  1. Rupert I have to say I love your post! Thank you for being a breath of fresh air in amongst all of the doom and gloom!! Best wishes Carmel
  2. Some people are just born lucky! Your brother must be one of them! I work in HR and am v grateful for the honesty on these threads as it is preparing me for what I might expect once I get out to Oz! I am living in Ireland at the moment and Oz sounds like a walk in the park compared to the realities of life here. It is great that people are warning us of the hardship in Oz but will it affect my decision to go out there?? -- No. No-one else can live my life for me, as no-one else can tell me what experiences I will actually face when I get out there but thanks for the honesty anyway -- I know now I just need to take a ton of money with me to tide us over til me and the OH get jobs. PS In the past when I have recruited I hired a HR Adviser role and I chose an Ozzie girl over UK candidates because she seemed to fit the company better than the UK candidates -- she was great - my point is sometimes personality wins over once you get the interview.
  3. What was it in the end Scrumpy? Did you work it out?
  4. Hey Kerry -- good there's no needing to be stressing  anyway it's my turn for the next stress out lol!! WE willl take it in turns and then calm each other down!! Debs what made you decide on Oz when you have never been there -- I think that's really cool that you are starting a new life for yourself and the little fella. WE will all (you, me and Kez) have to hang out in Oz (if we ever bloody get there!!) My little boy is 6 too he's 7 in October so they can be mates down under!! lol
  5. Hey Ladies -- just packed ittle monsters off to bed and sat down with a big glass of wine!! What a day hey -- wrecked!!
  6. Ahh how old is your little boy? My OH and I have 3 LO's (7 yrs, 3 yrs and 1 yr - 2 boys & our little princess!). It's a tough decision with LO's isn't it? Makes it all the harder to be sure you are doing the right thing -- however, we hate Ireland, where we have lived for last 7 years to be nearer to family, as it rains all the time and we don't want to go back to UK (we are from UK originally and lived in London prior to moving here). WE both loved Oz when we were there before hence our plans to emigrate once and for all!! Not sure where we will end up yet - HR Adviser sponsorship is currently ACT, WA and SA I was hoping to be on East Coast as my dad and sister both live in NZ. WE wanted to be near the beach though so not sure about ACT but my first cousin is there and I've heard on PIO it is tough to get that first job in HR. I am going to use the time til the skills assessment comes through to see what my options are and research and make a decision!! You are lucky being a nurse that you can go anywhere really and are very much in demand!! Btw Kerry (Kezzles) is heading to WA. When are you hoping to be out there?
  7. When do you expect to get your decision back Cat? Exciting times but the waiting is a nightmare isn't it!!!!!
  8. I have a similiar situation!! I have an original contract of employment and a reference confirming job title plus start and finish date, but the companys policy is only to provide that -- will I need to submit a statutory declation as well?? I know the company won't give meanything else as they are a family run business and awkward b*****s! Will the CO accept the papers I do have with a statutory declaration?? Thanks Carmel
  9. Oh that's good to know -- I think I have 60 points and don't need to do IELTS again -- just have to wait for Skills assessment back now!! Beginning of October mine is due ................. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Hi Debs I think if I get a good skills assessment back I should have 60 points and be able to go for the 190 - if not it is back to IELTS again!! My skills assessment is not back til beginning of October so another long wait. Where are you hoping to go to? Which state? Carmel
  11. Thanks Debs -- I'm still in shock!! Pleased as punch with the 3 9's never expected to do so well on 3 of them! but disappointed with the writing I wish I had planned it a bit better and then I could have got an 8 -- I didn't plan it enough -- oh well as long as I have enough for the points overall. Kerry you said before that it doesn't matter whether you get 60 or 70 points on the 190 is that correct?
  12. Thanks Kerry hopefully we will have enough!!!!!!! I think I have enough for the 60 points depending on quals and experience ....
  13. Well after a long wait for my results !!! I got L 9, R 9 W 7.5 (!!) S 9 -- agh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Overall 8.5 -- Not sure if I have enough for my points -- I think I have if I get 15 in both qualifications and experienc!!?? Gosh - Im in shock -- I did really well but then awful at the writing!! Not sure if I have to resit...................... :goofy:
  14. Agh good luck hope you do manage to get it remarked to a 7 would save you having to re-sit it!! Best wishes Carmel
  15. Agh no Alnaibii!!! You did so well with the others!! Did you find the speaking hard on the day?? You could ask for a re-mark on the speaking if you felt it went well?? Carmel
  16. If there were performance issues already, an incident like this, along with evidence in emails, would likely tip it over the edge and make the situation untenable for him to continue. He certainly choose the wrong person to mess with in the form of Head of HR!! Glad it is all resolved Sustain as these things can be particularly nasty hanging over people at work! Although he may well claim unfair dismissal!?
  17. HI Alnaibii - I'm in Ireland and still waiting for my Dublin results!! I checked both those sites and still nothing -- it's a nightare isn't it -- was just debating whether to clean the house from top to bottom to keep myself occupied!!!
  18. Well done Niinstalls - they are brilliant results you must be so chuffed!! I have to wait til 2pm for my results -- bloody Ireland is behind with eveything!! Lol
  19. Maybe there is hope for me yet then Debs!! I just thought cos I didn't talk long enough that was it!! She asked loads of questions that just threw me as well so god knows how I did!! I just checked my paperwork and it says 'Your results will be available to view onine no later than 2pm' so I could still be waiting up til then aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I think my worst one is gonna be the speaking. I didn't speak for long enough on the 2 minutes thing and she had to tell me to carry on!!!! Agh!! Not sure about the writing as well -- I think reading and listening were good though - oh I just want the blinking results now!! Put me out of my misery .......
  21. Well done Kerry that is great you got what you wanted!! Well done Dondanell did you get what you needed as well? I am really cross as I cannot get my results, have been trying for last 40 minutes. It gos to the page but just won't connect to my results!!! -- I bet it's cos I'm in Ireland and they haven't posted them up yet!!!!! :realmad: Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
  22. Yeah I think so - we have been together 10 years though and have a ton of pictures & 3 children (almost 7 yrs, 3 yrs & 1yr) and moved to rainy Ireland together to be nearer my family (it hasn't worked out here) .... I think we have enough evidence it is just collating it all -- homework for this weekend! I have yet to tell the OH he has to write a statement about how we met that will be funny lol . It must be a nice feeling that you have it all submitted and are just waiting now?
  23. Thanks Debs -- it's just like being back at school!!
