Sounds exceptionally intrusive to me! We moved from Scotland and didn't have to do anything of the kind. Although, like Grabri, mine have aussie citizenship through their dad. I am constantly shocked by stories of things English schools require. Even for a day off. It's all so Nanny State.

We live in the Adelaide Hills. I absolutely hate it. It's just absolutely not my style. Completely "Adelaide Hills 90210" Complete lack of community spirit and pretentious, plastic people trying to out-rich each other.

4 Scots, 2 Aussies :-) They all have dual citizenship as DH is an Aussie. I'm the only non dual cit left in the family, but I'm eligible to apply now. Have recently found out that the kids of the ones born in Scotland can claim dual citizenship, but the kids of the ones born in Scotland can't :-(

Dustyroad, I'm most certainly not on his visa :-P May be odd, but I really am concerned on behalf of a friend. As far as I'm aware, she's on his visa at the mo, but is planning on getting her own based on her skills (teacher). Personally, if I was her, I'd be on the first plane out of here back to my family. She has decided that she has nothing left in the UK and wants to stay here with or without him. I will maybe advise her to talk to an agent.

So could he legally stop them studying here?

Hello everyone. :-) My first post here. I have a friend who has been here about 6 months. She is having problems in her marriage, which is really sad. I am hoping they will sort it out, but if they don't, I have a feeling her hubby will want to move back to the UK. They have 2 young children and she is assuming that if he does go, she and the kids will stay as she has a job (although it is only part time and casual) Can anyone tell me the legal implications of this? I don't know how it would work, because surely he should be allowed access to the kids?
