I am trying to find out if my OH needs to have his skills assessed by the TRA. He had his skills asses by a TRO (culinary solutions) he got an AQF3. When i look on the TRA website they recommended a few TRO's, I contacted them and this is the response I got below. I am really confused, how do we go about getting his skills assessed. I e-mailed the TRA but no response. Also does he now have to do an AQF4, he has been working as a chef for the last 20 years, head for 15. please can anyone offer some advice. Will it be better just to look for sponsorhsip then, regional is also ok? Thank you for your email. We assume your husband is applying for aVisa 457 to work in Australia. Currently, the Dept of Immigrationrequires applicants from the following Nominated Countries to undertake askills assessment for migration: 1. Brazil 2. China (including Hong Kong and Macau) 3. Fiji 4. India 5. Papua New Guinea 6. Philippines 7. South Africa 8. Thailand 9. Vietnam 10. Zimbabwe Note: Our Institute is allowed to assessapplicants from the 7 countries highlighted in BOLD. I attach the latest Visa 457 guidelinesfrom Trades Recognition Australia for your reference and please contact them toenquire further about skills assessment. Is your husband’s nationality one of theabove nominated countries? If not, please approach TRA to confirm whether hemay be exempted from a skills assessment. 11. Hi, My husband is a Head Chef and has been for the last 15years, he was born in the UK and is a UK Citizen. We had his skills assessed by culinary solutions 4 years agowhen we were planning on immigration. He received and AQF III certificate after the assessment. We were unable to proceed with the plan to immigratedue to family illness. We are now ready to do apply, does he have to have hisskills assessed again? We are registering interest on the Skillset Website, one ofthe questions are if we had his skills assessed? He is still in the same profession and continues to be ahead chef. Please can you let me know what we need to do as I was toldwe need to have the skills assessed for TRA, culinary solution is aregistered TRO. I can alos not find anything on the TRA wensite for UK chefs Your help is much appreciated.
