  1. 1993 NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical maintenance engineering) 1997 NVQ Level 3 (Electrical installation and testing) 2009 17th edition wiring regulation certificate 2008 HNC in mechanical engineering 2007 NEBOSH safety certificate Copied and pasted from CV. HMRC said they would send letter verifying his work, but this is only 1 piece of evidence and they ask for 2 for EACH year worked!
  2. Thanks so much for your reply Nemesis. That poor family! I feel for them. This process is so hard and so worrying as I just have no idea how to find evidence from the companies he has worked for that have gone bust. And he has kept absolutely nothing e.g. payslips, contracts of employment, certificates etc. Will speak to an agent again and ask them what we should do. They mentioned doing a statutory declaration, but what do we put in it etc? Do the agents help you to write it?
  3. Oh no! So would you say we need to go the 489 visa route and have a go at the skills assessment and English language test?
  4. Oh I was hoping that applying now whilst dependent would mean they could continue with the process when we apply for PR even if finished degrees?
  5. I tried as primary teacher but my degree was 3 years and not accepted, so it will be my partner who is a maintenance manager. He will have to apply as a fitter. I would have to pray that the kids would follow.
  6. 45 but I'm hoping this won't matter if we apply now at 43 for 457 visa?
  7. No. For the past 2 years he has and still is currently employed as and on the job maintenance manager (can prove fitter work in this job). For 3 years or so before that he was self employed as a builder and the previous 8 years was a fitter position. Before that, he did his apprenticeship as a fitter, but that company no longer exists either
  8. Hi we have been told by an agent that a skills assessment for this trade (fitter) will be done by Vetassess, but it says on the SOL list that it is done by TRA. Can anyone advise which is correct please and what the difference is? We also can't trace the companies worked for over the past 10 years as they no longer exist. We have been advised to get HM Revenue records as evidence but we can't get any other info such as payslips as they have all been thrown out over the years. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  9. Oh no! Thanks so much everyone for your replies. I am so worried now! My kids are at uni and said if I add them on visa application now they may come in a few years when they finish their degrees. My job is permanent here and top of pay scale (Primary teacher) but I'd have to do an extra year of study before becoming fully accredited in Oz, as there is a rule to have a 4 rather than 3 year degree! My partner is hardworking and said he will make it work and not to worry, but I do! My whole family are there...mother, brothers, nephew, niece, aunty, uncle and cousins. For this reason, I simply can't stay in the UK despite losing security here. However, we cannot get the evidence required for the fitter's skills test with TRA or Vetassess so it is a real dilemma! It looks like we will just have to go for it and take a risk.
  10. Not the employer, as we haven't even got a job yet. I have just read it when researching the visa and there was an Australian news article saying that from 2012 you can apply for permanency after 2 years.
  11. Thank you. After some research, it does say it can become permanent, but will this apply if we are over 45 (which we will be in 2 years time) when we are allowed to apply for the permanent visa. Hopefully someone will know and be able to help. I'll contact an agent too.
  12. Hi. We are new to this and are wondering if we can trust leaving our permanent jobs and life in the UK for a 457 visa route. We need it to become permanent as my family all live there. We can't do the skills assessment route as the companies my partner worked for have gone out of business and we can't trace them for evidence! As we only have a year and half until we reach the age limit of 45 (50 won't get us the points), we need to act now. Any advice would be appreciated.
  13. NT? Oh right well if it works then great. I'm sure it will be worth it. I hope it works out for you all.
  14. Hi I'm sorry this isn't an answer. It's more an acknowledgement of how you are feeling. I have a 3 yr BA (Hons) in Ed with QTS from Durham Uni and I sent in a skills assessment form and have been rejected which was devastating, as my whole family are there. The reason they gave was that it was 3 and not 4 years. I tried to explain that the course is equivalent to the 4 year courses but it didn't matter. I am in same predicament, so thanks for asking this question. It seems there are plenty of Early Years positions in Oz but no primary teaching jobs!
  15. Wow you are so admirable! How old are you? We can't wait as we only have a year and a half before we reach 45!
  16. Hi I'm a primary school teacher of 13 years in UK. I applied to emigrate to Oz but, as my BA (Hons) in Ed with QTS course was 3 and not 4 years, I was rejected! Any advice on which one year course I need to do to enable me to teach in Oz? Can I do it whilst still in the UK as we are having to apply with my partners trade instead now, so we are still here.
  17. Thanks for the advise. It will be a long, hard process, but here goes!
