  1. We used Kent in November for our move from Melbourne to UK.....unfortunately a lot of our stuff was damaged in transit when we received it last week. I'm waiting to hear back from them after emailing them. I will be interested to see how they handle my complaint. We used crown from the UK and they were really good. Wish I had stuck with them for my return!!!
  2. We used Crown from Glasgow 2 years ago and they were fantastic. Letton Percival for insurance too.... Done 2 international moves and very happy with both these companies. Good luck!!
  3. We used Kent from Melbourne in November. Our stuff arrived last week....3 beds were badly scratched, a lot of dishes smashed and our glass TV stand was in bits!! That's just the stuff we know about as most of our stuff was going straight into storage. The main problem was inadequate, rushed packing and the loaders just crammed everything into the container. The boxes we opened had used rolls of tape and other bits of rubbish thrown in them. We used Crown from Glasgow and they were fantastic.
  4. Hello! Ive just moved back to the uk from Melbourne last month. We were there for 2 years. We are From Glasgow and planned on going "home" but my husbands job has brought us to London. Any advice you need on Glasgow, just ask and also anything on moving in general!!
  5. Thanks for your advice everyone! We used Crown coming to Australia and they were excellent. I've had 3 quotes and Crown are considerably more expensive, so was looking for an alternative. I was favouring Kent more over Grace as I know they use White and co or Bishops in the uk... Both reputable companies. I'll decide tomorrow but think it will be Kent or Crown!! Good luck sorting everything out AOMH!!!
  6. Does anyone have any experience of Grace removals or Kent from Melbourne to UK? We used Crown coming to Australia but their quote is expensive in comparison to other 2 so looking for some feedback...
  7. Thanks for your replies. Just as I thought really, probably wait until we go back go UK
  8. We will be moving back to the UK in the next 2 to 3 years. We really want to buy now and rent while we're still here in oz. I have contacted many of the big lenders, Nationwide, HBOS, RBS and none are willing to give us a mortgage unless we are back in the UK within 2 years and have a salary being paid into one of our UK accounts. Has anyone managed to secure a mortgage? I know the rules changed in the last few years and it is more difficult to do this than it used to be but surely it's not impossible? Any advice appreciated!
  9. Hi, we are moving from glasgow to Melbourne in October and have decided to use White and Co. Their quote was almost 1,000 pds cheaper than the other quotes. I tend not to always go with the cheapest but think they will do just as good a job as any other company. I had a quote from crown and went back to them to see if they would come down in price, they did but only by 200!! White and co quote is 3,800 for a 20ft container...full service packing and unpacking other side. No brainer really!!! Good luck!
  10. Thanks guys......had crown out, quite impressed, looking to get another few quotes, so these are a great start!
  11. Great..thanks for your replies..think i'll be squeezing as much as I can into my container!
  12. Hi, We have just started getting quotes to ship our stuff to Melbourne. I haven't included my washing machine or dishwasher. Do some rentals have these or would we have to rent them? Don't want to buy anything straight away.....Anyone know? Thanks!
  13. I'll look out for your update...We're moving from Glasgow to Melbourne in a few months. I am just starting to get quotes, i'll definitely give this company a call...good luck!
  14. Hi, We are making the move from Glasgow to Melbourne over the next few months and have started looking at removal companies.....anyone had any good/bad experiences they would like to share?
  15. I have flown as cabin crew for 19 years....all long haul and would NOT recommend this both as a mum of 2 and a crew member. Its amazing the amount of times ive seen kids/adults become ill on flights. If your little one is unwell and drowsy with piriton or something similar it can be very difficult to figure out what is wrong with them. As mentioned before, it is all part of travelling and as daunting as it may seem, probably wont be as bad as you think. Take plenty of things to entertain and snacks. Walk about with him if he is restless. Dont worry about other passengers either. I love reminding "complainers" they used to be children themselves and probably are parents with older kids and a short memory!! My kids love travelling now...im the one who cant still...too used to working 13 hour shifts! Enjoy and good luck!
