1. Amazing!! Received a snail mail letter to inform me that my TRA has been successful. Absolutely buzzing!! Even more amazing is that from the date of acknowledgement to the date of confirmation was 1 day short of 4 weeks!! All that hard work of evidence gathering paid off. For any Painters & Decorators out there, I know there have been alot of questions on this forum about whether an NVQ 2 is equivalent to the AQF III. While interestingly I have both NVQ 2 & 3 and the letter confirms that they have assessed the level 2 as the equivalent. Now onto the EOI.
2. Thanks Rupert. Was worrying about that one. Now I can just continue to worry about the TRA!!
3. Hi all I've been in Australia for 18 months and now going for PR (patiently waiting for the TRA outcome) I have worked in my trade for most of this time but not with one single employer and a mix of TFN and ABN. I worked for one for 5 months, twice for another for just over 2 months each time, one for 4 months, another for just short of 3 months and a couple of others for a couple of weeks.Does anyone know if this will count for the 12 months or does it have to be with one employer to count? Thanks in advance for your help.
4. Do you still have to do the test if you are ONSHORE? Been in Perth for 15 months out of 18 (just away for 3 months doing regional) working and renting here but in the process of PR (just waiting for TRA outcome).

New CSOL??

Just been on the immi website and it has listed the 5 coming off the list and the occupations on the SOL list from July 1st 2013.
6. Hi Apprenticeship is C&G NVQ 3 No AQF. Have provided an awful lot of information with this - apprenticeship agreements and completion certificate, review records during course/apprenticeship, letters from CITB, A 10 page Stat Dec on Apprenticeship and Qualification Syllabus content as well as a shed load of information to support employment during the apprenticeship and post-apprenticeship, including a 14 page Statement for the 3 year evidence. Application is ready to go - agent happy there are no gaps in the information - its a large file of information being provided. Agent is in Australia as it's my son going through the process and he is on a second WHV in Oz.
7. Just going through TRA for Painting Trades Worker at the moment. Provide as much info as possible they like detail. Too much is better than too little. Our section 8. Statement on 3 years employment is 14 pages long. To support the apprenticeship stuff we have done this on a Statutory Declaration which is 8 pages long. Where you can't get a reference then fill the gap with a Stat Dec but it has to be very detailed. Our Agent has confirmed that the detail is the right thing to do.
8. Thanks UK Chris. I contacted the TRA and whilst they won't be specific, their response has gone a little way to reducing the worry. I'll post it here so any other P&D who worries about this can have some reassurance: In response to your specific question, TRA makes reference to ANZSCO in the TRA Migration Skills Assessment Applicant Guidelines when referring to employment, and more specifically the tasks specified in ANZSCO as a guide for a list ofsome of the activities that are relevant for the occupation. If you are able to provide TRA with sufficient evidence of your qualification and employment claims in your MSA application, it is likely that TRA will use a holistic approach to determine whether you have a broad skill across your nominated occupation and assess your application accordingly.
9. I am a P&D, 3 year apprenticeship, NVQ 3, 7 years post-apprenticeship skilled experience. My question is, if I have no spray painting experience will I get a positive outcome from TRA? One of definitions is applying paints varnishes and stains by brush roller and sprays I have everything else in the overall definition. Anyone know if you have to have absolutely everything. Don't want to go through this onerous task of gettlng all the evidence together if it is likely to fail because of the spray painting. Anyone had a positive outcome without the spray painting. I've rung the TRA but they will only say they will consider if this is a major element of the trade requirement so to submit everything for consideration. Any first hand knowledge would be very much appreciated.
10. I have everything but spray painting on ANZCO definition, 3 year apprenticeship, 7 years skilled experience but no spray painting experience as not much of it in UK. Be interested to know if anyone has had a positive outcome without the spray painting. I've spent weeks getting everything together for the TRA Assessment but seems pointless playing the stressful waiting game if definitely going to fail because of the spraying. I've rung the TRA and all they will say is that they will consider if it is a major requirement of the trade so to submit everything for consideration. A bit of a heads up would be really appreciated and any first hand knowledge/success from anyone who has gone through this without the spray painting. Thanks in advance.
11. Crikey, if you don't get through with all that, then there's no hope for any of us!! Ive got all my apprenticeship and qualification certificates, but can't remember all the content of each module as the descriptions are a bit generic. I've written to City & Guilds to see if they can supply the syllabus content cos not sure TRA would just accept the list of modules without some kind of explanation. Ive pulled together a 4 page reference for my employer so hope this is what they are looking for - I think it's got the detail they will need. Ive tried to follow the ANZCO definition and the government definition of a tradesperson. Trouble is it's still difficult to tell whether the detail is the right detail!!!! I also seem to be repeating myself alot in my Employment Statement as so many jobs follow the same format with just a few adjustments. I don't have any photos as it's not something I expected to need in the future. I haven't had experience in one item of the ANZCO definition as we just don't do much of it in the UK so I'm hoping this won't scupper the outcome. I have all p60's back to 2001 but not all payslips so hoping this will suffice as confirmation of employment. Fingers crossed and good luck to you.
12. Thanks Pablo. It's so hard to take it right back to the basics when you have been in the trade for a long time and it's all second nature!!! I just seem to be repeating myself but I guess that's better than leaving something out.
13. Ozpom which bits did you copy in for your headings? Thanks
14.

