  2. Hi. Im an electrician also and recently got my 189 visa. Have you completed the point test to see if you could hit the 60 points minimum ?. Contact the down under centre in London in regards to a skills assessment. They will want to see all your Certs. References. Payslips etc ( experience is a big one usually 3 years post apprenticeship is needed before you go any further )once you pass that stage you will sit a 2 hour electrical theory and 4-5 hour practical assessment. Motor control .fault finding. Testing. Low voltage install. Depending on your points you might need to look into doing an English test I.e IELTS or Pearson academic

  3. Hi all,

I had PTE test on 28-07-2016 but so far the scores are not published.

It's almost a week and I am worried. :arghh:

The status shows as "taken- scores are not reportable"

Any one in this forum had such experience?

    Thanks

the first time I took it I waited bang on 5 business days. The second time I waited 15 business days. But I scored the 20 points so it was worth it in the end. Hand on in there

  4. Put a cover letter with the details of what happened with an explanation that it was out of character and would never think of doing something like that again.. It was just a mistake. I also had 2 cautions on my record. I explained what happened with a cover letter and showed regret the main thing is that your honest with the cover letter, they can ask for more info if they feel the need

  5. ...when there aren't enough for the people who are already here!

Mining Project Managers still being sought? Really?? I thought people in mining were leaving in droves because the jobs just aren't there anymore.

I saw a link to this article and thought it must have been from a few years ago, but apparently it was only yesterday!

  6. Hello my name Alex I'm 26 years old and a fully qualified carpenter and play ryman prem in football (soccer) and I want to move to Australia, but not sure what visa to apply for.... I have family in Brisbane so I would like to live there so I have a base etc, I've already used my working holiday visa when I was 18.

Any help would be great, or even pointing me in the right direction of what visa company to use.

    thanks in advance

    Alex

a 457 visa is like a last option buddy it's only a temporary visa. Your chained to a certain employer for upto 4 years.. Look into the 189 visa. It's an independent visa. You can live anywhere you like and have permanent residency when you enter the country. Calculate your points and contact a registered migration agent

  7. Hi there,

we are a family of 3 recently moved to Sunshine Coast. Staying with family at the moment. Moving to North Lakes soon. My husband is an electrician and finding it difficult to find out where he can go to sit electrical license? Jobs are slow!! Applied for loads even as labourer and no one is biting. Are there any ex pat electricians who could offer some advice to us? Either here or face to face? Another wee question does anyone know if any ex pay meet ups are planned in Brisbane?

    Many thanks in advance!

november and June New Zealand offer overseas electricians a regs and practical exam. Passing these you are now entitles to a full NZ electrical license which is recognised in Australia and can be mutually transferred. If OH can afford to take a few weeks out if he wants his license asap then I'd say head over the Tasman and go for it. You won't have to pay for all this back to college BS and wait a year and an employer to sign things off. Possibly an option if he wants his license asap

  8. Not sure yet. A friend has offered to tutor me, but she is away for the summer. Might wait until September, I rather wouldn't, but needs must.

Just be persistent, I had to take a flight 2 times to take the English tests. It finally paid off. Took me 2 IELTS and 2 Pearsons to get the 20. We got our visa grant today. 23 days after lodging.

  9. Just logged on to our immi account as I do every day and it says finalised. Our agent will be the ones getting the email but am I the holder of a 189 visa do you think ?

we have the email.. We are officially the holders of a 189 visa. We lodged EOI 29th June. Same day invite, 3 weeks later grant. Can't believe it ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  10. Hello,

Welcome to the forum. I am also an IT geek. It's rare to find a job in Australia whilst being out of the country. Your best of getting your visa, going to Australia then finding a job. I am going to apply for a 189 visa (once I get my English exam passed!) and that will be under the Computer Network and Systems Engineer occupation.

If you are looking for a migration agent I can recommend this company - http://www.ptlabs.com.au/. - The person running the firm only deals with IT professionals going to Australia.

    Thanks
