  1. The job market is not improving at all in WA for HR ! We got our PR so things are easier but as the market is slowing many internals are now looking to go back to agencies and are ready to accept lower wages and much more stress. The mining industry is suffering as many others. The only industry still doing well is the Oil and Gas but roles are locked internally and externally as these guys got PSL with big international recruitment companies and are not interested by local newcomers. I must admit the situation is not what we have expected and if I had to do it again, I would probably have target another industry such as marketing or sales but not recruitment. The other point is that this industry is immensely impacted by social/professional network and everybody using Link... can find candidates so the added value for agencies is disapearing and same situation internally : why would you recruit -an pay - someone with a degree when a teenage can do the job ? All in all that is frustrating and not the Australian experience we have planned. Same situation for my hubby in the HR industry too. The only solution would be to start our own business but we don't know what do do and have spent all our saving here trying to cope with high rents and supermarkets prices. I understand now that this 5.7% official unemployment rate means nothing as people simply do not join lists as there is almost no benefit to claim, not like in Europe. By chance we have no kids otherwise things would really be scary. Good luck !:shocked::shocked:
  2. Permanent Residency granted yesterday. Arrived in Australia March 2011 Timeline: From 457 to 186 @ Perth All paper done and sent to MA May12. Sept 12 Application lodged (MA decided to wait 3 months before lodging). No news 20/03/12 call from MA : CO allocated 21/03/12 PR granted Cheers guys !
  3. You always find something if you are prepared to go a few step backwards. I had to go back to recruitment agency and doing cold calling. Horrible. I am applying for 20 months for internal role but again, the priority is for local. In Europe people employ the most skilled and experienced. So yes, things are different.
  4. Hi there, I am HR Generalist with 10 years of experience in different european capital cities and I found it quite difficut to get a HR job here. Priority goes to local candidates, even if they are not qualified or experienced. I spent a couple of years recruiting in London but that is not enough or that is too much. Any local car dealer or real estate agent has more chance to get the role. I don't know why. I should spent one year selling car here maybe before looking for an HR role ! Gillian
  5. Application lodged DR on the 3rd of September. Absolutely no update from no one to date, except this, when I asked yesterday for a status : DIAC have notified us their system has a glitch where they have not been able to identify the decision ready cases. We will be sending them a spreadsheet which will include your application confirming its decision-ready and hopefully then we may hear back from DIAC on the application soon. As far as I am aware they have not guaranteed processing times in this regard yet though. Frustrating.... Gillian
  6. Hi, He is tied to the job for 2 years once the visa has been issued. I forgot to add to the weird things that they lodge a 186 visa instead a 187. I didn't mention it to them as it might be better for us :daydreaming: Explanations why it was so long were confusing. It was a strategy as they anticipated things wouldf go faster for DR after 1st of July. I saw in this forum people talking about this glitch. Well, what can we say ? My MA might improve his communication skills, that would be the minimum. Gillian
  7. Hi, My hubby had a 457 sponsor and we moved to WA. His employer agreed to sponsor him to 187 PR in April and we proceed to do all the paperworks in a few weeks, everything was done in 4 weeks including Health check, end of May. The company is dealing with a very large immigration company. First strange thing is that they lodged the application early September only, pretending things would go quicker. Then recently we requested to know if any progress, if a case officer has been granted etc. The answer (21/11/12) was that Diac has notified their system as a glitch where they have not been able to identify the decision ready cases. I am may be oversuspicious because things are not ok for my hubby at his job since a new Manager came and any quick decision from Diac would be like a big breath for us. Now the Immi say he will send a spredsheet which will include our application confirming it is decision ready and they hope to hear from Diac. So again, we are in the blue, no case officer, no update... What do you think ? Gillian
