  1. Me hi there, yes work are happy to. It was discussed before I joint as my previous company had also agreed. My current employee became a sponsor in order to take on my visa. It's just getting the ball rolling and making it happen. Could do with a lotto win to pay for it but hey, small investment into my future hey.
  2. Hi there, Ive just gone through a 457 visa transfer. Painful 9 week wait with no income and not financially prepared for the lengthy delay. Anyway, I've been advised by an agent that I can become a residency as an Insurence Broker with an employer nomination. Looking for advice as to the process? Time frame and cost? Medical, English test, police checks? Recommend any good agents in Melbourne? I have 10 years insurance experience, been in Melbourne 2.5 years on holiday working, 457 and then 457 visa was transferred. 2nd job in Melbourne, first job in Melbourne was for 2 years Thanks for the advice
  3. Visa application complete. Start 22nd Jan and Business Sponsor and 457 approved Tuesday 24th March.
  4. Thanks for your help. I went to the department of immigration today and the lady was actually really helpful. Said that the time frame is 2 - 3 months but she told me, to tell the agent to follow up as they wouldn't provide status considering it's the business side which takes the time and it's privacy etc. The lady said that she would say give it a week and it should be here. Its my own fault for trusting the agents '3 weeks' just hard to accept the debt Ive built up without an income and the thought of returning to England isn't the best feeling but I guess it's a process kinda thing...
  5. Spoken to the agent and no news to report. Was told that recently a low risk case was reviewed and approved in 2 weeks however, some low risk country applications were still pending since December. I've been told there is nothing I can do however, I am facing the likely hood of returning to the UK due to no money. I'm now living of credit with effect from today.... Is there not a way immigration could provide a bridging visa or hurry this up considering the financial hardship I'm facing because of there back log?
  6. Hi guys, I am waiting on a 457 visa transfer to a new employer who is a first time sponsor. My new company submitted an application to sponsor along with an application to transfer my visa. We are using an agent and have been advised our application was submitted as 'decision ready' We submitted on the 22nd January 2015. We was advised the process would take 3 weeks, then 5 and now its at 2 months. Having read the posts on the forums I believe the business side can take some time. I am hoping people can post the dates they submitted and have applications pending with the same circumstances. Not ideal but I left my last employer due to a number of issues which effected my health. I am therefore, sitting at home fast running out of money, racking up debts and with no idea on timeframes. Any ideas on what I could do to move this along or is it just a matter of playing the waiting game? If I had known just how flexible the timeframes are I would have continued to suffer just to keep the money coming in. This is the first time I have transferred visas.
  7. That's great news. Thanks. The company hasn't sponsored before so this will allow me to get then organised, hopefully get my 457 taken over and then resign. Time for another post on current timeframes for the process to go through (if no issues arise) thanks all
  8. I would like to think that is the case however, have a feeling that once the visa changes over I would be breaking the rules of the visa by staying with the current?
  9. Hi there, I am looking for some advice. I am on a 457 visa which expired Oct 2017. I have secured another role and they have not sponsored before. They are happy to follow the process. The lawyer who handled my first 457 will be appointed. I have been quoted 8 weeks and of course, it's not a confirmed acceptance from immigration. I don't want to be unemployed nor so I want to pull the plug just in case. Saying that, when do you resign? If my new employer is accepted as a sponsor and my visa is transferred I would have to quit with no notice period thus meaning I lose my annual leave etc. What has other people done, any advice for me? If I walk out of my current job I burn bridges. After 2 years of headaches, under paid and messing around by my employer I feel I owe zero loyality however, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here and want to do things correctly. Thanks guy
  10. Hi there, It's been a while since I invested the time in assessing my position here in Melbourne. 2 years ago (to the day) I touched down in Cairns for 6 months of traveling. I then got sponsored in Melbourne and that’s the end of the story to some extent. When I first joined the company, the company paid me a silly salary however; when we agreed on the 457 my salary was reviewed. As time went on, I've had a list of issues with work. Poor management, somewhat bullying as I was apparently making Aussie's look bad at work.... If I have an hour I would give you the full extend but I would say, why did you put up with it?! Well, I love my life in Melbourne however, lately, I don’t think it's enough. I have been advised that I would not get PR on my own. I do not hold a degree and my role is off the list. Work however, have said they could do it at a cost of $10,000 which includes their bloody expensive lawyer. Who the company uses is not open for discussions. For this, the company will lock me in for 3 years. If I leave in year 1 it's 100%, year 2 50% and year 3 25%. I can apply next October and work will confirm the above in April 2015. This being said, I took a promotion in April to a Team Leader. After 5 years of poor management the job has taken its toll with difficult staff issues and more recently finding out other peoples pay. I have never discussed pay until I became a manager. I have 10 years insurance experience. I manage a team of 4 and am fully responsible for alot more senior roles however, my manager in summary doesn’t have the experience. My senior claims advisor gets paid $72,000 I get paid as a manager $72,000 The previous team leader got paid $78,000 and the other team leader currently gets paid $85,000. Basically, it's a classic attempt to take advantage of my position. After 2 years of hard battling I am deflated and the decision now needs to be made about returning. I have been looking in Melbourne et al however, with my job off the list it makes it harder. Has anyone else had the same issues. Any advice people could offer etc? I would be grateful for everyone’s feedback. I came here 2 years. I am now 27.
  11. Hey mate, are you still in Melbourne. I'm looking to expand the social group so would be keen to catch up. PM if your interested, cheers
  12. Hi guys, I am in the same boat. I can here for what was meant to be 6 months work and travel and got sponsored and 18 months down the line I am struggling again with the social life. I'm 26 and live in North Melbourne, work CBD Monday to Friday. I would be keen to meet up for a beer if anyone else is, drop me a message, Cheers
  13. I think I have been in touch with a couple of you guys before however, lost your number. I am still keen to catch up and meet people in the same boat. Not too sure how this site works with messaging people however, thought I would jump in and get the advert up the list. Cheers
  14. Seems like banging my head against the brick wall sometimes. Back to work today and it's all waiting for me. I would like PR so that it makes the job hunt easier but am I correct in saying that it's a new 2 year timer on a 457 thus meaning that the clock started October 2013 when granted rather than when I starting working for my place in Feb when I had the Holiday Working Visa? The issue I have is that I don't want to end up hating being in Australia just because of work. I decided to stay for the life style but at the moment, the stress of work stays with me and means the lifestyle is stressful. Maybe it's just a patch but I was wondering if it's something that people have dealt with and what their outcome was.
  15. Due to be providing little notice, please consider this event cancelled. I will re-port in early 2014 with a new date. Apologies and best wishes for 2014.
