  1. Congratulations to everyone who have recently received their grant! kellie, I am thinking about you. It is so horrible. I really hope you can hang on with the house sale for a week or so until the grant comes through. There is nothing to suggest it won't is there so I am guessing it is just you have a slow team handling yours (I really hope that is the case anyway). I am sure whoever is buyi the house really wants it now so a few more weeks waiting shouldn't be too bad (they would have to find another house and wait for it to go through so what have they to loose?!). Rooting for you. Really hope next week is your week xxx
  2. Thanks Dan. I am sure they will be fine - kids are so adaptable and they are young enough I think. Good luck with the move back home. We are planning to give it a couple of years and if we are not happy will count our losses and move back - you don't know til you try do you? Certainly don want to look back and wonder what it would have been like and wish wed have gone - life's too short you have tried it and I am sure have had some fabulous experiences and now you know where you want to be. Good luck, hope it all works our for you ;-)
  3. thanks for the advice everyone, my boys are both now happy and excited about the news. the eldest did have a couple of 'this is the end of the world' moments but he is fine now ;-)
  4. I am sure you won't have to do form80 again. Lots don't have to do it (we didnt ) in fact I recon that maybe the reason it is taking longer - more for co to check and pass off. Seems to me the people on here who have done form 80 are taking longer to get thevisa. Easy to say but try not to worry. You will get it (you have passed everything now) spit is just a matter of time. Big hugs xxxx
  5. Great news coolbreeze and 9785chris! (7 weeks wow!). Kellie is got everything crossed for you hope yours comes very soon x spinsuraj hope someone can answer your question for you ;-)
  6. Thanks bob. I am gutted my have to ask my mum to have him for a little while before he comes over!
  7. Hi realitynotincluded we probably will buy outright to be honest for all the reasons you quote - just want to know incase we need more to get a house big enough for our family. I have a friend with a pool where I am going (adelaide) so not too bad. We will be staying with them initially anyway so we can use theirs for a while ;-)
  8. Thanks Andy. Guess I will have to wait until I am there to see then. Michelle martin tin thanks for your suggestion - I guess you didn't realise Andy was one! ;-)
  9. Does anyone know what sort of situation you need to be in to get a mortgage in oz? We have a good amount to buy (could buy outright 3/4 bed) but would like to maybe get a small mortgage so we can afford a pool. We want to but as soon as possible as we think it'd be better to use the money on a house rather than renting and paying out each month. What at I need to know is if you can get a mortgage without a permanent job - if we get supply teaching for example? Also is there a difference because we will have a large deposit? Thanks.
  10. Aaahhhh just had a call from the vet - my dog has failed the rabies test! He has to have another jab! So anyone wondering when to do it - do it as soon as you can incase it is the same for you! He isn't going to be ready for when we plan to go now but I am hoping we will be able to get my mum to have him for a bit.
  11. Thinking about you all who are still waiting.
  12. I think vandeux is right Kellie my agent said 'within a month' so I was really shocked to be so quick. I think though it is (unfortunately) luck of the draw as to who gets what team and some are just quicker than others. Hope you hear soon x
  13. Oops sorry for the late reply - my notification went to trash mail so didn't think anyone had replied, anyway... I have my visa! Wow! Was really worried for my husbands back - 3 slipped disks and time off work, and plenty of medication but he passed it fine! So anyone reading in a similar position don't worry! Yipeeee we are off to oz! Good ode luck with yours big mac!
  14. I think it depends on the team. I think we we're lucky to get team 4 - they seem pretty quick. Our meds were uploaded on 10th march and we got visa on the 12th but I think most wait longer. My agent said it would be about a month so I think maybe it is more the norm to be longer. Kellie  Big hugs the wait is horrible for you especially as you have sold and are ready to go. Contact your agent tomorrow and get some reassurance x coolbreeze hope yours comes soon too. Did you do form 80? I am wondering if maybe that makes it take longer as they have to then pass all the info. No one asked for it from us! Good luck everyone.
  15. ha ha maybe i should have done this!! thanks everyone for your replies. I am not too worried about him being ok and adapting - i know he will be fine and once there will probably love it. I think it is more the here and now - it is horrible (as every parent knows) seeing your child distressed and feeling like you can't help them (i wish i could wave a magic wand and show him what it will be like). Its really useful hearing your stories of how you handled it - thanks (keep ideas coming please!). I am sure it'll all be ok - just wish i knew the exact right way to help him through the next few weeks
  16. Not sure if i am posting this in the right place so forgive me if it is in the wrong category! We have just been granted our visa and have been discussing Australia (as a holiday really) more and more with our boys (aged 4&6). The little one recently actually asked if we could go and live there so we have gone from there really - discussing with them the benefits 'if' we did. We didn't want to say we were going until our visa was definate so have just tonight mentioned going to live as a possibility and our eldest has been really upset, crying and saying he doesn't want to go and leave grandma etc. He is pretty sensitive and doesn't like to try anything until he knows what it will be like (for example if we start a new group he will watch the first time and join the next - whereas the little one will try it out straight away no worries). anyone been through similar (or have any thoughts on how to handle it)? if so what did you do/say? All ideas very welcome - i will be devastated if we get to the point of moving and he is still really upset and not wanting to go! Thanks
  17. i just found a message from my agent on my phone from last wednesday - WE HAVE BEEN GRANTED OUR VISA!! i can't believe i hadn't heard the message - my agent must think i am so laid back only calling him today! It was only 2 days after uploading meds. No form 80 thankfully! I am in shock! wow, so much to do - not sure where to start!! Good luck everyone
  18. Thanks snifter I will have a search in those areas. Do you know what flagstaff hill is like?
  19. ok decision is made. we are heading to adelaide in the summer (our summer) and looking for work. Anyone recommend a nice suburb with a good primary? we would like to be nearish to beaches and maybe near to the hills (not too close to bushfire risk though!). The most important thing for us is the primary school for our sons so we want the 'best' area we can find really. Any thoughts?
  20. PCC and husbands meds uploaded today so waiting like everyone else. waiting is already killing me :biglaugh: I haven't a clue which 'team' i am with as i am with an agent - anyone know how to find this out if using an agent?
