  1. Yeah, i'm not at Panic stations quite yet. I'm just glad they have received it. It's all up to them from now. Just need Police and Medicals to do. It's interesting to here what timeframes from the Perth office are like though from others.
  2. Also did you send yours next day express delivery to Perth? We did.
  3. Hey Littlekitty! We are De-facto applicants. I'm guessing because you guys are married you'll be more straight forward. So we sent our 820 off on the 20th Jan and it arrived in Perth this morning. Still no money taken as of yet. what is a PMV? I'm coming from a working holiday visa and mine runs out on the 6th Feb!
  4. Finally lodged our Visa on the 20th January 2014 (On our 2 year anniversary). Just want to thank everyone on here for their advice and help as i found the process pretty stressful. Such a huge amount of weight has been lifted now its in the post. Just the Police and Medical checks to go. I will post a timeline of events after postage.
  5. I live in Mawson Lakes so the Northern Subs. I find there is alot more crime up here than possibly the south. Mawson Lakes is a really nice area but i find that the subs around it aren't quite as nice and the crime rate quite high especially in Elizabeth and Salisbury. When i first got here i was door knocking for a short while whilst getting on my feet and the amount of times i was threatened and threatened to be shot. I now work at salisbury mental health and again the people that enter here are constantly being arrested for assault to the nurses etc. Plus i follow SA police on facebook and the amount of murders, assaults, robberies, people going missing constantly being reported is i think quite high. Aswell as watching the news, there is always a shooting or a stabbing. I went out into the city the other night and saw two fights in the space of 10 minutes. 1 guy who was minding his own business got knocked out and fell like a sack of potatoes onto the road. There was blood everywhere. Again once when i was door knocking in Davoren park i was told to keep my phone in my hand in my pocket at all times incase something happened. My team leader told me this who lived around the corner. As i said this is all just my opnion and my experience of adelaide so far regarding the crime rate.
  6. Yes and no! Adelaide has pros and cons like any city i guess. Adelaide is more of a big country town than a city really but there is plenty to do here. You've got the beaches and the hills, Which are stunning. I always feel like im in australia when im up there. :-) The only thing about Adelaide is i would say the crime rate is quite high for such a small space and quite often you can feel quite isolated. But on the plus side its not as expensive as the other citys in Oz. I've been Adelaide since February. x
  7. Was your visa also an 820 Partner visa. And where are you based in Oz? I'm in Adelaide and hope to be handing it in in January. Fingers crossed mine only takes 4 months
  8. I'm doing the same, handing in my 820 Partner visa after christmas. Let me know how it all goes :-)
  9. I also live in Adelaide. :-) You should also visit www.pomsinadelaide.com
  10. I applied for mine in the UK and got it back on the same day! :-) Shame the Defacto visa doesnt take the same amount of time to process ;-)
  11. We have most of that although I guess we can throw some joint Xmas cards sent to us both at Xmas time and I have some invites I could include will hold off on the police and medical checks until we lodge it and asked for it. thank you for all your help
  12. Thanks Snifter, As you can probably tell i'm in panic mode when i probably dont need to be. I did look on the immi website and they reckon processing time is inbetween 6-8 months depending on low or high risk. I guess we will just wait until after xmas to send it off then as my WHV runs out on the 6th Feb. Although not sure what other evidence i can collect really. Photos maybe? and gives me time to do my police check anyway :-) Thank you for all your help
  13. Thanks for the clarification - Will get onto it sharpish :-)

  15. Is this the right documentation to fill in and send off for a 802 Partner visa??
  16. I did find this link. Has anyone used this and is it the right thing to send off for my uk police check http://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx
  17. About to send off our 802 partner visa without our Medical or police checks. Is it just me that has to get them done or is it both of us? My partner being the sponsor. Also i'd rather get them done before i send off my application as i heard it speeds up the process. How do i go about getting a police check from the UK and Oz and where do i get my medical done? My 1 year working holiday visa runs out in February. 1) Do i have enough time? and 2) Someone recently told me that my partner and i HAVE to have lived together a year in Oz. We've lived together for a year but only in Oz since January the rest in the UK.
  18. Just looked up processing times. It reckons in between 6-8 months on the immi site http://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/5.0.htm
  19. Ah ok thanks guys. I don't have my bridging visa yet and have no holidays planned but with the processing time being 13 months its a long time to go without a holiday and after sorting out our partner visa I think I'm going to need one
  20. My working holiday visa doesn't run out until the beginning of feb so I'm not panicking just yet. 3 months to send it off and get my bridging visa which I'm hoping is enough time?
  21. We have had all our paperwork stamped by the justice of peace including birth certificates and copies of passports etc i would prefer to hand my visa in in person.
  22. Going for my partner visa and wondering that once i get my bridging visa can i leave the country on it or go on any holidays outside Aus in the processing time frame?
  23. Hi all, Has anyone lodged a 820 visa in Adelaide? My partner and i have finally finished getting all our evidence together, filled out the forms, got friends and family to fill in 3 888 forms, hand written our stat decs, got evidence of a joint bank account, living together, paying bills together, travel together, photos...is there anything else anyone would advise on adding at all? Also do we now just go down to the immigration office in adelaide and get assigned a case worker? Do we need to do our medical and police checks now or after lodging the application and do they request it? Is it a must? Also any ideas on the processing time? Any advice would be great on any of the questions above :-) Kind regards Hayley