Hi Caz Don't know if this is the PM area - I haven't got the hang of this site yet!! Thanks for the reply about the TRA. I'd be so grateful for the information My e-mail is lsulley164@btinternet.com You are a lifesaver sharing this. This is so stressful!!!

15. Thanks, that's great. I'd be so grateful for the information. You are a life saver. This is so stressful!!!!
16. What should the experience/training statement look like? What/how much should go into the employer references? Any examples out there anyone is prepared to share? Would be soooooooooooo grateful if you could share your hard work. Thank you in anticipation.
17. Thanks blossom79. Well I'll start the painful task of pulling in all together then!! Fingers crossed!!
18. The Painting Trades Worker ANZCO tasks include "applying paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays" so i am assuming that as they use this as one of the bits of information to decide if experience and qualification match australian trade requirements then they will be looking for this for a positive assessment outcome. Has anyone been through the process without the spray painting and come out with a positive?
19. Well looking at the ANZCO Painting Trades Worker defininition it includes spraying so I guess I haven't got a hope in hell if I don't have experience in spraying despite all my other experience, my apprenticeship and my qualifications!!!!!:frown:
20. I am qualified to NVQ3, 3 year apprenticeship and 7 years experience post apprenticeship. Has anyone been through the TRA for a Painter & Decorator recently without spray painting experience? I don't want to go through the difficult process of writing the Statement and gathering all the information if it is clear that spray painting is an absolute necessity to succeed. Please let me know if you are in the same position as me and have succeeded. Also how long does the statement need to be? I have started but I just seem to be repeating myself on the project examples. Any help, particularly around the spray painting question, would be much appreciated before I subject myself to the tortuous process. Thanks.
21. I am NVQ3 Qualified, completed a 3 year apprenticeship and have 7 years post-apprenticeship experience (Painting & Decorating). However in the UK spray painting is not common and therefore I have had no experience in this. How likely am I to pass the TRA without this?
22. Thanks for that. That give us some structure now. Much appreciated. I'm sure we will have a few more questions as we go through the TRA.
23. Hi Can anyone help with the requirements of the TRA for a Painter & Decorator. We really don't know where to start with the actual statement. I know we will have to put in stuff about the apprenticeship, the qualification and employment but we are struggling with how to lay this out and how much detail should be in there. Is there anyone out there who is prepared to share their submission to point us in the right direction? Cheeky, I know, asking you to share your hard work but we've been struggling with this for days. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please help 2 very confused people.
