Paul Hand has advised you not to wait until 31st December. Apply a few weeks earlier to allow for delays etc. Your new 5 year term will start from the date your RRV is approved, not the date you apply.
No, the government has not stopped granting 5 year RRV to overseas applicants. If you meet the "2 years out of 5 years" criteria, you are entitled to a 5 year RRV no matter where you are. Many people are refused because they do not meet the criteria.
Thank you @Marisawright Sorry- I overlooked Pauls message!
Noted that it will be 5 years from date it is granted.
So that would be additional 2 years to current visa expiry on Feb 2025.

Thank you for your comment.
May I ask for some further clarification.
My current RRV is issued on 5th Feb 2020 and next application date lets say is 31st Dec 2022.
In that case, the new 5 year term will be 5 year from 31st Dec 2022.
Is my understanding correct?
I heard that if the government stopped granting 5 years RRV for applicants who are overseas>=?
Many thanks in advance.

Hello Forum Members
I would appreciate if someone can throw light on my situation.
I already have a 155 RRV that expires on 5th Feb2025.
I am currently in Japan and would like to extend the time further if I satisfy the conditions.
Below are movement days as per record and I have lived in Australia for total
741 days since my first entry on 31/12/2017.
Is my understanding correct that 31/12/2022 would be the last qualifying date
to re-apply for 155 RRV to have a further 5 year extension?
Thank you in advance. -
Thanks for the quick update Paul.
I appreciate it.
I intend to extend the validity of my RRV as much as possible.
If you can advise on how the dates are calculated and if there are any factors that could possibly prevent me from getting extension would be highly helpful.
Thanks alot in advance.

Hello Forum Members
I hope you are doing fine.
I would really appreciate if you can advise me on the below query for RRV.
- I was granted 190 class PR while I was overseas in the year 2014
- I moved to Australia in 2018 and lived there from Jan 1st 2018 till Feb 5th,2020 with few days overseas between this duration.
- I had applied subclass 155 visa on 28th December 2018 and was granted a 1 year RRV expiring on 28th December 2019
- I had applied for subclass 155 visa and on 1st Feb 2020 and was rejected as I did not finish exact 730 days in Australia.
- However, I had re-applied on Feb,5th 2020 and was granted subclass 155 RRV visa expiring on 2 Feb 2025.
I am currently overseas from march 2020 and I have not been able to come back due to COVID and other personal circumstances, However, I believe I still satisfy the 730 days in 5 years rule.
Is it possible for me to reapply for subclass 155 in order to maximise the duration of visa(i.e from feb 2025 to feb 2026 or later)?
Thanks and Best Regards
Manish

Thanks @paulhand
I read it on one of the forums.
I suppose as long as one satisfies the condition it should not be an issue.
