    Thanks Liam13.

could you help out with the star/delta questions please.

Just recognising star and delta connections etc. He may ask you how is this motor connected. I had questions on starters aswell. Just get your head around the basics of starters. DOL etc.. You will be ok. As joe mentioned get your head around the DOLas you will be wiring one with a start, stop and e stop. There is plenty of drawing on google for this.. I wouldnt worry but as joe said people do fail but put the time in and you will be ok. Any questions just yell 👍

    Hi Guys,

I’ve got my vetassess exam soon in London.

Could anyone please help with classroom theory side.
    What to revise for?

    Thanks.

Just go back to ohms law, volt drop etc. Nothing worth stressing about. Get on top of motors and control wiring to latch in a motor i.e stop start e-stop etc. I was asked to draw this and then wire it. Not hard hard at all. Abit about distribution and transmission voltages. Star delta and you will be asked which is which and why and when they are used.

So, I have to spend around 1000 AUD to get a Skill Assessment (VETASESS) and 300 Euros on the IELST beforehand. If I do not get the invitation afterwards it will be for nothing.

This is why talking to a registered agent will be worth while so they can advise you what your options are. It may be an additional expense, but its better than losing everything because of a mistake or lack of understand.

  5. if It’s any help I also needed 20 and could only hit 10 points when i took the IELTS twice.. I then sat the Pearson test which I found a lot more user friendly and a less pressurised environment. It was also a computer based exam so you just put your headphones on and away you go and managed to hit the 20 points first time.. Dont give up..

Thanks for your suggestion. I cannot afford that route right now so I am trying to gain information via what other people have been through. Thanks.

Is it worth being unsuccessful due to a lack of understanding.. if it takes abit longer to save for a registered agent then Trust me it’s money well spent.. peace of mind is very important in this whole process

  7. sounds like your on the right road.. me and the mrs live in perth with our adopted husky jazz :-D. was quite hard not being licensed to be fair. like most i dont really have a good word to say about the gap training as its frustrating and makes life hard to find work as a "trade assistant".. luckily enough once i was licensed i managed to get a full time position working in the mines on a 2 week on 1 week off gig. currently enjoying my week off :-)

  8. hi jason

i done mine last year.. electrician (general ) 189 visa.. 25 at time of application. get onto the DOWN UNDER CENTRE in london for a skills assessment (OTSR) ( they are alot better than vetasses and alot easier to get hold of). they will want everything you have in proof of quals and experience, apprenticeship certs etc etc, expect them to ask for the colour of your undies.. the skills assessment isnt much to worry about. domestic board and setup with a theory exam. the hardest part is getting to that point with the paperwork. OTSR lasts 2 years i think. if you havent thought about a migration agent then for the peace of mind its well worth the money.

  9. Have a look at future skills international. I sat my exam with them in Brisbane. At a total cost of around $2000. You need to have an NVQ 3 and am2 with at least 2 years post apprenticeship experience before you are eligible to sit the exam. Once completed you can apply for a provisional license and also have that assessment towards a resident visa or sponsorship. It took me about 7 months of prep with documents and actually sitting the exam so if your running out of time then start thinking about it

  10. So my Pearsons test is booked for next Wednesday. I've been doing quite a bit of practice using YouTube videos and webinars. Today I took the practice test which is scored and specific time allocated appropriately, cost £28 (ridculous!) I scored well enough considering some elements I couldn't even understand. I'm not stupid by any means, in my degree I got A's & B's. I'm a native English speaker but God was this test difficult! I dreaded the describe image & retell lecture elements of speaking but managed to get 73!

    My my practice scores:

    listening 75

    writing 72

    speaking 73

reading 69 (one whole paragraph I could not understand!)

I had had to write an essay on politics, not my strong point at all! Any tips appreciated on how to bump

up my scores. Does anyone know if the practice tests are harder/marked harder than the real thing?

a little trick I found that worked was making sure you do your best to start the test before anyone else. The speaking test is first so if you get left behind getting setup you will have a load of people talking and you'll find it interrupting to get settled. It also depends on what score you need. If your looking at superior English then you need to keep hammering the practice tests and I agree the describe image is the trickiest.

I took IELTS 2 times. One time I didn't even hit proficient. Took Pearson 2 times. First time was 1 point off superior. Second time I smashed superior so if I can do it anyone can
