  1. I know this might be a bit of a stupid question, but when we first arrive to activate our PR visas, can we line up in the Oz passport and residents line at passport control? Just thought I would ask as this will save time. cheers
  2. Good on you mate, it's a great feeling hey. But now you have to sort everything else out. It's a roller coaster ride. Good luck June gang, it's nearly there.
  3. I'm not a lecturer, but an RF and currently work in he. Looking on unijobs.com.au there are always psych jobs going. But, being well published will help. My field is fairly small, so difficult to get positions in oz. what other options are open for former RF in oz outside of HE?
  4. Hi Shreya10 Yeah, you're right, team 8 and same CO. It looks as though the wheels are starting to turn. As for timeline, i haven't managed to do this. But, needless to say that we applied on the 19th June and we have got the grant this morning. It's taken a while, but we got there in the end. As for everyone else, hang in there it will come. We know how it feels, but its only a few more days i'm sure of it. Also wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone on PIO, its full of useful information etc and without it we probably would have struggled a lot more in terms of getting the application in. We did it without a MA btw. We hope all of you waiting in the June gang here really soon.
  5. Well guys, it's been 1 year and 1 1/2 months getting to this point but today we finally got our visa granted :-) PR189. For all those waiting in the June gang, we applied on the 19th June, were allocated a CO from team on sep10th. Had to give in additional documents which we did ASAP, and then waited a month. Not the quickest team but they get there in the end! V funny feeling: happy, shaking and scared all at the same time! Next stop, flights!
  6. I've read somewhere that the form 80 can take anything up to 9 months to clear security checks. Aaaahhh
  7. Can I ask, are all those in the June gang applying from 'high risk' countries? I don't think they are, but just wanted to ask. We're not, but it seems that makes no difference.
  8. Nope, nothing for us today. Looks like another wkend. Maybe next week. I wonder how many June applicants are still waiting, and not just us on pio?
  9. Yeah, it's not looking good for us June gang. let's hope tomorrow brings some good news. I just don't understand, what's holding them up. I did read somewhere on pio that some CO have a 30 day waiting period after all docs have been sent/received. I don't know if this is true or not, but it could be. Yet, others seem to get grants 2 hours after CO receives docs, so who knows. Hang in there guys!

    AISTL Posted

I don't want to alarm you, but we had a hell of a time with AISTL. All I can say is I hope you're transcript indicates 120+ credits for you PGCE and that all of the modules are clearly labeled etc. All in all it took us 6 months to get the all clear. As for advice with the waiting, I can't really suggest anything but have patience.
  11. Seriously, I don't understand why those who submitted in aug are getting grants and many June applicants are still waiting? Is this to do with security checks? Even for those from low risk countries? We keep thinking that we've missed something, but if that was the case we would have been asked to supply it. I just don't understand.
  12. Any news for June applicants? Has anyone had an email from team 8 confirming that they have received docs?
  13. I find it a bit off of Team 8, or any team for that matter, for not responding to emails, particularly when you have attached documents. I just hope that attaching docs to the team email address is fine? Rant over
  14. Hi Guys Still waiting for that Email! Us June guys are getting hung out to dry hey. Just logged into our account and it still shows 'request' next to the documents that the CO required, but in the section below it indicates the documents have been received on a particular date with the term 'TRIM', does anybody know what this means? cheers
  15. Nothing to report from us either. It looks as thought the wait is going to be a bit longer for us June gang.
  16. Hi All Sent form 80 yesterday and other requested documents earlier last week via email to Team 8, so its now a matter of waiting. Us June applicants are really waiting to hear hey? But, it could be worse, it could be the old days when the process really did take a long time. Can I ask, in terms of email contact, we simply have the team email and not our CO email address, is this correct? I don't think we even received an email to say that our documents have been received. Oh well. Cheers
  17. Hi all, congrats to all the June gang that have received their grants. We applied on the 21st June and we only heard from the CO last Thurs. They requested better scans of our PC, more evidence of employment, i.e tax documents and pay slips and of course form 80. So it looks as though we are going to have to wait a little bit longer for that grant email. The wait has been awful. But, with people getting grants, we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to all those with the grant. Let hope that the new government does not make it more difficult to get to Oz in the future. Cheers
  18. Hi abitlostreally I currently work as a Researcher in HE in the UK, occasionally giving guest lectures etc, but was wondering what working in HE is like in Oz. When we visited last year, I spoke with someone who used to be in the natural sciences at Melbourne Uni. But, after completing his PhD and postdoc work, he left HE to become a secondary school teacher. He said he had no regrets about the change and cited the demand for writing bids and brining in money as a major factor for changing career. What is your experience of lecturing in Oz? As for feeling lonely, I agree with snifter's comments. However, would you be looking to get back into the HE sector in the UK? It's tough here at the moment and with the REF round the corner, people are not hiring unless you have a lot to offer i.e. a list of publications as long as your arm or money. It’s not the only thing to think about, but it's something to consider.
  19. Hi All We lodged our application for a 189 visa last night. It took us 3 hours to upload all of our doc (de facto evidence). Just wanted to ask other's experience of the GSM Adelaide team? How long till CO allocated etc? Cheers
  20. $1.68 and reading the forecasts some predict that the Aussie dollar could go as low as us$0.90, that could see the exchange rate to the pounds get even better. But, of course this all depends on what happens in the uk in terms of QE. Let's just hope it continues this way, as I might have to think about changing funds over.
  21. Hi Rupert Thanks again and I get your point about wasting your time wondering. As for the second question: We have read info re this issue and the 10 year limit, but just wanted to know whether you had to declare this within the application itself. Also, because I didn't spend more that 12 month in NZ, I don't think they require a police check, so I gather from Booklet 6. Anyway, thanks again for your time. Without you many people on here would be lost. Dave
  22. Hi Rupert Thanks for this. If that is the case, then why do they ask for this information in the first place? Also, when the application asks 'Have any of the applicants lived in a country other than the primary applicant's usual country of residence', should we include my partner year placement in Germany in 2001-2 and my WHV in New Zealand (2003-4) and Australia (1999-2000)? Cheers Dave
  23. Hi All I hope someone can help us? We are in the process of completing the application for a 189 visa and we are a little confused about the section relating to partner's education and employment history. As we are not claiming points for my partner's education and employment, will we need to provide scanned copies of her certs, payslips and references? Providing evidence for education is fine, its the employment history which is going to be the issue, as my partner cannot find any references or payslips for certain positions? Can anyone clarify whether we need to supply this evidence after we have submitted the visa? Alternatively, we will just have to leave off certain positions, but then there would be gaps in the employment history, which might be a problem? Hope someone can help with this. Cheers D
  24. Hi Can I ask a question? We are just in the process of submitting an application. If you submit your application and make payment before 1st July, will your application be considered on the criteria, i.e the previous sol list? cheers
  25. Hi all just thought we would share our news. We got an invite for at 189 visa today and have already started filling in the application for the visa. I spent the whole day yesterday scanning in documents ready for the application process. Next stage medicals and police checks. Hope others received an invite today
