Hi there, I have had my skills assessed by ANMAC took about 12 weeks I went with an agent who took care of it all although Im sure its prob ok to do yourself, I also had to sit an IELTS Academic test and I have to say some parts were really tricky! way harder than any exam I sat for my Midwifery degree! oh yeah I'm English too! You need scores of 7 or above in all areas, the reading part I found the hardest answering questions and writing a mini essay wasn't very nice! Anyway the whole process was much quicker than gaining my AHPRA registration that took 5 months and was very stressful! AHPRA are quite unhelpful, good luck

The cost of living in the UK is very high!! We earn really good wages but neither of us have had a pay rise in years (Im a Midwife, Husband Electrical Contracts manager) we are a family of 4 and spend huge amounts on healthy food like £150 week plus top ups, this makes me almost cry when I go shopping and I shop around for deals! gas £90 mth, elec £120 mth, ctax £150, water £35, phone/broadband £65, sky £45, mortgage £1200, car ins £42 (small car engine) house ins £30 (both contents/buildings) tv lic £12, it just goes on and on!! debts blah blah!! plus the UK is miserable a family day out will cost £100-150, nothing free to do except walks and the park etc its crap!! I cant wait to move to OZ I dont mind the higher cost of living as the wages are higher so I feel its all relevant plus there's lots to do and the weather is beautiful! we feel we just exist in the UK not actually live and I feel theres no future for the kids here unless they want to join the local gang culture! anyone coming back to the UK is mad! just my opinion!!

Hi all, I sent my application to the Brisbane office end of April 2012 and only recently got my letter in principal!!! 5 months!!! it was an awful experience and I dont advise you to sent to Brisbane!! they are very slow and quite rude in the office when you ring up to enquire! I sent everything they wanted plus more I also had my skills ass with ANMAC and sent that but still 5 months!

My husbands police check shows a conviction from 15 years ago although it only states "No live trace" this was a minor offence with no custodial sentence only a fine so apparently its only custodial sentences over 12mths and violent crimes etc they are concerned with.
