  1. Hello! I am due to get my results for IELTS tomorrow and feel more nervous than waiting for my A-level results:err: What I want to know is, do they give feedback on each of the four sections where you went wrong? I know you thinking why not and see, it's only one more day but I can't take it anymore! God knows how I am going to be waiting for the visa to come through!
  2. I know! Such a crap day! The waiting and the rude staff! There was 69 people doing the test so everything was very slow I need to get 8 in all 4 so preparing just in case! It's ok though, I have 5 more weeks for skills assessment to be done so have time to redo it if need be
  3. Londoners are rude! quite unbelievable sometimes actually. Great place to have fun though The next 2 weeks are going to drag waiting for that letter. Didn't think a poxy little test would end up causing this much stress!
  4. Hahahaha! I will go to Mexico to do em if I have too! who marks the speaking? The person who does the interview or do they take the recording and assess it afterwards? If its the person who interviews, I am gonna get 10/9. She loved it!
  5. Lol, yeah I know! I have been looking at re-booking and will definitely go to a different test center next time.
  6. This was the response I got today when requesting the recording from the listening test. Dear Donavan, Thank you for your enquiry. We cannot supply a recording of your speaking test. This is due to the secure nature of the IELTS test. For further assistance, please contact the test centre where you originally took the test.
  7. I'm not gonna lie, it got a bit awkward in there. Especially when my hand started going! Luckily she cut me short after about a minute but she defo saw the funny side! I have emailed them asking for a copy of the recording "for my own development". I just wanna hear how bad it was!
  8. The speaking is tough if they ask you questions you are not familiar with. When she asked me to talk about an advert I had seen which made you go and buy the product, this ad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JTsFzk0x0A) was all I could think of as I had seen it on Friday. The lady was in stitches but thinking about it now, I should have bluffed and said I had bought a big mac!
  9. I wish I had thought of that! I also got stuck on about 3 of the listening questions, something about a health centre and then business and communications but not too worried! The reading, I think (hope) all of them but my stealthy raid of the office stationary cupboard was in vain as we weren't allowed highlighters and just used my pencil to underline where I had found answers. The people in the running the test looked extremely disappointed with life, the guy next too me tried to finish off after they had said time was up and the women went on as if he was trying to murder someone! Anyway all the best kezzles! keep us posted with the results.
  10. urgh! The writing was horrible, got asked to write about people who decide to stay in the same career as oppose to those who change careers! Can't remember a lot of it but do remember using Lord Alan Sugar's name in there somewhere! The listening and reading was a breeze, the speaking through me off a bit. Got asked about my, whether I like boats and why and then about the last time I watched a ad on which made me actually go and buy something which was followed by more questions about advertising in general! The speaking lasted 22 minutes. Is there a difference between Academic and general speaking?
  11. Hi Bimbima, Maybe look at Systems Administrator. It is being sponsored on CSOL and not an occupation which will reach the ceiling anytime soon. Network and Systems engineer is probably the hardest occupation to be assessed. NSW is currently sponsoring System Administrators, have a look at the ACS site for a description this would include to see if it relates to you? When did you apply for your assesment?
  12. I'm also starting to struggle with the writing! I think the more I do, the worse it's getting! I hope I get 8s in all 4! I really don't want to miss out on any more of this weather to write essays, read the same thing over and over, listen to boring conversations and talking to myself infront of the mirror about my plans for the weekend, or my home town:chatterbox:
  13. That is some great advice! I have mine booked for next weekend (27/07). Happy with the writing and hopefully the speaking. I am going to overdose on red bull beforehand to try and concentrate during the listening . The reading I am finding difficult because I just end up re-reading the whole thing over and over on each question! I will be raiding the office stationary cupboard for highlighters now. Thanks for sharing all your experiences and advice on what to expect! Good luck to those still stressing over it (like I am).
  14. All of it. Just remember that ACS will deduct experience from you depending on your degree/qualifications. With a bachelors, I think it is only 2 years that will be deducted. If you only used your vendor qualifications, they would deduct 5 years. If you have all those qualifications, the only reason you would need to submit an RPL for is you have never had them? Read heading 7 of the below document https://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/7319/Skills-Assessment-Guidelines-for-Applicants.pdf
  15. Hello, James007 is that your actual timeline or as you suggest an example? Not submitted in March or April but submitted mine in June. ACS Submission Date: 18/06/2013 Stage 1 - 18/06/2013 Stage 2 - 19/06/2013 Stage 3 - 20/06/2013 (Request for additional docs) Additional docs submitted on 20/06/2013 Stage 4 - 21/06/2013 (With Assessor) Stage 4 (In Progress) tbc ACS Skill Assessment Received: tbc I am hoping I will receive my results by the end of July but very doubtful reading through a few threads. I have my IELTS test booked for the 27th July so hoping to submit my EOI early August.
  16. I have been looking for the answer to this question too. Does anyone know at what point proof of funds will be needed? Is it the visa or on entry? And off topic a bit, I'm applying for a subclass 190 visa, if it gets approved, how long do they give you before you need to enter Aus to activate it? Thanks
  17. Hi guys, Quick question (sorry to bomb your thread Chris). Does having more points give you priority when submitting an EOI, for example someone with 60 points stands less chance than someone with 75? Or is it based on first come first served as long as you have 60 or more?
  18. Thanks riverakid! I will give them a call next week once I have everything ready to go! Really appreciate this!
  19. Thanks RiveriaKid. I am in London and should be able get down there next week. I am just waiting for my new passport then will have everything. i can't see how to PM you? Would really appreciate those details.
  20. Thanks ThistleandThons. Did you get your documents certified by a notary or just a solicitor? I am being quoted £85 for the first doc and £10 for each additonal document! Hope this comes through, this will determine whether I make the move or not.
  21. Hi ahpplicant, Thanks for the advise, my line manager and previous employer are (luckily) quite willing to help me with this. Thanks for the link, should be 10 points if they validate my experience. Did you also have to upload a CV when doing the skills assessment? The only reason I ask is because I get charged £10 to certify documents and as it is this is over £100 for the ones I currently have and dont want to spend too much!
  22. Hello! I'm new here and just trying to see if anyone would be able to give me some advise. I am going to lodge my ACS skills assessment next week using ANZSCO 263212 (ICT Support Engineer) I have 5y3m experience as a Desktop and Print Engineer which i can prove from the gleaming references my employers have given me and I have an MCSA 2003, MCTS, MCP ITIL V3 and a certificate from a short course I did at a University. My main concern is if they will give me a positive assessment with the qualifications? If I do get a positive assessment, how many point would this give me? Many thanks
