  1. Oh right. We will ring the employer and ask them then. However, apart from evidence in the form of holidays last year, our wedding booking and his money going into my account we don't have anything else to prove our relationship . His money has been going in since December which isn't quite 6 months either. It is a continuing thing though. As we are still unsure if he, and indeed the employer, will have this application accepted (and it really is at the final stages), should we wait until that comes through first (hopefully next week)? I would hate to jeopardise it at this stage.
  2. It was just an agent I rang myself in the UK. The employer are acting for themselves. They offered to wait until we were in Australia but said this would be cutting it fine. They realise I need to be added later and are prepared to do that. With regards to the marriage thing. We booked this holiday last year as a wedding too at the hotel. We didn't have the job then and would have both being just getting married and having our honeymoon there. We had a honeymoon to fiji booked too but have cancelled this as our situation to move there on a 457 means we need the money for this now rather than an exotic holiday. I am very worried too about them thinking that at the border! I just don't know what to do. Will having evidence from the employer in the form of a letter, stating that they will add me and evidence of how long the wedding has been booked for help? I asked my OH to get married in England then just have a blessing in Oz, but that would have spoilt our original plans and made it less special so we didn't do that. My immediate family are Australian citizens and that is the reason for getting married over there. Would that help too do you think?
  3. PS...this agent said that proof of his wages going into my account would not be enough and that it would have to be in joint names!
  4. You are like my fairy godmother. Thank you so much! However, I simply daren't, or have no idea how to now interfere with a process that is nearing its completion? We need to leave the UK in July and that is approaching really fast.. Would we be able to ask after it comes through as 'application approved?' Or would me having an ETA stop me from trying to get added by July? Equally if I hold off from getting an ETA, and apply from the UK now, would that mean I can't go in July if it hasn't been approved, as I already have a visa application (ie: 457) in process?
  5. We have lived together for over a year, but because it's my house and he still has his house we don't have evidence. I only have bills such as the telephone one and his car insurance in his name and although his money goes into my account it is only in my name as we didn't get round to changing it into a joint account. I looked on an agent's website and it says 'you can extend a visa' but not apply onshore for a different visa, so I became worried that I wouldn't be able to lodge my application whilst in Australia.
  6. The application is about to be approved we think as it's in the 7th week and they have just requested more information from the employer. We didn't add me on the initial application as we knew we didn't have enough evidence of the defacto relationship unfortunately. I also rang an agent who said if we try it may jeopardise his job as the whole application may be rejected.
  7. Hi all. I think I have asked similar questions before, but still feel unclear on what I should be doing. Any help would be appreciated. I have to apply for an ETA visa to visit Oz in July to get married and holiday with family. However, since this holiday was booked last year, my husband to be has now secured employment and may have his 457 visa very soon. I need to be added to this visa onshore when we have our marriage certificate. Is this allowed whilst I'm on ETA tourist visa? The next question is, if it doesn't come through in the 3 month period, rather than fly out and back in, could I get some sort of bridging visa whilst waiting for the outcome of the 457 visa? I'm really worried about all of this and rather that having all of this worry, we really should be able to look forward to seeing the family and getting married!
  8. Thanks. which one should I get? Does it make any difference? I'm from UK and the travel agent can get me an Electronic Travel Visa? I need to add myself to my soon to be husband's 457 on arrival in Australia and after the wedding. We didn't have enough defacto evidence so thought we would wait. I'm worried it won't go through on time though.
  9. Hi. This may seem obvious, but what is the difference between an evisitor subclass 651 and an electronic travel authority visa subclass 601 please?
  10. It's easy to feel that way, but stay positive. We are a week behind you...coming up to 7 weeks. Good luck!
  11. Tuesday? Don't tell me it's a holiday Monday over there? Even longer to wait
  12. Thanks. The company have agreed to add her in July, but worried something may put a spanner in the works as we have found out that nothing is easy.
  13. Thanks. Do you know how I will find out what conditions will be on the visitor visa? I thought the visitor visa is only for 3 months anyway?
  14. You need to get back onto them. We enquired about this when trying to go for an independent visa, as the previous employers have gone into liquidation years ago. They said they would send us details of employers worked for over the past so many years. We never received anything and by then decided to go the 457 employer sponsored visa route, so we haven't been back onto them. You need to get docs from them that name who you have worked for and for how many years I think.
  15. Hi. I know how you all feel. It's painful waiting, as you cannot sort things out with house, jobs etc. without knowing whether it will go through. It's been 5 weeks now for us! I know that's not really very long, but that's just to have the nomination agreed
  16. Hi. We are waiting for a 457 visa, but I had to apply just for myself and leave my girlfriend off at the time (4 weeks ago) as we are not married until July this year and had no evidence of living together. So, as we are getting married in Australia, (all my partner's family live there) we would have been going on holiday to get married anyway. My wife to be will therefore be on a tourist visa and I will hopefully, by then, have my 457 visa granted. The employer were very understanding and suggested they would wait to lodge the application in July, but they said it would be pushing it time wise for me to start work. So we decided to apply for me then add her in July when we are married. My question is, what are the processing times likely to be? Will it be likely that we'll get her added onto the visa before the 3 month period is up, If not, what will we do? Thanks in advance for any greatly appreciated advice!
  17. Thank you. Maybe we should just be patient for a few more weeks. Or should we take the risk as we have to leave UK early July. It's difficult to make decisions when sometimes people on here get replies within weeks and for others it take months.
  18. Hi all Has anyone had a nomination approved recently? My employer lodged the application on 15th March and still no news. I realise the Easter break has been included here, so any ideas on how long the nomination approval part normally takes would be appreciated. I want to know whether to submit my part or not. If I submit and the nomination is rejected, will i get a refund of the fee?
  19. Thank you. I googled it and there were different types like hospital cover, general cover or both and I got a shock at the prices. Are we entitled to their Medicare? I know this is the Oz version of our NHS isnt it?
  20. Hi all Questions keep arising as we continue to proceed with this idea to move to Australia. Do we need health insurance for a 457 visa and if so, what sort of cover is accepted? I hope someone can help with this as we need to start working out costs etc Thank you .
  21. If only I had known about this 3 year degree issue when I chose my course! Do you mean you have done two PGCEs or 1 with a specialism in SENCO? Are you recommending SENCO because that's something they are looking for in Oz? Would an early years one be good as there are hundreds of jobs for Early Childhood Teachers. However, I have heard that the course has to include 0-6 years and the courses here don't accommodate for that do they? Doing a PGCE would mean training in a school to teach again though wouldn't it and i just can't imagine doing that. £1800! I thought tuition fees alone are £9000 per annum or is it different for OU? Sorry about all these questions . We will move to NSW as that's where the job offer and my family are. How about you? Leanne
  22. My heart goes out to you. We love our 2 year old cat so much too. She is part of the family and it would break our hearts to leave her. If we get our visa granted (hopefully soon), we will be going in July. However, the £2kish is a lot of money when we have other priorities and a limited amount of money. I have no idea what to do, but I do think the cats will be ok in transit. They may be a little scared and lonely at first, but it would be worth it.
  23. Oh this sounds brilliant, but if the 457 goes through we are going in July, as we get married there and then will stay so my soon to be husband can start his job. I wonder if there is any way I could sort this before I go, stating that the 457 is temporary and that I would have done it here if it were possible? Are you in the UK then and planning to emigrate to Oz Chouse?
  24. That sounds like a more accessible plan. Thank you Sammy. I really appreciate it.
  25. I didn't do a PGCE. I did the 3 year BA in Education with QTS.
