ...my question is our British Passports run out in March 2015 and i was wondering should i renew them from here before they run out ? We are struggling financially to stay here so i think we may have to return to the UK some time in the near future but not before next March . Hope someone can advise me .
  6. I would say go home , it is a bit soon but you would always think i should have gone to see how i felt, so go and see how you feel, and absence makes the heart grow fonder so go and come back to your family who will have missed you . Also think how happy your dad will be to see you ..
  7. hi , i am wondering what if you return to UK after 10 years and have gone over the $64,000 you paid in due to having illness and operations etc ....would you have to pay Medicare more money ?.
  8. Thanks for your good wishes ...my heart says stay here but my head says how ? We have both worked all our lives and we thought when we came here we had ample savings ....not so ...soon eaten up by just day to day living and Perth just seems to get more expensive each year ...still in limbo at the moment ..will keep you posted .
  9. Having read your comments i am having second thoughts myself now ..my brother in law is here at the moment on holiday and says stay put here as it is not all it seems back in the UK ..we have our family here and we where going because of having no savings left and i know our family would help us but they have young families . that would be hard leaving the grandchildren too so all in all i think we may give it a bit longer here ....thankyou for your comment ...it helped alot ..
  10. Hi , we have lived here now for 7 years and cant afford to live here any longer as we have used our savings up and dont qualify for any benefits for ten years .i am wondering if we go back to England do we have to take the habitual residence test or just move back and restart our life again where we left off ?
  11. Thanks for this information ,
  12. Thankyou for finding this , it is very kind of everyone helping us to find a solution to our problems , i will see if there is somewhere like this near to where we live as we live north of the river .
  13. Thanks Fisher for your advice ...we did look into what you said but as we live in a small house we wouldnt really be able to rent a house at a smaller rent than what we would get for ours .....i think we will have to release the equity from our house somehow if we can find a good deal ,i think age has a lot to do with it too iam 66 and my husband is 73 .If you decide to live here ,especially in Perth , make sure you have plenty of savings ......mind you we thought we had enough !
  14. We are also in Perth so know how expensive it is too , thanks for your advice i will look into the 2 options you have given me ....thank you .
  15. Thanks Pom Queen , some good ideas there , we did go to the bank asking about equity release but the compound interest was too high over the years but selling the house and either renting or building a granny flat seems worth looking into xx thanks
